Was this meant to be!

"You can." I said. "Maybe we can help each other." I stopped at a respectable distance in front of him. "And don't think you can hide that sword from me, it's the first thing I noticed." I smiled, not a victorious or a smug smile, but a gnetle one. The kind I use all the time with Marie.

 

"Depending on the definition of help we're going by," Sandi said as she noticed the other girl was up and talking to Rowen as if she knew there was some way to escape.

She pushed herself off the wall and crossed her arms over her chest as she started to speak before either of them responded, "What... No, how could we be able to help each other? We're stuck in a room, with little chance to escape at the moment since we're still trying to figure out who is keeping us here and how to get out."

Sandi raised her hands before a sigh escaped her lips as she looked at the ceiling, "Besides Rowen, hiding that sword from us isn't going to make us freak out. I mean, come on. That's pretty much the less of two evils right now since we're stuck in this damn box." Sandi was about to make another comment, but she almost fell back when the buzzing from inside her headphones went to a higher pitch and scared the daylights out of her.

 

I stared at the girl after hearing her sudden ourburst. Then she twitched as if to fall back, but caught herself halfway down. "True," I remarked, walking over to her and helping her up. "Things do seem a little gloomy, but you have to look on the positive side and think logically." I held my breath, not sure if the girl was going to respond with hostility.

 

Jenny stretched out a bit and half smiled. She was very light headed. Jenny started lowly and softly laughing. "We're gonna die." She said laughing. Jenny sat slumped against the wall finding this funny. Her lips started to turn purple, like she was cold. Jenny's face began to not look alive.

 

"We are not going to die." I said, reassuring the girl. I crouched down to her level. "They are circulating air into the room so they don't want us dead. Furthermore, I'm guessing from that announcment that they want to study the effects of this tocin on us, meaning our powers. They'll have to feed us sometime so you can gaurentee that at some point, a person will come in with food. We can use that opprotunity to gather information. So don't worry." I smiled and reached out to comfort the girl. But just as my fingertips brushed her skin, I got an electric shock and my vision went blank.

Blood, everywhere. The bodies of two people lay in front of me. blodied corpses. I heard a girl scream and cry "Momma! Daddy!"

I gasped and the vision dissolved, leaving me staring at the face of this young girl.

 

Jenny was alive, but dead. She looked at the girl who had touched her. Jenny was very dizzy and light headed. The room began to swirl and Jenny went cross eyed. Jennys heart stopped suddenly and she opened her eyes. Im dead but, im still here. Jenny was actually blacked out and unconsious in the middle of the white, bright room.

 

What...was that? The minute I had touched that girl I was overcome with memories. The girls past poured into me. I witnessed the death of her parents, and a few happy years in foster homes. But once I pulled my hand away from her, the visions stopped. I looked down at the girl, the poor thing was trembling, apparently unconscious.
"Did anybody see....what just happened?"

 

Jenny noticed its been 3:45pm for a while. She screamed in thought, jolting up and returning back in proper color in just a flash. What was that? Jenny thought. Jenny also noticed that everyone was staring at her. How wierd. Jenny thought. Its like, like a dream.

 

"So when you are emotionally unstable, they flare up. It sounds appropriote, considering that they are both elemental." I felt the color begin to drain my face. I loked back at the girl to see that she was still trembling, but awake. "When I touched you just now...I think I saw your past. You must be feeling scared right now...but all you need to know is that we're here for you. We have to work together to get out of this mess." I smiled down at her. "Do you think we could work together Jenny?"

 

"Emotional based? Well, that would explain a few things at the least. Mostly with Firesparks napping in the corner was getting either angry or freaked out, he'd start letting out a few flames out," Sandi said as she went back to her spot on the wall before looking over at Rowen, "I think I might be able to help you and 'Sparks out with controlling our emotions. If you do ask for help that is."

"As for you two," Sandi commented as she glanced over at Jenny and the other girl who helped her get up earlier, "Are you two doing ok? You look a little... nervous, maybe scared, like you saw or did something that none of us can notice or see at the moment."

 

Another girl in the corner spoke to Jenny and I. "I...think that I saw her past just now," I said , motioning Jenny. "It happened when I touched her."
I focused on the others, adressing Jenny, Rowen and Sandi, as well as Shugi. "As long as we're all helping each other, i want to ask a few questions that could shed some light on this situation. I remember being taken here after....an incident...on the I-87. I ran through a spill and some people came to take me away. Did you all get stuck around that area as well?"

 

Jenny looked at the girl. "Uhm, sure." She said emotionless. I feel fine at the moment. She thought curling back up in any random corner. Jenny crossed her arms over her knees and laid her head down on her arms. Jenny sighed. "We might never get out." Jenny sadly whispered to herself.

 

Sandi nodded as he whispered his want to be part of this... project, experiment, whatever these people want to call it as she noticed the wind die down around Rowen. "Well, whatever this did give to us has probably raised our physical, mental, and stress levels up to a point of probably being genetically enhanced if that's the case with this... chemical," Sandi muttered as she sat there with Rowen next to her.

The buzzing seemed to ring in Sandi's ears again which started to bother her as she really wanted to turn it off, but seeing that it wasn't her broken iPod's fault since the battery was almost dead to begin with. She closed her eyes for a second before taking the headphones off of her neck and just lying them in her lap, seeing that the buzzing was faint, but not as irritable as before.

Sandi glanced over at the other girl with Jenny at the moment as she spoke about her experience at I-87.
"I kind of remember that that there was some type of huge traffic down on the road when I was hitching a ride with some guy who offered me a ride to the next town," Sandi tried to explain from the little memory she had of the incident at hand, "But does anyone really remember on how the spill happened to be there?"

 

I sat down against the wall next to Jenny. "I heard people screaming about a biological attack..." I hesitated for a moment, closing my eyes and reliving my failure. "i was out shopping with my sister Marie, we were picking out a dress for her school dance." I smiled at the memory.
"We were driving home, same as usual when all these cars stopped in the middle of the road. I was being careless and not watching, and it was only after Marie screamed that i saw the car in front of us. I was too late to stop and we hit it dead on. The man driving was so upset, but he seemed..odd. I would call it insanity. The next thing I knew, he had Marie over his shoulder and was screaming about "It hurts." and "Laurel." I ran after them." I opened my eyes again, staring down at the floor. "The rest is just a blur, really. There were flaming cars and people screaming everywhere. I ran until somobody screamed at me to stop, then I was hit on the head with somthing. And now I'm here."
If only I had been watching the road...None of this would have happened.

 

Jenny looked at the girl sitting next to her. "Sometimes, things may seem like your fault," Jenny began to speak at a very lifeless, quiet tone. "But really its not. This happened for a reason. Everything does." Jenny said shaking her head. I escaped and it led me here. Jenny thought. I'll be alot better if I just get out! I feel like a caged bird, unable to spread her wings and fly. She thought resting her head back on her knees.

 

In my little corner I was finaly wakeing up and as I woke up I nticed I was in a bright white box like room...I rubed the back of my neck, I had such a crick in it...the last thing I remembered before wakeing up in the box like room was walking to my girlfriends house...being use to milatery situations I was use to this so called BOX but I thought about how I was trying to turn My life around and what my girlfriend would think...I finaly desided to look around the room and I saw 8 other people six of them looked awake the other two I could not tell if they were dead or alive...I felt like I would not get to see My girlfriend agian and with that thought came sadness, and with that sadness came static and I finaly saw that I knew one of the poeple that was stuk in here as I am...it was my girl friend..."Jenny..." I said, worried out of my mind about how she looked...
