The New Dawn 5: Shadows Awaken

Rai didn't move for a while, then she shook her head "I would only recognise you from the day we ran into eachother on the street one year ago." it was the truth... but it felt like a lie. Rai felt pulled in two different directions. She wasn't sure if she liked it.
"I'm sorry... I dont think I am who you think I am."

 

Rai held out her hand and touched the handle of the wraped up blade. She lifted it effortlessly she recognised the weight of it. A strange hate rose in her heart for the blade. Raven use to hate the sword for having to rely on it so much. Rai shook her head and gave it back "That object doesn't belong to me..." ... anymore. she had originally been going to say but she stopped herself. She had never owned it at all right? It wasn't hers so there was no need to keep it. She wouldn't be needing it.

 

Rai nodded "Of course I remember my life up to a year ago." she said, that was obvious. What was this guy's deal? For that matter what was her deal? A stranger had broken into her home and watched her sleep for who knows how long and then tried to give her a sword and kept asking her questions about herself and somehow part of her was ok with it!? Part of her trusted him... probably more than anyone but Rai had never seen him before. I dont know this man! she thought to herself, as if she was trying to convince herself of it.

*italisized thing there lol that has a double meaning that Rai isn't aware of. I wonder if anyone can pick up on it. *

 

Kiba smiled "Calder, Siah where were you two making out? I thought I would end up having to walk home alone!"

Siah smiled a little but she scolded her brother for talking like that "Where did you learn to talk like that." she said playfully. Kiba shrugged "Uncle Riku."

Siah laughed "Go figure. I'll have to let mom know to not let you spend so much time around him." she said.

Kiba frowned "You're no fun sis."

Siah ruffled her brother's hair and then left her arm around his sholders, leaving her other hand holding Calder's. "You'll get over it." she giggled.

Rai stared at Voltair, unsure to think if he was crazy or she was at this point. Everything he said sounded familiar to her but at the same time this year wasn't ruins a year ago. She had memories of living here before. "My name hasn't been called Raven since my nineteenth birthday one year ago." she said. "I couldn't be her... I am alive. I'm sorry but I think you are mistaken."

 

Rai shook her head This is crazy! she thought to herself. None of this really happened. You are talking to a raving lunatic who broke into your house in the middle of the night and just happens to know about my weird dreams. Do I talk in my sleep or something? she took a step back toward the door "I'm not called Raven anymore because I changed my name on my birth certificate not because of anything supernatural. I'm just Rai... I'm sorry about your loss but I cant be her because I am not dead, and that sword does not belong to me. I've never handled a weapon in my life."

 

Rai shrugged "Let's see, you broke into my house in the middle of the night, moved around a keychain whenever I wasn't looking, gave me a sword, tried to get me to remember being your dead girlfriend, oh and followed me and Jared here a few hours ago." she laughed a little "Yeah I can see how you better leave now so you wouldn't appear like a stalker." she laughed a little but she realized something that she said that suprised her. He had never said Raven was his girlfriend. I could tell by how he talked about her. she told herself. Her eyes darted from Voltair to the sword, which was left leaning on the wall by the door, back to Voltair again. "Yeah, so I guess I'll see you around."

Arlene appeared next to Saki "Hey there Mr. Boss man." she said with a mocking salute "Just wanted to know what was goin on also the newbie showed up... I think he went to City of Dawn. I gotta say, out of my first glance of the guy I'm not impressed. He may turn out crazier than the soul reader." she leaned against the wall with her arms folded "I'm getting bored of all this waiting around. When do we actually get to have fun on this whole revenge scheme of yours anyway?"

 

Arlene shrugged off of the wall, undolding her arms "Yeah I get the picture. If your new guy refuses to come back then I send him back from where you got him." she said with a nod. She walked out of the room.

Siah smiled as they got closer to home. She looked at Calder "I think my mom is planning something for our graduation. She wont tell me what it is but she isn't extremely good at keeping secrets."

 

Siah looked at Kiba and then understood why Calder stopped speaking. "...hey Kiba. Why dont you run ahead and tell dad Calder and I are going to be a little late." she said with a smile.

Kiba looked suspicious "How come? Where you two gonna go? Why cant I come?"

Siah laughed "Oh thats ok you can come if you really want to Kiba. Calder and I are just going to sit here kissing and all that other couple stuff." she winked at Calder and Kiba looked discused.

"Eew wait till I'm out of sight." he said before he sprinted off toward home. Siah giggled and then looked at Calder "So what were you about to say?"

Arlene appeared on the roof of Rai's house, standing on it and looking out into the streets "The new kid has gotta be close to around here. This is the home of one of the targets Saki gave him." she thought to herself.

Rai suddenly felt uneasy, she could feel in her heart something wasn't right. But she had something else on her mind too. Whats wrong with me!? I dont want him to leave! she thought to herself. Her body acted before her mind had a chance to talk her out of it when her hand reached out and grabbed his. "Wait."
