Kingdom Hearts: The Resistance

"Leaving so soon?" a voice asked from the back of the cave. Nozomi looked down and could see a strange dark energy that she had never seen before creeping across the ground, it moved like water but looked more like gas.

Shayde crept from the shadows almost as if he had once been a part of it and had pulled himself from it. His walk was more like an odd glide, like his feet werent touching the ground. This may have been one of the most unrealistic looking people she had ever seen and his voice didn't help with that fact as it seemed to echo in her mind as he spoke. She shook her head "Who are you?" she asked him, stepping in front of Kawi with her sword drawn. It may have been weird for Kawi to be the one being protected by the girl but she didn't care. She was put in charge of protecting him this was her job.

The bizarre man only smiled, he removed his hood to reveal his extremely pale skin, dark black hair, and childlike smile. His eyes were covered with a black blindfold. "I'm the one sent to extend an invitation to your friend there," he gestured at Kawi "and you of course. The darkness misses you both Nozomi, Kawi."

The shadows surrounded the trio without attacking but outside they were causing damage to the world, restoring the darkness and decay that Kawi had just fixed.

 

Crystle had also been considering battle options in her head as he stood there studying her. She prepared herself quickly, watching his movement carefully as he attempted to trip and slash her at the same time. The fact that he was lower on the ground and trying to make both attacks at once separated his attention just slightly enough for Crystle to know how to put him at a disadvantage. She raised her blade infront of her chest to stop him from causing injury with his sword and at the same time pushed both blades down in the same fluid motion, pushing both her sword and his down angled at the ground in the way of his kick from her legs. Unless he stopped both attacks, he would end up injuring himself.

The stranger chuckled darkly and stepped closer "What friends, experament?" he said softly, he didn't seem to mean the name he called Kawi as an offence it was more like a title. "Do you know that the girl lies about her identity? You dont even know either of these people. Like me and any other dark being, you are alone." he sighed "Now I would prefer not to do this the hard way. I will give you once chance to surrender peacefully."

 

The bizarre stranger sighed "Very well then." he said with a grim smile. The shadow on the ground around his feet suddenly rose up encasing around him. When it faided away again the stranger was gone.

Nozomi looked around "He's not gone..." she said cautiously, noticing the black smoke still across the ground. Just then, the black smoke rose up around the three friends, much like it had done around the stranger but it acted a little differently, forming dome shaped cages around all three of the friends. The stranger reappeared near the mouth of the cave.

 

Crystle half smiled and then pulled up her sword. She walked aroud him a short ways, in a circular path, watching him and thinking of how best to attack while also being ready to block herself if he attacked her by suprise. Her movement was quick and sudden, she had given no sign of what she was planning before she made her move moving very gracefully and precice. She reached down to her boot in one quick fluid motion and pulled out a throwing knife that she had conceled there. She tossed it at Kage and it flew silently and dead on toward Kage but that wasn't her only move. As the knife flew at her enemy, Crystle finished her half circle around Kage and attacked him from behind, having gotten there before the knife got halfway there. She slashed at his back with the sword at the same time that the Knife got deadly close to Kage's heart. Crystle knew this was a bit risky for both her and her apponent because if he moved out of the way quickly enough then the knife would be coming straight at her but she wasn't worried about that. She would easily have enough time to dodge or block it by the time he was out of the way IF he was even fast enough to get there.

Nozomi took out her sword and tried to break the cage that confined her so she could help Kawi but nothing happened. The cage sent a shockwave through the metal of her sword through her arm. It didn't damage her but it really stung. She decided not to try that again. "Let us go." she said to the weird stranger.

Shayde only shook his head "I'm sorry but I cannot do that." he looked at Kawi "But I do want to give you a chance to escape It wouldn't be fair of me not to but three against one is hardly a fair fight either." he raised his hand and Kawi was freed "Are you prepared to defend yourself and your friends, expirament?"

 

"Then what shall I call you?" the stranger said casually. "I am not your friend so it is highly illogical for me to call you by your childhood name. I suppose your scientific name would suffice. They called you Sora(VI)Echo in the Lab but judging by the looks on your face that name proves just as destainful to you. I suppose Kawi it is if your title dispeases you so much." a sword appeared in his hand. It was a long sword, almost twice his height but it was thin about the width of a hand. "Unfortunately I can do nothing about your second request. The girl's arrest has been ordered with just as much urgency as yours."

Nozomi looked a bit alarmed when she heard that. "By who?" she said, hoping it wasn't who she feared.

Shayde looked at her like the answer was obvious. A bizarre smile appeared in his expression "Well by your father of course, Nozomi. He has been missing your help in the lab. Especially after the failure of your mother. Now please dont be rude and dont interrupt again."

"The failure of my mom!? What do you mean by that!" Nozomi said, worried. What did he mean by that? But Shayde didn't answer her question. Infact he didn't seem to even hear her, he just looked back at Kawi.

"So again I ask, are you ready Kawi?" he said with a grim smile.

