    Up & Down Spin

    22 June 2008
    Kew, England

    Humans, gyroscopic in their ways,
Knock 'em over and ego stands on end,—
It's their nature to twirl about themselves
& In that swirl to lose sight of all else

That also revolving forms north and south
With a declination in an orbit
Also circling ; captured by another
Sphere that spins aligning itself in space

    Where denuded of protons electrons
Charmingly colour spin with up or down,
Yet they dance not in vain to destiny
For time will bring positive to draw near.

    Royal Garden Rains

    9 July 2008
    Kew, England

There's some-thing yet of Fantasy left in the world
As I watch raindrops plunging down with lassitude
There's no dissembling of any exactitude
    It's just a splitter-splatter-plip-plop without beat

But I know this cool rain is quite a special treat
Inviting at day's end to special luxury
Of brief moments to warm under thick coverlets
As I curl up and dream about some ancient Lord

    Maybe it's just laziness
    But it could be craziness
    Causing all this messiness
    Leaving all in haziness
    Souring every happiness

    Heard that for frogs hydrazine
    Is antihypertensive
    Degrading cell defensive
    Protection so invasive
    Parasite worms destructive
    Break frail life-chain productive

    As Spring Nears

    1 March 2009
    Flour Bluff, Texas

I've let the dark green grass grow tall out back
Perhaps a wish to never have to shave
That I can keep and grow behind fenced walls.

When sun is high and shining through sharp blades
Warm yellow brings a pleasant tinge of spring
Making my small yard pulse life with fresh green.

I've always felt a need to loose constraints
    Yet always held rigid geometry
To rule the bounds of my sensuality.

So simple this,—to set a chair aside
To sit under cerulean skies and sun.
A measured time,—a measured dose with green.

It's changed, but so do they

    5 July 2009
    Kew, England

That garden that I glance on
    From my attic perch
Once full of bright tall grass
    With dandelions in which cats
    Would dance with glee
Is now quite full of brambles
    And summer's dull, full heat.

But then the tall oak that was there
    Has been brought down
Allowing me full view of windows
    Behind which neighbours change
    Moulting their night clothes
For grey and white and black
    In parody of season's flight.

    In a Garden Small

    6 December 2009
    Flour Bluff, Texas

In life's garden blooms green hope
    Hidden under mint leaves
    Like brown dappled toad;

    Brushing softly lavender
    Spice whispers butterfly
    Of grey snake's slither;

    Trimming basil crowning seeds
    Thumb and finger smell sweet
    From their murderous deeds;

But my favorite is white rose
    For she tends blanch friendship
    With sharp thorns in rows.

    Fawn Darner's Lavender

    31 March 2010
    Flour Bluff, Texas

    Brown dragonfly still on blue
In bright sunlight bound by glue
    As spring zephyr gusty blew

    It died smelling lavender
    A choice subtle and tender
    I wonder how Fawn Darner

Came to green bough with purple?
Did it hear my hose burble
    As I watered less trouble?

    Its tan and brown camouflage
So smoothly hued for day's age
Like my white and grey visage

    In anonymity say
What path each life chose as way
    With perfume select to stay.

    For my lavender sachet
Near heart stays to soothe soul's ache
For that morn when I won't shake.
