SQUARE ENIX Reveals SaGa Emerald Beyond in Nintendo Direct Show
LOS ANGELES (Sept. 14, 2023) – During the Nintendo Direct show, SQUARE ENIX® unveiled SaGa Emerald Beyond, a new original adventure in the beloved RPG franchise. SaGa Emerald Beyond, set to release digitally in 2024, offers the ultimate SaGa experience for fans and newcomers alike. This highly anticipated game features music by iconic series composer Kenji Ito and artwork by acclaimed illustrator Satoshi Kuramochi. It will be available for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5 (PS5®) consoles, PlayStation®4 (PS4®) consoles, PC (STEAM®), as well as iOS and Android devices.
Experience Five Distinct Stories in SaGa Emerald Beyond
The latest trailer introduces SaGa Emerald Beyond’s diverse cast of heroes from different worlds, each with their own unique story. Players can choose from six protagonists to embark on their adventure. Guided by mysterious emerald waves, they will explore 17 visually stunning worlds, encountering various races including monsters, mechs, and vampires. This installment of the SaGa franchise expands on the renowned free-form scenario system, giving players more freedom than ever before to shape their own story through their choices and actions. The trailer also showcases the game’s strategic turn-based combat system, offering the best combat experience in the SaGa franchise.
Introducing the Protagonists
Choose from the following protagonists, each possessing the rare ability to see emerald waves that determine their destinies:
Tsunanori Mido
A man with the power to manipulate kugutsu, or animated puppets, to protect the barrier of Miyako City from supernatural phenomena. Tsunanori embarks on a journey to other worlds to find four elemental spirits and restore order to the spiritual realm.
Ameya
A witch-in-training who visits Miyako City disguised as a schoolgirl. After being attacked, Ameya loses most of her magical power and must find a way to regain it while completing her final exam.
Siugnas
An immortal vampire who ruled over Yomi, a world veiled in darkness, as the Dismal King. Betrayed and driven from his throne, Siugnas finds himself in Brighthome and must embark on a journey to recover his powers alongside his squadron of warriors.
Diva No.5
A songstress mech from the world of Avalon designed to sing and dance. After losing her memory and singing functionality by singing a forbidden song, Diva discards her human body and accepts an invitation from a secret society, leaving Avalon behind.
Bonnie and Formina
New recruits and partners on the Capitol City police force investigating an assassination attempt on the President. Armed with only a key person of interest’s claim and a mysterious triangle piece, they set off on a journey through other worlds to uncover the hidden truth behind the incident.
SaGa Emerald Beyond and the SaGa Project
SaGa Emerald Beyond is the latest release in the ongoing SaGa Project from SQUARE ENIX. This project has brought Western releases of games like Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered, Romancing SaGa 3, SaGa SCARLET GRACE: AMBITIONS, the mobile game Romancing SaGa™ Re;univerSe™, and SaGa Frontier Remastered. SaGa Emerald Beyond is not yet rated by the ESRB and will be available digitally in 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, PC (STEAM®), iOS, and Android.
