Warlords of the Borders: War of the North

Discussion in 'Archive' started by The Heartless King, Feb 4, 2010.

  1. Leonaro looked back at his pet lion and nodded to him and called for him. His lion powerfully thromped to their side and looked at Bartimaeus and gave a proud growl. Leonardo raised an eyebrow at the sudden behavior of his pet lion. He discarded the thought and continued onward. He looked back at his kingdom, his home one last time and lightly kicked his horse and rode onward.

Bartimaeus followed behind Leonardo as the city and the castle slowly became less visable. When it was out of site Bartimaeus looked at the lion, proudly strolling at Leonardo's side. He was glad Sabim was watching over them. Though he didn't quite understand why it growled at him..

  3. As the kingdom began to disappear beyond the horizon, Leonardo looked down as his horse strolled along. He never left the kingdom in all his life. The fact that he was leaving made him feel so sad, as if he had betrayed his relationship with his kingdom, his people, his home. But when he looked up to the setting sun, his bodyguards, and his friend, a new sense of brightness came to him.

He breathed out, chest elated and thoughts happy. They continued onward for about three hours when they spotted the forest that would take them into the outer areas of the eastern borders and would lead to the caves of the dwarves. He swallowed and thought to himself, I pray that the Gods watch over my people and us as we travel.

Bartimaeus looked at the forest and raised an eyebrow, he felt something in there that made him feel uneasy. He knew that after they went through the forest though, that the eastern deserts would be much worse then whatever was inside that forest. As they continued in the forest, the presence got bigger and more uneasing. He looked around and then at Leonardo "Your highness i sense a very disturbing presense here...Let's be careful." Suddenly a White and Gray Wolf leaped out of the forest and tackled Bartimaeus. It picked him up in it's mouth with insain strength and ran off. Leonardo's lion followed. They got to a small clearing with a rock infront of a cliff wall. The Wolf howled and the Lion roared and the rock started to move. Revealing a passage. They ran in and the Wolf put Bartimaeus down and looked at him, so did the lion "The path ahead of you will be a dangurous one, Bartimaeus." The wolf said. "Kerando?" Bartimaeus asked "Yes.." The Wolf said "Why did you take me here?" He asked "This is the spring of the gods. Anyone who drinks from the water of this spring will be healthy. All wounds will be healed. But that is not why you are here. We wish to give you a weapon of great might that will allow you to defeat your enemies. Perhaps even Jiggehlag." Kerando replied. Out of the spring came a sword with a bright silver blade with fire designs on it, the hilt and handle were made of what looked like pure gold. "Take it and go back to your party. We will be watching you." Kerando said. He then dissapeared and the rock moved back out. Bartimaeus and the lion both walked back to the party

  5. Leonardo yelled out to his friend and galloped hard on his horse. "BARTIMAEUS!!!" he shouted over and over again. He began to fear the worst when he stopped at the location of his friend and his lion. He was somewhat confused at how they were acting. They seemed to be looking at each other, passing along messages. He blinked once and began to approach his friend.

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

"My heart... why is it filled with sadness." She started to walk in the garden, trying to find some comfort but to no avail, she still can't find herself in peace. "MISTRESS! MISTRESS!!!" A servant started to run towards her in a panic. "IT'S TERRIBLE!! OUTSIDE! Outside forces are ready to attack! There's a letter..." She grabbed the letter from him and started to read:

    "By order of King Rasp
a, thou are to surrender to us in five days. If thee do not surrender, the mark of a battle will be thy punishment. This falls under the 13th decree that if thou join our cause, that thou people will be spared. Princess Solange Dewa of the Dark Elves, thee shall see that everything is art of the ways of war.
-Lord Apollo, High Priest of the South"

"Send a message to my cousin! My wrath has been fueled by this!" Princess Solange started to run out of the gardens and was ready to prepare a kingfisher for it to fly to the White Spire for help. "I must quietly leave this palace in disguise. I will have revenge."

"Lord Reeron." A elf knight started to walk into Reeron's bedroom as Delia healed him. "There have been reports of a large, scaly person who have been attacking and been using thievery in our lands. A female person who sneaks up on people and takes anything that she thinks is of use to her." Delia then stood back up as she looked at the knight. "Um... will you... will you try to do your best to reduce the chance of thefting?" "I will do my best m'lady." Delia then started to worry as she paced around. "Our people have been suffering from their property disappearing. Father? Who do you think would be the cause of this? It can't be the ogres or the trolls."

