I didn't bother to read every post on this last page, so if I'm a little off on the conversation, I'm sorry.

Satanists who say that there is only one single rule given to them, to avenge themselves when wronged, are not really satanists.

Real Satanists are called by some Darklites. The rules given to them are very simple as well. And its only one. Spill the blood of the innocent.

Darklites kidnap random people and kill them for sport.

I probably shouldn't post this link, so I won't. (don't wanna get in trouble. lol)
Just know that there's worse out there. A lot worse.

^ I've seen alot of cases about "darklite" ritual killings, thats horrible stuff.

Personally my take on religion is that the universe was created by a god, but he doesn't really meddle much in human affairs (thats called deism). I agree that all religion is basically the same also.

Well first I'd like to address a point of science vs. religion: Science is not a truth. It is a way of finding the truth. I'm sure most of you know this, but I figured I would say it sooner than later.

I used to be Christian, until I decided to broaden my horizons further to realize more. I'm not Christian NOR am I atheist. So I consider myself agnostic. ;]

Christianity has many references and practices used in many, many other religions long predating it. It has very cliché concepts that come from ALL prehistoric religions, almost. Most of this is in reference to early astrological interpretations by people before they made definite conclusions about their findings. Looking at this evidence, it's hard to really see how Christianity--or any religion for that matter--is correct. You can only believe what you see in our universe, imo. If it's felt, well that's different.

I have to say though that the Greek mythology is my favorite. Poseidon all the way!

The darklites are an extreme satanic cult. They are frowned upon by most satanic churches, and followers. And, there are some Christian groups like that. To name one, the Nazis.

Don't let the bad minority bring the good majority down.

And Figure.09. You sound like a Dessiest (not a Deist before anybody tries to correct me). You think that there MIGHT be a god, but need more proof.

Does anyone else here think Scientology is stupid?
Its just another form of atheism. To say you're a scientologist is just to stake a claim on beliefs, and that's belief in nothing at all.

In fact, Stanists (not the darklites) have just that one rule. Its just atheism all over again.

^ Scientology actually has to do with aliens called thetans lol.

Scientology's beliefs and related techniques comprise 18 basic books,[27] and 3,000 recorded lectures.[28] There is no single Scientology book that is the equivalent of the Bible or the Qur'an, but the study of Scientology is achieved through the chronological study of its basic books and lectures.[29]

Scientology describes itself as "the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life,"[30] and "encompasses all aspects of life from the point of view of the spirit" — including "auditing"[31] and training in morals, ethics, detoxification, education and management.[32]

Prime among Scientology's beliefs is "that man is a spiritual being whose existence spans more than one life and who is endowed with abilities well beyond those which he normally considers he possesses."[33] Scientology believes man to be basically good, that his experiences have led him into evil, that he errs because he seeks to solve his problems by considering only his own point of view, and that man can improve to the degree he preserves his spiritual integrity and remains honest and decent.[34] According to the Church, the ultimate goal is: "a civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights."[35]

The Church of Scientology declares that the goal of Scientology is to achieve "certainty of one’s spiritual existence and [of] one’s relationship to the Supreme Being,"[36] and says that Scientology's tenets are not a matter of faith but of testable practice: "That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true."[37]

The exact nature of all of existence is said to be stated in Hubbard's Scientology and Dianetics Axioms.

    Other beliefs of Scientology are:[38]

    * A person is an immortal spiritual being (termed a thetan) who possesses a mind and a body.
    * The thetan has lived through many past lives and will continue to live beyond the death of the body.
    * Through the Scientology process of "auditing," people can free themselves of traumatic incidents, ethical transgressions and bad decisions which are said to collectively restrict the person from reaching the state of "Clear" and "Operating Thetan." Each state is said to represent the recovery of native spiritual abilities and to confer mental and physical benefits.
    * A person is basically good, but becomes "aberrated" by moments of pain and unconsciousness.
    * Psychiatry and psychology are destructive and abusive practices.[39]

Members are studying Scientology and are receiving auditing sessions to advance from a status of preclear to Operating Thetan.

That's all good, but Scientology doesn't actually follow that.

It's insane to charge people money to attend a scientologist church before they've officially joined, they have a pyramid scheme (you have to give a present to the person who converts you), and some scientologists believe that its wrong to talk to other people outside of scientology.

And, there process of getting people to relieve themselves of traumatic stress or other things, is a form of psychology, so they're contradicting themselves.

    That's what I was thinking.
Like I said before. Scientology is just another way to say you believe in something, when you're really just atheist.

Actually, you're not. Scientology is the belief that Xenu (this is serious, and not just from South Park) a galactic emperor trapped 1,000 alien souls in a volcano using a hydrogen bomb. We're there spawn.

Xenu is apparently some sort of god, and they do have praying times.

It has less to do with science than most major world religions do.

    ill say one thing
    i havent read anything previous
    i saw something about satanics
    satanism is a self worship
people who WORSHIP satan are christian
im not saying all christians are satan worshippers
but to worship him you need to believe in a religon that he actually exists in

Ummm, he's not stating his opinion. He's stating a fact. Those are the official beliefs of Scientology. There's not multiple ways to see it in the respect that you're talking. It simply is what it is.

lol And yes you are correct.

    @sma2112

Did you even read what I said? The Satanic Satan has nothing to do with the Christian Satan. And he fully exists in Satanism. Did you just say that Satanism wasn't real?

I'm sorry, but my ignorance alarms won't stop going off. You've broken them.

    @Figure

Nah, Agnostics are pretty much atheists, but they won't say that they don't believe in god, just in case.

Yeah, that's true. But scientology is just a bunch of made-up nonscense so people can state crazy beliefs, get money for starting a religion, and then say they have something to believe in. It's just rediculous.

^^Well that's not a very helpful post, there's nothing to back up your claim.

When a religion is 'started' its intention is the major determining factor. Some religions have been started with great intentions, but foolish people (ie. not the religion) misinterpret the premise or guidelines posed by the religion and do bad things giving religion a bad name (I can't think of a single religion where this hasn't happened). It's only fair that people badmouth religion, but usually I find that if I ever sat down with someone who thought religion was a cult, I could convince them otherwise (note that I didn't say convert). I wouldn't 'make them believe' and instead I would merely explain what it is that I believe, and using my interpretation show that, at least for me, it's not just some cult warping my brain: I remain an independent thinker. (This isn't going to happen here, as I won't go into what it is I believe...so you'll have to take these words with a grain of salt). But the point is, if there is at least one person in which you didn't believe they were part of a cult for being in a religious group, you would have to say "Well, it doesn't HAVE to be cult-like...so that's people's mistake, not the religion's."

Some religions however, like scientology, or...ugh....Jediism...have been started for reasons which seem a little strange, to me at least. Some religions have been started out of rebellion (which I believe is wrong), others for just plain silly reasons (ie. emulating a movie (jediism)), and others for 'popularity' or fad-like reasons, like scientology (this is just my opinion).

P.S. when did it become witty or cool to badmouth religion or God? When it become uncool for someone to talk about religion? I mean let's face it: If a guy sees a hot girl, he's going to go for some casual sex over a deep intellectual conversation.

Yeah, that's pretty much me though. In RL I act and give off an atheist kind of aura because I get so argumentative about certain aspects of religions. I say I don't believe in God all the time, too. But not necessarily THE God. Just the westernized version that Americans have created. -_-a
