Colonel Caboose The Man, the Myth, the Legend

Dirk had gathered the troops and was heading out for Teyos. Once in formation Dirk marched forward and the troops followed. "soon the men started chanting, "WE WIILL, WE WILL ROCK YOU!!!" Dirk admired their Courage, but what else could you expect from a Atrrox? Dirk soon was approching the grand tower that reached the heavens itself. Dirk could see that lord Ceadus had entered, but didn't care, his mission was his only goal now. Even if Atrrox was being conquered, Dirk would stick to the mission. Nothing was to stand in his way, and live to see the next five seconds.

Excitement surged through Vivienne at the first sight of ruins. She could already see the silhouettes of the soldiers marching past the center of the city, carefully avoiding the crumbling buildings and the falling rocks. She was about to run to the soldiers, eager to fight alongside them, when she suddenly shivered. …t-this is…! Vivienne always had an inborn magic sensor, almost like a sixth sense. She usually only felt tingling sensations; never before had she encountered someone powerful enough to actually send chills down her spine. Crap.

She proceeded with wary steps and unsheathed her sword. She couldn't locate the source of the powerful aura, but she knew it was nearby. She had to warn the soldiers or— before she could even finish her thought, a group of soldiers turned into stone. The rest fell in a state of panic as they tried to escape the hidden enemy. In a blink of an eye, all of Monos' troops became stone.

What the hell just happened?! Vivienne cautiously walked toward one of the soldiers and placed a hand on his shoulder. Her fingertips began to glow as she attempted to cure his ailment, but nothing happened.

She growled in frustration. "I know you're there! Show yourself!"

A girl? What would a young girl be doing with a division of the Monos army? Seth quickly looked he over from his hiding spot. A sword, and the glow of her hand shows at least some magical knowledge. Hmmm... I know it's not possible for her to heal them. My magic's far to powerful for her to break and I worded my spells so that only I could. Now my dilemma would be to kill her or question her. Seeing as I'm a more knowledgable person, I suppose I should at least try to question her. Seth jumped out and landed behind her. He was taller then her and with his armor he made an imposing figure. "Tell me, what is a girl like you doing following the Monos army?"

Vivienne stifled a gasp when an armor-clad man suddenly appeared behind her. She felt her body briefly shiver at his presence, ascertaining that he was the one who cast the powerful spells. Her eyes narrowed as she looked up at the enigmatic man and tightened her grip on her sword. She figured her chances of winning weren't as high as she hoped, but she didn't want to give up so easily. To her surprise, the man didn't attack and instead questioned her actions.

She considered her words carefully to avoid angering him, but her temper was getting the better of her. "I wanted to help them fight," she said through gritted teeth. "What does it matter to you?"

"It matters to me greatly, for you see, I petrified these soldiers because they wanted to fight Attrox. You say you wanted to fight with them? That means you wanted to fight Attrox as well." Seth held up his right hand and it began to glow a pale green. "This is the same spell that I used on them. A simple touch, tapping you even, would turn you to stone. You should do your best to avoid my fist." Seth quickly threw a punch aimed for her chest.

Vivienne teemed with anger as the man mentioned Attrox. She raised her sword, about to strike, but the man's fist was quicker. His voice echoed in her mind: "A simple touch, tapping you even, would turn you to stone." She didn't have enough time to dodge, so she lifted her hand and concentrated on generating a powerful enough barrier. A small sigh escaped her lips when she noticed that her shield worked, blocking his hand before it could touch her, but it shattered almost immediately after contact.

She set up another barrier around her and cursed inwardly. She knew she couldn't keep her defenses up forever.

Dirk sooned approched the water. Dirk noticed that Teyos troops had landed some boats on the shoreline. Dirk turned around and told the troops, "Men we those ships, kill everyone, but don't harm the ships or you will be talking with me! so ATTACK!!!" The men started running battle cries high, Teyos soon heard the coming of troops and started running at the Atrrox, they all met in the middle for a great battle.

"Not bad to block my punch. In fact I'm surprised. You created that barrier in such a short time, almost instantly. I may have underestimated you. But then again..." He raised his fist. "How long can you keep that up?" Seth began to punch at her, breaking her barriers in the process.

Each time the man spoke, Vivienne became even more livid. To her, everything about him symbolized Attrox. "I'm not going to let your filthy hands touch me!"

Whenever her barrier was shattered by the man's punches, Vivienne made sure to quickly generate another one in its place. She had to avoid contact at all cost. There was no way she'd allow herself to be defeated when she hasn't even punished one Attrox for what they did to her family, to her country. I have no choice but to escape for now. She grumbled at the thought of fleeing, but she knew it was the only way she could survive.

Please work! Vivienne gathered all her energy into creating a barrier that enclosed the armored man. It should hold the man for at least a few second, longer if she was lucky. She then ran as fast as she could to the end of the city, to the tunnel that led to the ruined Grand Citadel. Maybe there she could find help.

Meanwhile: Mithyl and Jake were still having their peaceful conversation in the Grand Citadel.

