Origins 2: Forgotten Bonds

Xemnas, surprisingly, chuckled. Nevr had he shown anything that even resembled emotion before now. "I won't stop you. Should you try to take the entire Darkness away, you'll not only take with you all of the darkness from the worlds, but you will be killing Jordan." Xemnas looked back at Selena and smile, "You'll either kill Jordan on the spot, or cause him to endure the most pain he has, or will, ever endured in his life. You would, in turn, eventually die as well." He paced back and forth and said, "Jordan is the only being that can allow the Darkness to live inside him and remain in control. I should know. I did, after all, give it to him."


Minutes later Jordan returned, waitress smiling behind him.

"See you again Jordan," she told him. She the gave a friendly wave to Violet as she began to clean the table off.

Jordan waved at the waitress and now looked at Violet. "Ready for our walk," Jordan asked, holding his hand out for her to get up. He noticed a wet streak that had went down her face, but the tear was gone. "What's wrong," he asked, using a thumb to wipe away the streak.

 

Xemnas shook his head, dismissing her statement. "Jordan has a very odd heart. One that cannot survive without darkness. When he was born, had it not been for a Keyblade Master, Jordan would have been dead. He had a heart that held no darkness, but also no light. The doctors had pronounced him dead on the spot. A mysterious Keyblade Master was in the area and decided to give your brother a heart of darkness, hoping that it would turn Jordan into a demon of sorts," he said. He looked over at Will and continued, "Like your friend, Will's, other half. However, Jordan showed no change in behavior. The man watched him until his death, a year later." Xemnas walked up to Selena and smiled. "The only light your brother had was the light given from his family. And...others. Which is why he could wield a Keyblade. As far as I know now, he's completely abandoned the light for darkness.

"Now my role in all of this was merely a scientific role, not just to help normalize your brother, who would have been a depressed and incomplete child without our help." He thought for a moment before deciding what he'd do. He walked up to Selena and put his hand on her chest, above her heart. And then, slowly, bit by bit, he gave her the memories.




Braig stared out of the window and watched Angel, Lumaria and the other two boys play outside. He looked back at Xehanort who was currently on his computer. "Ugh, where do you want him," Braig asked, carrying a small child who couldn't have been older than four or five. Xehanort looked back at Braig slightly before sighing. "Just lay him there. Go retrieve Even," Xehanort said, pointing to the ground where two other boys laid.

Braig groaned and laid the boy down and replied, "Yeah, yeah, I know the drill. But, you don't think this is at least a little wrong?" Braig had obviously began to doubt Xehanort's work. Xehanort always figured he did at least.

"Hell we don't even know this kid! Why not get someone like that Lea kid, or even Lu-" Xehanort sighed loudly and replied, "If we want a subject with an unbiased opinion of us, it must be a stranger." Braig scoffed and rolled his eyes. "As if their hearts ain't biased. We kidnapped them! They're probably terrified!" Xehanort groaned and stood up to argue with Braig.

"Fear is just one factor the darkness feeds on. It is this that will help us understand it! And if we do this right, we'll actually be able to have one of these boys host the Darkness!" Braig stopped talking. "Host the darkness? Like be able to use-" Xehanort groaned again.

"Have you not been paying any attention to our research? There are those who can use the powers of darkness, then there is ONE who is capable of enough for hosting the entire entity that is the Darkness. I have gathered that, possibly, one of these boys is the one." Braig watched as Even walked into the room and whisper something to Xehanort before giving him something else. Even looked at Braig for a moment before walking off.

Xehanort put the item in his pocket for later and started up his machine. The machine acted as a portal that connected directly to a realm that was below that of even the Realm of Darkness. This realm reached an entirely different level of dark beings and was where the entity, the Darkness, rested. Xehanort called it, the Void. Braig shook his head and sighed before crouching next to one of the kids.

"So who do you want first? Darian, Jordan or Co-" Xehanort looked at him. "Cole. We will do him first. I would enjoy seeing his body take pressure from the Void. He and Jordan portrayed little fear of anything when you watched them, correct? That's peculiar for children at their age. I say we do Cole first, Darian second, and Jordan last." Braig nodded and picked up the white haired boy. He gave him to Xehanort who looked down at him with a smile. "You are about to be apart of something great my friend. Something great indeed." And with that, he rolled the unconsious boy into the Void, and awaited the results.



He took his hand away slowly and said, "As for Jordan and Darian, I do not remember how it went."


Jordan cocked his head to one side, like a confused puppy, before smiling and lifting her chin up slowly. "Well whatever the reason, cheer up. You're too beautiful to cry," he said, grinning. He then held her hand as he prepared to leave for the walk around the harbor.

 

Xemnas looked at Xigbar, who looked back at Xemnas, with his hands up. "Hey, I'll fight for 'ya but you know you brought this on yourself, right," he asked before looking at Selena, guns lighting up.

Vexen smirked as he gripped his shield tight. "If you're lucky, we may be able to spare you for....scientific studying," Vexen told Selena, thoughts of dissection and other horrible means of scientific study running through his mind.

Xemnas then raised a hand and said, "That won't be necessary."

The others looked at him, confused by his words.

He stepped forwand said, "Selena, that is all I remember of those studies. Cole did not return, Darian was rejected, and your brothers fate is unknown to all of us except him and the Darkness. I have no real reason for why you should not strike me down now. I saved your brother from an eternity of emptiness. You cannot stop the inevitable fate of Jordan, nor will killing me bring any true satisfaction." He now awaited Selena's response.


Jordan looked at Violet with a smile and then lookd at the sky. "Peaceful....yeah, this is. But to be honest with you," he sighed and looked at the ground, "there's no real peace. With so many things going on...it's actually quite stressful." He looked back up, staring at the horizon as if he were alone, and said, "But this moment, right now...this is the only peace we'll see for a long time."

 

Jordan chuckled, "You think so? With the Darkness, it's not so simple. Especially when the only real source of nutrition comes from hearts." He smiled and looked up at the sky. "But don't worry...I know how to fix it. I know how to fix all of it."


Xemnas nodded and replied, "Xaldin speaks the truth. Speak to your brother if you hav further questions. There is nothing more to say nor that we remember."



The young Devlin smiled at Xemnas and stuck his hand out. "Four months than!"

As Xemnas put his hand out to shake the extended hand of Devlin, Devlin quickly pulled back.

"But, I don't want to be forgotten like what you did with Cole. I'm not the kind of guy who likes being forgotten."

Xemnas hesitated for a second before shaking his hand and saying, "Agreed."


And with that, the memory began to fade away. Devlin looked at Darian and said, "Yeah, pretty crazy, huh? Ready for the next?"

 

Xemnas sighed, growing tired of the questions, and responded, "He's been questioning me on things such as Kingdom Hearts. He is particularly fond in wondering how it operates and how to obtain it. What reasons he has for wanting such knowledge, I do not know."


Jordan scoffed and mumbled, "You and me both." He stopped walking once the two had rwached the edge of the harbor. Feeling a breeze roll in across the city, Jordan casually put his jacket around Violet before staring up at the moonlit sky. "Beautiful, isn't it," he asked, looking at Violet with a cheery smile.

 

Jordan, now smiling even harder than before, looked down before looking back up and replying, "Not as nearly as much as I love you." He leaned in to give Violet a small kiss before looking back up at the starry sky.



Xemnas was now finished. and replied, "I believe we are done here Selena. Pleases see your way out or, I'm sure, these fine men will gladly make you leave. If you have further questions, why not consult your brother. After all, you two ARE family." And before Selena could say anything else, Xemnas disappeared.
