No, I am not atheist. Actually, I don't think about religion much at all. I don't usually even venture into the Religion threads at the forums I go to. I suppose if I wanted to label myself something, I'd call myself an agnostic. I don't know much of anything :D

I would agree that a true nihilist would probably seem selfish and egotistical. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that someone could actually not believe in everything. I read some kid's (well, it came across like a kid) webpage about being a nihilist, and he had all sorts of reasons why he didn't believe in love, family, God, and other things I can't remember. I wish I could find the link. The kid had said something about how family was just a bunch of people you wouldn't have anything to do with if they all weren't so codependent. It honestly just reminded me of some ranting, hormonal teenager (no offense XD). I would think you'd have to be a pretty unhappy person to choose that way of life.

To clear something up about Agnosticism Toph. Because just being agnostic does not properly "label you". In truth agnosticism isn't a religious background.:

oh, ok. I just seem to find you as more of a person I agree with, but i was wondering if you believed in a religion or god, because you seemed like you didnt. Well, my only suggestion is to read up on some stuff somtime. Religion can be very interesting, if you look deep enough. I always say, who needs fantasy games and books about Dragons when you have religious mythology and ancient texts. It really is like a video game or a book, some of the stories. If all that is up your alley, then maybe reading it for fun woulnd't be to much of a hassle for yah. Just a suggestion, like a good Budhist teacher, no expectation *bow*, lol. But really, its all about logic. If you have a good sense of logic, its easy to tell what is right from what is wrong.

Meh. It suits my purpose to answer the question that way, because I don't consider myself belonging to any particular religion, and it suits my beliefs as well as any. I don't believe that it is possible to know whether there is a God.

My family is unobservant Christian. I suppose I could be labeled that way as well. *shrugs*

I've read bits and pieces of the Bible. I've read Genesis and the Song of Songs/Song of Solomon (I've heard it called both), the latter of which I recall enjoying more than I expected, and possibly more- can't remember. I've read quite a bit of Greek/Roman myths, if that counts. I suppose, when I get the free time to sit and relax, I'd rather read something a bit more light-hearted and fun (though I do find the ancient Greek/Roman myths pretty cool).
I'll argue just about anything, for the sake of a debate, although generally I do voice my own opinions. It's just not as fun if everyone agrees and has the same viewpoint.

Well, which is your preference? I myself am an Agnostic Theist because I am not against the idea that there may be a god, but I am waiting on proof.

If you're not particularly for there being a god but you are willing to accept one should you be proved wrong you would be an Agnostic Atheist.

Well, thats the borderline truth. Well, I'm just saying in my own opinion, that we accept different truths. I'm a Christian but I'm kinda waiting for some proof also. SO I'm agreeing with Haresuno on this one.

I would call myself an agnostic theist as well. I would rather discover that there is a God than that there isn't. But I'm not one to just believe things without proof.

Well thats ok Toph. People are like that. There are those who believe with proof and there are those who believe without proof. Its basically just human nature.

Let me ask you (no this is not a weird question, I'm just going to point something out to you that maybe you've never thought of) when you think of god, what do you think of? What would clasify god if someone could PROOVE that there is a god? Please answer directly, adjectives would be great, trust me on this, I'm gonna point something out after you answer.

a sorry for the 2 post, and i didn't think my link would really work cuz they dont. (to subject)
oh oh me HEY MYTHIRL PICK ME- well if someone could prove god was really then the holy wars would go overload, people would want to know which religion was the right one so they would live a life in hell, ppl would be having debates like were having, the bible would(if this god said something big) would have to be changed, some ppl wouldn't know what to think, atheist might (not hating them or trying to be mean) think it's fake or some would maybe go with it now that they have proof. there would be conflict on which religion was the one you should follow, the super pope leader in Europe would be making big meetings for the world and so would every other religion leader if that religion has one, some would say will dooms0day is here, some would kill themselves, ppl would be scared of what there doing because he's "he sees you when you sleeping, he knows when you awake" thing. and after the five stages of denial , ppl would be yelling at god for answer or the truth scientist would want to know more about evryhting, some ppl would go to lenghts to bribe god to be on there side( i mean you have GOD!? WHAT BETTER WEAPON THEN THAT?) and then ppl would excuse him for leaving us in the dakr with only a book and faith and letting us die, and he would say i gave you free will and this is what you did, i have done nothing. and then soon devil comes up big army Jesus comes big army holy war in new york dooms day dead ppl, devils dead Jesus won, game over god took you king, peace on earth.

WELL that was long, what ya think?

I wasn't asking if God came down to earth and showed himself, I was asking for Toph's discription of god for her own personal faith. Your post had nothing to do what I was talking about, but it did bring up many good points and I thought ,even for random crap, it was cool and interesting, haha.

Sorry, I'd seen your post, but I didn't have enough time to answer before. Kinda don't have enough now either, but I'll try.

Really, all I want in some sort of higher power is a sense of fairness/justice. I would like to know that people who get dealt a crappy hand in this life could have it better, or people who try to do good in the world could be rewarded, whether in a heavenly place, or by being reincarnated into a happier life, or whatever. I don't really care about specifics on how this would work. And I'd like to know that people who do terrible things and go unpunished in our world will somehow get what's coming to them (a just punishment for their crimes) after they die.

I don't care what this higher power looks like, though if I had to describe it right now, I'd probably describe the traditional Christian God, since that is what I'm familiar with. Eh, I'll come back to this later when I'm not runnning late.

    >_<

@Answer Man, for the love of God, please spell check your posts and capitalize your sentences. My eyes and brain hurt after the first sentence, and I couldn't force myself to finish reading. Even if English isn't your first language, you could make an effort.

I think all of you should read a book called the Lost Symbol. Real good & is religious in a way. Still, I was disturbed when I read something about the characters saying that humans are equal to God in power or something. Might have read it wrong, but the part about having "The Kingdom within you." is true. Also, why is it that each religion never do come together?

Mmmmmmmm, I agree with you, and basically I BELIEVE IN THAT GOD. But the material you presented did not give me enough of what I wanted to point something out.

God represented in most religions is all powerful, omnipotent, and is everlasting, correct? Now, let me ask you this question, for it is more direct. What else in the world portrays all three qualities? You're probably thinking "What the hell are you talking about Mythril, there is nothing in this universe that posses all of those qualities, you and I both now that", right? But that is in correct. You see the truth is right under your nose. The answer....is numbers. Our lives are surrounded by numbers, numbers have always existed and they exist everywhere. There is no were without numbers.

-___- Oh no. A Math god. Tell me Mythril, which religion are you really a part of? I'm being serious about this because you always talk about every religion & go along with all of them except christianity only because of some people who did some things in your life during your christian life.
