The Calm Before the Storm (Rated M for Mature)

Hope flinched a little when Jamie rased his voice. She sighed and resed her hand on his sholder "Calm down honey... you're going to hurt yourself." she almost pleaded.

Angel laughed "Well we cant have that." she kissed him "Beause without you who knows what kind of trouble I would get myself into."

 

Hope looked at the monitor and then she looked back at Jamie "You're going to have a heart attack. Litterally Jamie please you have to calm down." She reached over and pushed the button on the remote beside the bed for a nurse's assistence.

Angel smiled "Exactly which means you cant go and roll over in a ditch and waste away because if you do then who will be my hero?" she laughed.

 

Hope ran to Jamie's side and took his hand "Jamie... Jamie please. Can you hear me?" she said, tears ran down her face. She has never been so scared before in her life. What if this was it? Just after they were finally married was he now going to die with her having nothing to do about it?

 

Angel laughed "No I suppose not. There are no other awesome heros like you, Tom."

Hope shook her head, "Jamie... I..." She stood up and backed to the door "I'll be right back... just stay here honey." she studdered. She wasn't sure what to say or do, she wasn't sure if he was just saying that or if he had truly sold his soul to the devil... or if he had lost his mind and nothing he said was making any sence anymore. With tears in her eyes and a heavy heart, she turned and walked out of the room and ran to the ladies room where she locked the door behind her. As soon as she was out of sight, she could see her reflection in the mirror, her eyes were wide and red with worry and lack of sleep. She broke down then, her heart felt like it might break physically and she wrapped her arms around herself, sliding down to the floor, chocking sobs, tears drenching her face. She pulled out her cellphone knowing that if she couldn't talk to someone she may go insane. She looked at her contacts and found Angel was still #1 on her speed-dial.

 

Angel smiled and kissed Tom again but then, she was interrupted when her phone in her pocket vibrated. She was suprised and jumped back with a gasp. She had forgotten that her phone had been there so the movement startled her. She smiled sheepishly and then took the phone out of her pocket, Hope is what the caller ID said. With a confused look she shot Tom an appologetic look and then flipped the phone open "Hello?"

Hope was so glad and relieved to hear her sister's voice but she was crying and she could hardly get a word out. "A...Angel?!"

Angel was confused, why was her sister so distraught on her honey moon? "Hope? Sis are you ok!?"

Hope shook her head, trying to get a hold of herself "Angel... I dont know what to do..."

Angel listened to her sister talk for a moment "Jamie?... What happened?.... Yes I know but how?" She gasped. "Ok... just calm down...."

Hope tried to get a hold of herself but she was very scared and confused, worried and angry all at the same time. It took her a few tries to be able to speak again "...I thought this was supposed to be a peaceful time... What am I supposed to do. Angel I'm so scared."

Angel nodded "I... I know Hope. Just calm down I'll be there. Just stay where you are. Do you understand me?" she waited for Hope's responce and then hung up the phone. She looked at Tom, looking very worried "That was my sister. I have to go be with her."

 

Angel nodded in agreement and shoveled out the fire before she put her shoes back on and looked at Tom "They are in California, we're going to have to fly." she said as she tried to gain control of her own emotions. She knew she would be no help to Hope if she lost it too. She looked at Tom as the two of them started walking back to the car "Apparently Jamie got very sick and Hope thinks it might be something... well something wrong with is mind."

 

Angel got in the car and waited for Tom to go around the the driver's seat before she answered him "I dont know. All I know is she sounds really scared. I've never heard Hope that unsure, scared, and hurt before. never." she said, shaking her head. "All I know is I need to get to her as fast as possible." Angel herself looked very worried but not about Jamie as much as about Hope. She's never in her life seen Hope fly off the handle like this.

 

Angel was suprised by the question, she looked out the window not answering right away. To be honest, she had asked herself that very question quite a few times throughout their lives. But now, when Tom asked it she wasn't sure about the answer "Why?" she asked.