"Hmm.." Reeron stopped to think for a while and sat up on the bed with big effort. "What we know for sure is that it's just a bandit with an outgrown ego." he then started. ".. Scaly, you say? In that case it could be one of the lizard-folk. They are known for their brutal warriors." He closed his eyes for a moment.
"Knight... send the Royal Demisers to find the bandit. And tell them, i will still be joining them this day....."

Yacrest sat on the giant throne in the royal chamber once more, shined on by the moonlight that allways surrounded the eastern castle. He seemed to be sunk deep in his own thoughts.
Suddenly, a black bat flew in through the open roof above the throne room. It landed on Yacrest arm as he stuck it out.
"Speak, my spy." The king said.
"Of course, my king.. The northern men are marching towards the eastern borders. They seem to be wanting to aid the dwarves."

Bartimaeus looked at Leonardo "Everything is alright, that Wolf..It was Kerando, he brought me to a safer place so he could give me this.." He held up the sword Kerando and Sabim gave to him. Bartimaeus didn't want to mention Sabim, Leonardo would have thought he's crazy if he said Leonardo's pet lion was really Sabim's physical form.

Kerando appeared in the god's council room "I know what your thinking, Sabim..That was an insain and dangurous act, but i had to give him Flameslave, they might not survive without it."

"You are one of the most reckless gods i've ever met, Kerando..But i do understand why you needed to give Flameslave to Bartimaeus." Venjinda replied as he sat on a large throne that was around a large table, there were 4 thrones, one for each great god. Kerando was sitting on his with his feet up on the table, looking up at the ceiling.

Bartimaeus got back on his horse and noticed a light coming from the edge of the trees. His horse trotted to it with the others and beyond the trees was the bright sun, shining down on them, the forest greens turned into dry landscape and desert flowers scattered every here and there. "We've made it. Now we have to go south for 2 or 3 days and we'll hit a mountain, we take the cave through that mountain and we'll hit the dwarven mountains." Bartimaeus said.

Jiggehlag had sent a letter to Lord Apollo reading:

    My Lord, Apollo:

Everything is going well, we have taken a small portion of land in the western kingdom, your foolish brother in-law, Bartimaeus tried to stop me, but he failed. But i see courage in him, a flame that won't douse, you should be carful of him next time you cross paths with him. I know you don't like anyone mentioning he's your brother in-law but i don't really think it matters, sorry if that made you mad, My Lord. But i feel that you'll see him soon, when you do, tell him i said Hello and then destroy him.

I also feel that we will be able to take more of the western lands, and when we do i will write you another letter.

    Untill then.

    Signed: Maleth Jiggehlag

  9. Sabim, from his throne leaned forward, he was not pleased with Kerando's methods, they were very reckless. However, they had great intentions . . . just bad ways of doing them. Sabim touched his mane and combed it with his claws and lowly growled. Even though his demeanor was young, his age was far beyond the other god's time. "Kerando, if what you think is good, then it would be wise inform the rest of us. As for me, I shall be granting a special blade, made by my own hands for the one known as Leonardo. However . . . he must pass our tests before he gains the blade."

"By now they should be out of the forest and in the desert, right? I think they would probably go for around--What the..?" Kerando sat up in shock. He put out his hand and a bolt of ice came out and hit the wall, covering part of the wall with ice. He walked up to it and a cleaer image could be shown "An army of Easternlings are marching towards the borders where Leonardo's party came from..How did they know they were there..?" Kerando exclaimed. He turned to the others "We have to warn them. They should set up a defensive camp, anything!" Kerando walked up to Sabim "Can't you use that physical form of yours to warn Bartimaeus so he can tell the others?" He asked

  11. "Yes . . . I can, however, it will take some time for me to do so. After all . . . I am an old man," he said with a small smile.

Leonardo and his party, including his friend galloped to the edge of the desert and he looked out over the horizon. "Hmm, it shall be last soon, we should set up a camp for the upcoming night."

OOC: Could you make that post longer, have Leonardo do something.

"Oh come on your not that old, Danagiathan the Dragon god of the dwarves is like ten times older then you." Kerando replied chuckling.