Nozomi sighed, knowing he wasn't going to answer her. She wondered about her mother. What did he mean by her failure? Had he tried to make her take Nozomi's place in that terrible lab? What had she failed at? She hoped Kawi wasn't mad about hearing the 'help in the lab' part. It sounded terrible when he put it that way. But Nozomi had had no choice before. She watched Kawi, wondering what he would do next.

Crystle dodged the kick narrowly but he was faster than she had anticipated. She overshot the jump and landed a bit unsteadily "I guess you're right. You caught me. But Theres no way I'm going back with you." she said darkly. "Unless I'm dead and at that point Tom would have found someone else to help him."
She was a bit startled when she said his name. He only told her his name once before and it was one of those details she had lost before. This was the first moment she considered the heart a 'he' and not an 'it' that had come from an individual.

Kage just laughed "You dont have to be dead to be unconsious." he suggested. He watched her movements again, noticing when she was unsteady when she jumped and landed in her dodge. He had underestemated him just then and when she landed wrong it brought his attention to a possible injury on her left leg. Possibly from the Heartless attack. Now confident in his descovery, he swept his sword high toward her neck but he stopped just before he could have injured her. While she was distracted by the sword he kicked low at her left knee where he noticed the injury.

Crystle tried to jump back to avoid the sword and didn't notice on time when he kicked. A splitting pain hit her knee and seemed to spark all through her leg. Paralyzing it for only a moment. Crystle felt that leg buckle and that caused her to fall to her knees. 'Dang I should have seen that comming. ' she thought to herself irritably. But she used the moment to her advantage. Kage tried to finish her there, bringing the handle of his sword down at her head to knock her out. Crystle reached out and grabbed his ankle, she pulled it up and twisted at the same time hard and fast. She caused him to fall too and then she rolled away before standing again. Her knee throbbed and she knew it was injured at least a little but not enough to slow her down much. She picked her sword back up and looked at Kage. He was already on his feet before she had her sword out.

"Alright then." he said as he picked up his sword. Crystle stood her ground as he walked closer to her. "If you want to play like that fine." he said with a malicious smile. "I'll assure you'll still be breathing when I'm done with you." he was not too close to the cornerstone anymore to use the majority of his power. A deep red glow formed in his eyes and down his blade. He ran at Crystle and slashed his sword at her.

Crystle raised up her sword to block his attack but it was a lot stronger now than before. She underestemated him. Her sword was knocked from her hands. Kage hit her with the back of his hand and she backed off to avoid getting hit. She dodged the attack but she stepped into the wall behind her. She was cornered and weaponless now 'great' she thought sarcasticly. 'what now?'

 

"Kawi!" Nozomi called after him but he didn't turn back. She knew he must have done as she had feared. He took what Shayde said the same as anyone would have. She attempted to run after Kawi and Shiro. Heartless sprang from the ground just at the cave's entrance and started shoting dark energy after the two boys. Nozomi pulled out her sword and killed them so that they couldn't harm the two boys. But the moment she paused to do so, even though it saved Kawi and Shiro, was not good for Nozomi. It took her just long enough to kill the heartless that Shayde had time to block the entrance to the cave with a dark barrier. Nozomi hit against it with her fists but it was no use.

"It appears your friends are just as I feared, Project-K." Shayde said.

"You lied to him! I didn't willingly help anyone in that lab." she yelled at him angrily. "And dont call me that!"

Shayde ignored her protest "Are you ready to return home, Nozomi?"

Nozomi looked at the man who just seemed to appear out of nowhere and wondered who he was and why he was helping her. He looked a little familiar... it couldn't be the man who helped them at the castle though could it? She thought he had died.

Shayde only sighed "Must you always step into affairs that aren't your own, ex-keyblade weilder."

 

Crystle grabbed a cracked part of the wall behind her and used it to pull herself up off the ground just enough for her to gain control of the situation again. She kicked her feet up and knocked Kage's sword out of his hand before she pushed him away and picked up her sword. "It was nice meeting you, Kage. But you'll just have to tell Masen you failed this time." she shot him a mocking salute and then ran off toward the wall of the castle and out the gate. She realized he might end up following her after he knew about Tom's heart so she did something to prevent him from doing so: A light barrier at the castle's gate. It wouldn't stay for long but in enough time for her to get out was long enough.

She saw Zack running along the wall's side as she ran and she stopped him by calling his name "I wouldn't go in there if I were you." she warned him. "The castle is full of crazy people." she said it a bit sarcasticly seeing as they weren't insane just annoying.

Nozomi blinked. 'Ex-keyblade weilder?' she thought to herself. 'So he is the boy who helped us... well sort of anyway.' She wondered if she should do something to help him but she wondered if what he could do on his own for now, so she just stayed silent.

Shayde turned around to face his new enemy "I would rather not kill what and who I dont have to." he warned "So turn away and mind your own now empty exsistance. Tom is dead now. You have no obligation to help these children."
