Dirk started for the door, when he heared to guards talking about the soup."Poor prisoner, doesn't know the cooks posioned the soup!" Dirk became inraged and walked to the cook feeding the prisoner, and grabbed him by the throat.

'DID YOU POSION THE MEAL!?! YOU PROBABLY DIDN"T KNOW, BUT THE RULER OF ALL ATRROX WANTED HIM ALIVE!!!" Dirk flung him into the wall killing him almost instantly. "You other cook better get the cure for the posion or you will be feed to the alligators!" The cook went running out the room quicker than most people could run. Dirk spoke to the prisoner," I'm sorry, next time I'll watch it be made myself, just hang in a littler longer."

 

Caedus smiled.

"I decided to check on your situation. and yes, my side trip was... Productive. Dirk also succeeded in doing a considerable amount of damage to Teyos. It can easily be conquered with a number of our troops in a few weeks at best."

Caedus gave Seth a sly grin.

"I also have something, or better yet, someone... You might be interested in meeting... Follow me."

Caedus rode off towards Valentine Castle, knowing Seth would follow him.

 

Dirk was still waiting for the cure when one of the gaurds came running up,"Lord Seth and Lord Caedus have returned." Dirk than ran up the stairs to meet them before they see the prisoner. Dirk had come out of the dungoen to see them headed his way. Dirk got on his knees and said

"I am sorry my lords, but the prisoner has been fed posion by the cooks, I killed the one and I sent the other to look for the cure, please forgive me."

 

Destructive, huh? Vivienne contemplated Mithyl's caveat, amused. His words brought about a sense of nostalgia; the townspeople of Lato would undoubtedly say the same thing. Mithyl proceeded to introduce himself as a blacksmith from Monos, aspiring to stop the war. A part of her had been skeptical about his profession—her inner hero-worshipper had expected him to be a holy knight, or something along those lines. She immediately reprimanded herself for doubting him, however.

A powerful, miracle-granting blacksmith sounded awesome, anyway.

Vivienne forced herself to keep on track. "Then, Mithyl," she began, "do you suppose you could accompany me to… Attrox?" She looked up at him hopefully, "I won't—I'll try not to let revenge affect my judgment."

 

Caedus sneered when he heard of Dirk's failure. Without a word, he pushed the soldier out of the way and made his way into the prison chambers. He stared at Jake for a moment, who appeared to be suffering from the toxin. Caedus focused his energy, and removed the toxin from Jakes bloodstream. this way, Jake would still feel the effects of the poison, but there was no chance for permanent damage.

"Seth, my friend, this is Jake, quite an interesting fellow too. a magic adept, quite capable of handling large amounts of troops on his own."

Caedus grinned.

"And Jake, this is Seth Daigun, one of the great Battle Lords of Attrox, and my close personal friend."

 

Dirk knew he desvered more than a push on the floor, but followed the lords into the prisoners cell of no escape. The cook sooned arrived with the cure a little to late. Dirk grabbed him by his throat" My lords I think this one deserves a little more suffering than the other that I threw againest the wall over there. what should I do with him, maybe we should feed him his own posion. what do you think my lords."

 

Caedus noted Seth's advice and locked his sword in its sheath. As he walked with Seth out of the cell, Dirk approached the two of them yelling about what to do to the cook. Without a word, Caedus lifted his finger, pointing it at the cook. A small glow appeared at the tip of Caedus's finger, and in an instant, the cook was incinerated, choking on ozone from the lightning blast.

Caedus and Seth walked a safe distance from the others and Caedus began conversating.

"I beleive you can see why I was so interested in him my friend... His powers are quite extraordinary for a mere adept. I have brought him here to be your test subject, as I do know you like... Experimenting with such things..."

 

Dirk walked over to the prsioner, as seeing he wasn't welcome when the lords do the private talks," Well it looks like your screwed when they talk like that someone always ends up dying, and when I say dying I mean prisoners. Lord Seth always take the prisoners alway and doesn't some type of thing with them, and I never see them again. One of these days though that old hag Lord Caedus will die from something, probably old age, and then I'll be a Lord!"

