FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Celebrates Over 30 Million Registered Players
LOS ANGELES (Jan. 8, 2024) – SQUARE ENIX® announced at the FINAL FANTASY™ XIV Fan Festival 2024 in Tokyo that its critically acclaimed MMO FINAL FANTASY XIV Online has reached a milestone of over 30 million registered players globally. Alongside this news, SQUARE ENIX also unveiled exciting details about the game’s upcoming expansion pack, Dawntrail™, set to launch in summer 2024.
New Jobs and Playable Race in Dawntrail Expansion
During the festival’s opening keynote, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida introduced Pictomancer as the second of two new jobs coming in the Dawntrail expansion. Pictomancer is a magical ranged DPS job that utilizes mixed aether and a specialized brush to bring their imagination to life. Yoshida also revealed that the female Hrothgar, a new playable race, will be introduced with the expansion.
New Trailers and Gameplay Details

Exciting New Additions in Dawntrail
Dawntrail will bring a host of new content for players to enjoy, including:
- A new city called Solution Nine, featuring towering facades and a captivating design. A walkthrough video of the city can be viewed here.
- An area called Heritage Found, filled with lightning energies and stormy weather conditions.
- The Arcadion raid series and a new ultimate raid called Futures Rewritten (Ultimate).

- Expansive new lifestyle content, such as cosmic exploration and new field operations similar to “The Forbidden Land, Eureka” and “Save the Queen”.
- The introduction of a new limited job called Beastmaster.
Upcoming Crossover Questline and Xbox Series X|S Version
At the FINAL FANTASY XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London, SQUARE ENIX revealed a crossover questline with FINAL FANTASY XVI titled “The Path Infernal”. This questline is scheduled to release in early April. A teaser trailer for the crossover can be viewed here. Additionally, the Open Beta Test for the Xbox Series X|S version of the game will begin in February, allowing Xbox players to join the adventure in Eorzea and beyond!
Patch 6.55 and Graphics Update
Patch 6.55 is set to release on Tuesday, January 16, and will include updates to the main scenario, the continuation of the Hildibrand Adventures, and a new trial titled The Gilded Araya. The patch marks the beginning of the journey to the launch of the Dawntrail expansion in Summer 2024. Alongside the expansion, the game’s first graphical update for character and world visuals will be introduced. Players can expect improvements to screen-wide aesthetic appeal, higher resolution textures and shadows, and improved material qualities.
Expanded Free Trial and Conclusion
FINAL FANTASY XIV Online now offers an expanded Free Trial that includes all content from A Realm Reborn™, the Heavensward™ expansion, and the Stormblood™ expansion. This includes additional playable race Au Ra and five additional playable jobs. The Free Trial provides newcomers with countless hours of gameplay and story experiences, equivalent to three full FINAL FANTASY titles, without any limitations on playtime.