    "So Jake, how long have you been..." Mithyl's words were interrupted by a piercing yell;

"I'm not going to let your filthy hands touch me!"

Vivienne's distraught words echoed through the tunnel, which acted as a crude megaphone, and could be heard within the tower itself.

Mithyl and Jake looked at each other and shrugged. Then with a startled jump, simultaneously realize what the words entailed. Mithyl, still not completely sure of Jake's commitment reacted to the girl's voice.

"I've got to do something!" Mithyl took off down the stairs of the Grand Citadel wondering whether or not this was some sort of Attroxian trick. He reached the bottom of the Grand Citadel rather quickly, having been only ten stories up.

Seth broke the barrier and looked to see her run away. "She's no fun. Oh well, at least my mission is complete." Seth slowly walked to where his horse was hidden. He got on top and spurred it to go.As he left he uttered one final spell. The floor beneath the petrified soldiers glowed and suddenly every soldier shattered to peaces.
    -------------------------------------
Jake watched Mithyl run to help. Jake stood up and was about to run when something was tripped inside his mind. "No, not now! I can't fall now!" A few moments passed and Jake soon felt normal again. That's when he heard someone breathing, someone he never noticed was there when talking with Mithyl. "Who's there?"

After only a minute of running, Vivienne had to stop to catch her breath, weakened from overusing her ability. She relaxed when she realized the man didn't bother to follow, but almost immediately tensed right after. What the—? She sensed traces of magic nearby, spread amongst hundreds*. They were marching slowly through the tunnel, moving toward the forgotten city. They were really close; she could hear the distinct clinking of metal and the thumping of feet getting louder. She took a defensive stance, but was unsteady because of fatigue.

She grimaced. It's always one problem after another.

(* Just in case I confused anyone, I'm referring to The Storm's Caedus' undead army! ;D)

Caedus slowly walked out of the shadows, revealing himself to the one known as Jake. He gave the boy a cocky half-smile as he walked through the shadows towards him, the darkness seeming to follow his movements. He came face to face with Jake, less then a foot of space between them.

"I am Grand Priest Caedus, of Attrox, General of the Undead Army and Dissembler of Lives. Who are you?"

Caedus was so close to Jakes face his breath hit him squarely as he spoke.

Jake jumped back and quickly grabbed his sword. "Ugh... your breath stinks, you know that?" Jake unsheathed his sword and got into a battle stance. "I'm Jake, from Monos. What do you want here? What do you want with me?" As he spoke, his mind was racing. Damn, the Grand Priest himself. I doubt I'm gonna get out of this unharmed. Or alive for that matter.
If you let me handle it he wouldn't even touch you.
I'm never going to give you control.

Caedus cocked his brow for a moment.

"I feel... A great deal of conflict in you... Strange..."

Caedus began circling Jake in a stalking fashion.

"I am on a recruiting mission. Monos is a dying country. You wouldnt want to be on the losing side would you? Hmmm... you seem like a capable enough warrior... How would you like to join the ranks with Attrox? I could present you with a visit to Storm Valentine himself."

They're slow. Impatient as always, Vivienne decided she couldn't wait for the army to strike first. She could tell that she was at a huge disadvantage, but she liked her odds with them more than with the armored man. Shaking off her weariness, she readied her sword and began running forward to meet her enemies. At first glimpse of her supposed enemies, however, she froze in shock.

She almost shrieked. "W-what is this?!"

Vivienne took a step back, suddenly recalling all the ghost stories her siblings told her. She looked at the army in front of her and cringed slightly. They're all…dead? B-but they're still moving? She was getting frantic, but before her fear could completely overwhelm her, she snapped. She couldn't possibly be afraid of the dead when she just escaped a man who could have killed her. His petrifying ability was more frightening to deal with.

She took a deep breath and hesitantly lunged at the monster nearest her. Well, that's one down. She groaned, and a few hundred to go?

"I would never join Attrox. They've done too much harm to the world. Lato was only the first in your bloodbath. You won't stop until the entire continent of Vance is yours. Monos is a strong and noble country. I'm proud to claim it as my home. Now... leave or perish." Jake readied his blade in front of him. As he did he glanced around the room before setting his sights back on the grand priest. Good, plenty of rubble to levitate. If I can keep him locked on me then taking him out from behind shouldn't be too hard.
    You're gonna fail.
    Will you shut up?

Caedus's smile was quickly replaced by a look of pure disgust. It then strangely transfigured into a sort of humorous look, as did his tone of voice. However, his left hand tightened its grip around his own blade, Orpheus, as he locked eyes with Jake.

"You really think this wise boy? I am the Grand Priest of Attrox, along with being one of Lord Valentine's most trusted advisors! And you think yourself, a mere peasant, a rat, no, a pimple on the ass of a rat at the bottom of the food chain of life is going to beat me? Hah. You stand no chance."

He raised his right hand, and a bolt of blue lightning forked its way towards Jake at the speed of light.

Before Caedus had even fired Jake had moved in case he shot a spell. Damn being right. Jake quickly ran straight to Caedus and began to strike at his body with his sword. As he did he levitated aome rubble silently to hit him in the back.