Bartimaeus looked around after they had traveled through the desert for awhile, around a half hour. "This would be a nice place to set up a camp." He said as he looked back at Leonardo

  13. Leonardo nodded to his friend and signaled to his bodyguards to begin setting up camp. "We will set up camp near the first dune of this desert, it will make things easier for us to navigate that way." The bodyguards nodded and galloped ahead of the group. He looked at his friend and began to think of his homeland. "Bartimeaus . . . we have only been away from the kingdom for three hours and I feel as if it has been years. It is normal?"

"For someone like you, who has lived there your whole life. Yes, when i was pulled away from my home in the Egolian lands to here, i was devistated..You'll have to learn to live with it, we may be gone from the kingdom for weeks, maybe even a month..or months..I'm sorry." Bartimaeus replied

The Easternling army marched closer to Bartimaeus and Leonardo's location, about an hour long trip.

Bartimaeus looked out and saw the sea off in the distance he could barely see the island, and to the south, he saw a large moutain in the horizon. "That's the dwarven moutain pass, if we could build a boat large enough to hold all these troops we could travel on the sea to the pass, it would only take about a day where are going all through the desert would take at least 2 or 3..We have 3,000 men..So we'd need at least 3 or 4 boats." he said

  15. Leonardo nodded in approval of the calculations made by his friend, "Yes, it would seem so. However, I feel a great sense of dread coming upon us. I do not know what it is . . . but all I know is that it is ominous indeed." The desert wind blew in Leo's face as he continued to watch and supervise the work of his group of men. They were progressing quickly, as expected. the camp had been undergoing work for only half an hour and already 75% of the camp had been complete. "Well, the sayings are true my friend. Many hands make work light indeed.

Bartimaeus looked at the lion, he heard something in his head "An army approaches, be ready to build boats and fight for your life." Bartimaeus looked at Leonardo "We have to build these boats fast. I sense an army approaching..We have to defend ourselves."

The army was 30 minutes away from their location.

When those 40 minutes past, a defensive perimeter had been built, the first boat was under construction but they didn't have any time left

"MY LORD!" Bartimaeus said as he ran out of his tent. Mostly everyone was sleeping, it was already 9 PM "The army, i can hear them marching, we have to wake the soldiers and defend this place untill the workers can build the boats. It will take at least 2 hours" he said pulling out Flameslave

  17. Leonardo stirred from his rest and looked over the horizon to see a single line of Eastern soldiers. Leonardo's body tensed as he held his hand over his blade. He called out to his troops. "I want half of you stay with me and the other 1500 to get to work upon that boat!"

The soldiers looked at him in surprised, the king had never looked so surprised.
"NOW!!!" he boomed. the soldiers raced to their positions and were ready to battle. Leonardo mounted his horse and drew one of his blades and his lion roared valiantly next to him.

Bartimaeus got on his horse and twirled his sword waiting for the order, as the army approached he shouted out a command to the workers telling them to work as fast and hard as they could, for they didn't have much time.

    BATTLE

    Northern Army Value: 3,000

    Eastern Army Value: 5,000

    Values=A close battle

Bartimaeus, with Leonardo led the men into the first line of the easternling army, around 200 men were in the first line, mostly foot soldiers with spears and pikes. Bartimaeus road in and made his horse kick some of the men. He jumped off and stabbed another, took out his sword from the soldiers chest and slashed another one's gut and then kicked him in the neck. Bartimaeus got back on his horse and fought with the other soldiers.

  19. Leonardo rode hard into the first line of Eastern soldiers and swung down his mighty blade. A lucky soldier got under him and hit him in the chest with a polearm. The horse was unharmed and ran back to the camp, safe. From the ground, Leonardo raised his blade up to block the soldier's attack and kicked him off, sedning him back. He got up and spun to the left and cut down a nearby soldier. One of his bodyguards was with him using his broadsword (Chinese) that was apart of his weaponry as his bodyguard and other bodyguards.

The bodyguard flipped sideways and began swinging his blade. When he landed, three other enemies had been cut down.

Bartimaeus quickly helped Leonardo up. After he did he spun around and slashed an enemy soldier's neck.

About an hour of fighting had gone by, 2 ships were complete, the 2nd one was underway. The eastern army had 2,987 soldiers left, where as the 1,500 with Leonardo and Bartimaeus were all dead, except for 400 of them. Bartimaeus and the others retreated back to the camp.

"We just have to wait a little longer, the 5th line of enemy soldiers is approaching the camp fast. We should have to archers do an arrow volly to flank them." Bartimaeus said as he rapped a rag around his arm where he had been cut by an enemy swordsman
