... By the "What happened" comment, I meant about you not liking muslims or whatnot.

And wasn't scientology started because of a bet? The guy had a bet that he could start a religion or summat...

you are right. but because man is sinful, we bicker over pride and truth, when many who do such are wrong.
My sig says it all, "He who knows best knows how little he knows."

you may see christianity as that, but you are some what wrong, allow me to correct you. Our inner beliefs are our relationship with God, but christianity is in and of itself a religion. Like Hitler stained the name "Arian", Countless figures in history have stained the name of Christianity, and by calling christianity a relationship with God is staining that very thing you hold most dear as well...

it is an application of questions, not logic neccesarily. Although logic answers questions most of the time, logic can sometimes be to vague to find the absolute fact and/or truth in any given circumstance.
Religion is not the application faith, for science is also based on faith in theories of men trying to understand our universe, such that if you try and down grade religion to that very thing, then you merely bring it down to YOUR level.
If you try and disregard the Bible, and make people forget what lies underneath the pages that are tainted in evil men's interpretation, then you strip it of freedom for that which what it is, and that would be a code. A truth hidden in mere riddles. A "myth" if you will, but truth is often found in myth, for what is history of the ancients based upon? Interpreted myth.
The world is in the state it's in because of MAN, not religion. Thats like blaiming the gun instead of the man who pulled the trigger. Its not the gun's fault, nor the person who made the gun, but the man who took the gun, and went out to do evil upon another soul in this world. Blaiming the gun is foolish my friend...
And the over pointless nuances are liberals.

religion is classified as a group's beliefs, yes, and what lies in common with such beliefs, but all beliefs differ, therefore religion constitutes no true meaning, because as beliefs are changed, so do the religions. So to say a religion has not been played with by man is foolish, and to say that it has HAS MEANING. Religion is compromised of man, and man is evil, so what can we truly constitue through vague logic? Religion is thus evil. But out beliefs are not. Each individuals relationship with God is in a sense "divine".
Our actions yes, but words are lies. Letters that are re-arranged over time to fit another man's tongue. Words are weak, words are foul.
"People" can change on the outside, but the inside does not, thats why it is so deceiving.
Again, thoughts are mere filters for our beliefs.
The filters can change what our beliefs perceive, but not what they are or are compromised of.

    ??
What the hell are you talking about? Please expand a bit summonerbrandon, I'm left confused...

I think I am going to start my own religion someday. It will call Yukoism. Where you can do what ever you want and still go to a higher place.

In today's world, any one can start their own religion. Thanks to the Freedom of Religion.

Wouldn't it be a bit more of a way of life rather than a set of beliefs, then? And also, the scientology people should change the name of their religion. "The study of science". Nooooot really.

    .......0.o?
you do that. Your only going to bring in dirtballs and scare away the real people who wish good onto the world. If you sin and think that if you repent you can go sin again and again, then you are a sick and twisted individual that will never find peace in the afterlife.
Just by making a religion doesn't mean its "right" Yukou, remember that.

(Also, Freedom of Religion is a beautiful thing, and in "today's world", we need to show more respect to the Founding Fathers for creating such a great country!)

    religion?
You could call it a life style, maybe, but then again many christians only go to find some type of self assurance that they'll get into heaven if they go every once and a while. They aren't real christians, so there your turning the judgment of the "way of life" (in christianity) into one that makes 51 (or more) % of those who are fake christians that go every once and a while look "good", and the other 49 (or less)% that are true to the religion mostly look "bad". Its sladering the judgement of Christianity.

    Also, scientologists are just crazy....
    0.o
    WHAT?!
lets try and get off the crazy crap, we all know these people in it are messed up, so lets "let them be!"
Lets debate REAL religions, instead of crazy occults.

I have REALLY got to stop using vague pronouns... I was commenting on Yukou's 'religion'.

AWhat makes you so high and mighty that you can smash other people's dreams like that? 'bring in dirtballs and scare away those who wish good unto the world' - What makes you so sure that her 'religion wouldn't bring in good people?

Because good people dont sin again and again, only to repent falsly ever once in a while.
Good people don't accept sin as a way of life, they except good words, good toughts, and good actions.

This is only my opinion though.

Ok what is a Sin. Anything you do can be called a sin? Like what summoner said in the Abortion thread, Who started Abortion, well I am going to re word it, Who started sin? Was it some thing that we where born with? Or was force on to us.

Everything we do is a sin. Over eat, watch porn, as policemen, shoot and kill criminals, and as a student, lie to our parents, teachers, and friends over stupid stuff, such as homework, etc.

Did the Bible dictate the sins too us? Like I try to get across, people can tell me what the Bible says, blah blah, I'll pay attention and keep it to memory, but I am not going to follow it.

Don't get me wrong, that does not make me a bad person. I know what is the different between right and wrong.

Some religions are some what of a cult.

Let us not forget that christianity started as a cult....

yes, we sin everyday, all the time. Thats why we are a race of evil. I don't truly accept this, because I know that there is some good in us. But the majority of our race is in fact "evil", in every sense of the word.
The Bible has nothing to do with the origin of sin. It doesn't dictate anything, its a book.
It all goes back to Genisis and the Legend of the Fall of the Angels. That is why we sin. We chose Satan over God, therefore we must truly repent in our hearts.
And yeah, sometimes religions feel like cults, or they very well ARE cults.

expand, i dont think thats true...

    I'm glad you asked, Roxas!

You see, Rome grew as a big power, blah, blah, blah, up until around the end of the age of Augustus, when there were many cults lying about rome. People ran about every day in Roman Jerusalem saying that their messiah was coming (Of various cults, mind you.), and so on. Now, Christianity was one of those cults - as said by Constantine about 300 years later, in the 'Edict of Milan': 'that no one whosoever should be denied freeedom to devote himself to the cult of christians or to such religion he deems best suited to himself, so that the highest divinity, to whose worship we pay allegiance with free minds, may grant us in all things his wonted favour and benevolence.'

Want a source to go with that?

    i would appreciate one, yes.
That is very interesting, and I've heard theories on it. I'm open to the possibility, but not totally a "believer" yet (haha).

    Avalantos Mr. Detective

Havn't bothered to read the entire topic, the fact that religion was spelled wrong on the topic title said it all for me, I'm just going to share my stance. I believe in a divine power that aids us in life, not God, more like Karma. I hate hardcore religions that attempt to discredit other theory's with a passion. I.E - The dickhead attempting to mock the Lemur Link in evolution and made a complete twat of himself.

    Oh, hi. I'm back.

    Letsee. . .

Christianity - Morals are great, stories and whatnot are bogus, and I hate zealots - Like Louisiana Baptists.. Don't bite my head off over it.

Scientology - I don't know a whole lot - but the whole thing is laughable.

Buddhisim - Now THIS is a peaceful religion. I like this.

Confucisim (Or however it's spelled) - Coolness. But not exactly a religion.

Muslim - Some of the nicest people I have met. Their doctrine is rather strict.

Greek/Roman/Egyptian/Feudal Japanese/Feudal Chinese/Any pre-modern polytheistic religion - Very fun to study, but rather untrue.

    we've missed you.
I agre with you all the way here man, I believe that God = karma. Like 2 = 2/1

interesting, I agree with you mostly, but I think the myths and stories in religions lead to another truth that has yet to truly be explored. And that all leads to the fact that ancient myths have created a coratlation between God and aliens/science/technology.