 

"That's ok, you know you listen better than the lords, I'll keep an eye on you, make sure nothing bad happens to you. Maybe I can get the lords to assign you as my aprretnice, but than again the lords wouldn't go for that. yeah no way, your srcewed, that'ss all I have to say, but whatever they do to you I could probably reverse with my magic, I hide my true powers from, because I think the would try to kill me if they truely knew the hilght of my powers."

Caedus grinned as he and Seth talked.

"Yes... He has a strange alter ego that rapidly accelerates his power... On the subject of testing, what should Dirk's punishment be for feeding Jake poison? I was thinking something in the... Pain department."

 

"Well prisoner, I better get going, even a man as great as me needs his sleep. Also heads up there done talking and ones walking away, seems to me as if he's getting something ready for you. I wouldn't make him mad, he's a big man with little patients." Dirk headed off towards the stairs and when he came, to the top Lord Caedus has started towards him. "What do you need my lord Caedus?"

 

Caedus gave a sighing grumble.

"Normally I would forcefully torture one for the incompetance you pulled... But seeing as I am short on time..."

Caedus lifted Dirk's palm and slapped the top of his hand vaguely.

"A slap on the wrist will have to do. Make sure it doesnt happen again. Now get some rest."

Caedus trudged over to the prison cell and unchained Jake.

"Keep your powers under control and I will make sure you live."

He could see the surprise and distrust in Jake's eyes as Caedus took him to Daigun Mansion.

"You really don't think I would go through all the trouble of capturing you alive to let you die ot as soon as you got here, did you?"

Caedus knocked on Seth's door and waited for an answer.

 

Dirk head towards his own mansion, and when he got inside he called for his guards."Follow me were going to sneek inside lord Seth's manor. The two guards followed Dirk out the door. Dirk and his guards soon reached the manor."Alright start scaling the wall to the roof."Dirk was last to climb, because he was the watchout. when they got to the top Dirk cut a small hole, and the three fell through it and Dirk fixed the hole with a little magic around the edge of circle that goes there. Dirk and the other two went down the stairs and found lord Seth, lord Caedus and the prisoner. "Stand still you two." Dirk whsipered to the guards. Dirk put a spell over the three to it hides their presence from the lords. the three watched silently as the three talked.

 

"Why don't you turn around boy? You might just see an old friend, na just kiding you don't have to friends!" The guards started laughing with Dirk."Alright that's enough you two, so you know I can read minds, right? well I can also read them through walls and a certain distance. They seem there going to test the limit of your powers and the big one lord Seth wants to meet your darkside. then I don't know, there going to do some tests on you, I do usually seek in here to watch, this is a first."

 

As Caedus spoke with Seth, he felt Dirk lazily attempting to penetrate their thoughts. It was quite clever of him... Masking the presence so well... But Caedus was far to well attuned to the magical state of the world. Caedus sent a mental bolt into Dirk's own mind, and thereafter slammed the door shut to their minds. He knew any minute now, Dirk would be feeling the effects of getting his mind reading cancelled... It was only temporary though... But whenever Dirk was within range to read Caedus's mind now... He would learn a new definition for the word "Pain."

Caedus returned his attention to Seth.

"I thank you for your gracious offer, my friend. I believe I will stay... I went through all the trouble of getting this little knaive... I intend to see the results of your exploits. Besides, if things get out of control, I know how to lock down his power. There was something else I did not tell you..."

Caedus moved closer to Seth, close enough that even the guards next to them couldnt hear his voice. His tone dropped an octave as he whispered a few words into Seth's ear... A few words that meant the conclusion of over 1000 years of searching...

"He is the one..." Caedus whispered deeply, "The one I have been looking for..."

Caedus backed up for a moment, allowing Seth to take it all in. he knew those words meant more to the two of them than anything in the world.
