Powers? 2- The Shards of Yuleania

The same strange fearful darkness which Leah had experienced earlier that night began to grow through the trees as Aiden walked. And then, there was something standing in his way. It was very tall but also thin, its face was hidden by a black hood and the very air around it, or him/her, or whatever it was was very cold. Its voice was a harsh but loud whisper. "What are you running from little hero." it said. Its voice seemed detached from it's sorce, comming from just about everywhere but the creature speaking. "Your friends are in danger and you run from yourself."

Leah felt really strange, partly she was trying to figure out what on earth to do about Tom and partly she wondered if things were ever going to be the same with her and Aiden. Had she been honest with him when she had told him she didn't love him? What did it matter if Tom had kissed her. Yulenian by blood or not he was still raised on Earth and Earth boys were extremely strange possibly kissing someone meant something different there than it did in Yulenia. She sighed trying to focus on more important things like whatever that thing had been that had spoken to her in the clearing. What had it said to her again 'the time to fear would come again?' she worried about what it possibly could have meant.

 

The entity that was in Aiden's path disappeared into the shadows. It came back into view standing above Aiden. "So you run from yourself." its harsh laugh could be heard again. "Pethetic." the darkness of the forest deepened. It was very cold and the woods felt very unwelcoming. The very sight and feeling around was that of death and fear.

A womans voice cut in "Now Esires." another person came into view. She was also cloaked in a black hood "Lets not be rude."

The unknown entity only backed away, with a sigh of it's breath that only made the air colder and made a few of the trees and creatures that lived in them groan with protest at the extreme and sudden drop in temperature.

"Leave our poor friend alone." she crouched down in front of Aiden who was still on the ground from tripping on the log "I'm sure Aiden has had a rough day what with Leah giving him the cold sholder and then Faye.... tsk tsk tsk." she reached down to Aiden and put her hand under his chin, lifting his face up to see hers as she removed her hood, knowing that he would recognise her face even in the darkness. "Now is your chance to get what you want Aiden... dont run away from it. It will only follow you."

 

Rachael nodded to the creature "Well done Cain." she said approvingly. "I have other things to speak to you of in a moment regarding your studies in finding the shards. But that is a conversation for another time." she followed after Aiden who was motionless. "I am well aware of your problem, Aiden. I had the same one." she didn't seem very upset about it though, in fact she sounded smug about it. "The dreams, the thoughts of harming someone you thought you cared about. Leah seems to have that effect on people." she laughed a bit "See, it happened to me just after she was chosen as the heir to the throne of Yuleania even though everyone knew I was more adequate for the job. And now she publicly rejects you for some lost half inbetween boy raised on Earth that doesn't even like her as well as you do." she shrugged "It's only natural that your destined... temperment... for lack of a better word, should come after something like that." she knew she was talking of things that would upset him. That was the goal after all.

 

Rachael's soft giggle sounded very odd after Aiden's shout of rage "No I wont." she said simply "The creator of the game doesn't fear her pawns." she shrugged "You're a useful piece of the puzzle Aiden. I can already tell." she said as she walked around to stand in front of him. She could feel his fear and so could her followers, especially the unknown tall one who seemed to be controling the fearsome dark and cold atmosphere. "You needn't feel afraid..." she said a bit more calmly, almost like she was trying to be friendly or comforting as she reached out to Aiden.

Leah was startled when she heard sound outside. It sounded faint, like it was comming from a great distance. She walked over to the window "Aiden?" she thought to herself, trying to make sense of the noise she had heard.

She decided she better check on him to make sure he was ok as she closed the window again and walked toward the door and started down the hall toward Aiden's room. To her astonishment and worry she found that he wasn't there. Now a bit more panicked she left Aiden's room and went to the door right next to his: Tom's room. He wasn't there either.

 

Rachael smiled a bit "Thats all I wanted to hear old friend..."
She was about to answer Aiden's questions when Cain interrupted. She sighed "Of course he did. He was raised on a barbaric world I suppose so genious or not I'm not suprised to see that impatience is a quality he has."

Leah was outside of the Inn. She needed to find out where Tom and Aiden went and why she had heard Aiden scream. Could it have something to do with the creature she saw in the clearing earlier? She dreaded what could have happened and using some footprints she found just under Tom's window she ran in that direction, hoping she was going the right way.

Rachael nodded once to Cain to let him know she didn't want Aiden released just yet as she looked off in the direction of where she could also sense the presense of an 'earth dweller'. "You need not hide, Tom of two worlds." she said patiently "What harm do you think will come from me and my friends?"

Rachael shrugged "I merely spoke truth. We are all pawns in the game of life so why look at that as a negative. He is in chains because he is obviously a bit short tempered right now." she smiled a bit "Though I'm sure the genious half oracle boy like yourself should see right through any excuses I might have so why not cut right to the chase huh."

Leah stoped when Tom's tracks suddenly stopped. She glared "Now thats just weird he cant have teleported that far." she said to herself, getting a bit annoyed about why she couldn't figure out what was going on. She looked a bit suprised by the conclusion she reached "He cant have flown..." she said shaking her head "It's not a Yuleanian power."

Rachael continued speaking "As for your questions directed at my most loyal follower, he acts under my direction. Not that it really matters, you would do better to just return home to the parents you have on Earth and forget ever meeting Aiden or my Foster Sister or the small time you had to meet your real father. You dont understand this world, Tom."
