Kingdom Hearts: The Resistance

Tom raised his keyblade to block the attack. The force of the swing pushed him back several feet. He tossed his keyblade into the air and tapped his left shoulder. His armor encased him in a flash of light. Tom then caught his keyblade, getting ready to resume the battle.

Masen chuckled slightly. "I see. So you truly are a Keyblade Master. All the better incentive for me to destroy you." Masen swung his sword, sending out a blade of energy straight towards Tom. "Submit!"

Tom jumped up, narrowly dodging the attack. He spun in the air, hitting Masen a few times. With a single swing, Masen again pushed Tom back. "Gonna need to get a longer reach. His sword is too big. It'll keep this distance between us. I'll never get in close enough to do any serious damage." Tom threw his keyblade. It hit Masen. The keyblade appeared in Tom's hand as he threw it again. Tom threw it one more time, but Masen caught it. Tom ran forward. He dodged Masen's horizontal swing and summoned his keyblade to him. Tom swung at Masen. But Masen was too quick, easily blocking the attack. Using Masen's sword as leverage, Tom pushed himself back, out of Masen's reach.

"Surely you can do better than that Keyblade Master."

"I'm just getting started." A white aura gathered around Tom. "Get over here and lemme hit you a few more times."

 

The pumpkin on Kilet's staff opened its mouth and spewed flame all over the shadows that tackled Nozomi, incinerating the beings of darkness. Luckily, he didn't burn her at all when he did this. The Carver pulled the girl up while he concentrated on burning any more of the shadows that came near.

"Hurry! Hurry! More and more come!" He barked, whapping a Neoshadow on the head as it attempted to get the jump on him. "If you lag behind, they may not need any volunteers for the dead!"

His face showed a look of urgency rather than madness as he said it.

 

Zack swung his sword killing the heartless that had tackled Nozomi. He then began to violently swing his sword around him in a fray killing what heartless were stupid enough to walk into its range. Zack lost the grip on his sword and it flew a few feet away from him sticking upright in the earth, on his knees Zack's hands went for his head. He franticly grabbed at the headset that was still attached to his ear. Once he had gotten it he threw it. It crashed in front of a heartless and broke. Zack's breathing was heavy. He shook his head trying to forget the memory that had been brought on by Crystal screaming. The heartless saw Zack's moment of weakness and attacked. It jumped at his back ready to tare him to shreds. Zack rolled out the way just in time for the heartless to miss him. Unfortunately his the heartless was now in between him and his sword. The heartless ran at Zack claws raised and ready to attack, Zack grabbed a potion from his belt and readied himself. When the heartless sliced at Zack he simply they the potion to meet the attack. The heartless his it braking it and there was a sudden flash of light. The heartless which was taken by surprise guarded his face from the light and Zack took this opportunity to get his sword back and kill the damned thing once and for all.

The familiar noise of Crystal's gummi ship could be heard overhead. "Right on time" Zack said mostly to himself since he doubted anyone else could hear him. Looking around Zack saw that there was no clear place to land the ship, and suitable areas had hordes of heartless in them. "Nozomi!" Zack shouted. "We need to clear a place for Crystal to land safety in." He then ran towards the what looked like the bigger area, which meant there was alot more heartless. I haven't done this in awhile Zack thought to himself as he summoned his second sword and jumped into the middle of a bunch of heartless. Zack had modified his weapons to dissapear when he didn't need them and appear at his will. He was pretty proud of himself until he learned that the keyblade wielders could do it naturally. Zack began fighting the beast's who had been slightly confused at him jumping in between them. With each fluid movement Zack would kill another heartless and more would just appear to take its place. Damn it, maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all Zack thought as he continued fighting.

 

Kawi joined by Zack's side, keyblade in hand. Suddenly it sparked in dark energy and the heartless around him turned into black orbs of energy. Kawi's eyes turned black and his keyblade reacted on it's own accord and like a vacuum, the dark orbs were sucked into his blade. Kawi started to shout in anguish as the dark energy was piercing through him. Something felt wrong inside of him. Something was mixing inside of him. It was the light and the dark. His left eye was blue and his right eye was red. His heart suddenly felt it was being throbbed like a punch bag. Kawi, clenching his heart and on the ground, looked up and saw the dark orbs being absorbed into his weapon and ultimately his body. What was wrong with him? Was it a power or a curse? Kawi was staggering on the ground, panting for breath as the last dark orb and ultimately the last heartless in the area being absorbed inside of him.
"You can only use this ability in very few occasions or it will kill you. I have shown you your true power. Use it wisely and learn from your enemies" a voice inside of his head told him.
Kawi staggered upwards, sweat running down his back. He felt like he was going to fall back at any moment and fall into a deep sleep.

 

"Ars Arcanum." Tom muttered. His keyblade glowed golden. He rapidly attacked Masen. Masen held up his sword to block. Masen blocked a few of the attacks, but Tom hit too hard and too fast for Masen to hold up his guard. Tom hit Masen seven or eight times before the attack ended. More light gathered around Tom. HIs entire keyblade was encased in light, increasing its length to the same length as Masen's sword. Tom continued on the offensive, not risking the chance of Masen attacking.

Masen felt his body weakening. The strength of the keyblade was too much. Masen decided to end the battle now. He caught one of Tom's attacks and started pummeling him. Masen didn't hold any of his strength back. He felt Tom's bones begin to break from each hit. He then threw Tom into the wall.

Tom looked up, blood trickling down his face. He saw Masen slowly move towards him. Tom chuckled to himself. "What is so funny, Keyblade Master?"

"I see just how much I overestimated you." Tom smiled. He struggled to stand up, using his keyblade as a cane. Once he did, he resumed his battle stance.

"Why continue? You shall die here and now. Just give up." Masen said, still walking towards him. Masen took off his hood. The darkness Masen used to disguise himself faded away, revealing his true face.

Tom looked in shock. "That's who you are. Then I can't end here. Next time, Masen, I will be the one who stands triumphant."

"There shall not be a next time." Masen lifted up his sword, about to end Tom's life.

"I have one last trick up my sleeve." Tom said. He held his keyblade out, looking like he would strike Masen. But instead, he flipped the keyblade around, holding the tip of the keyblade towards him. Tom then stabbed himself with his keyblade. His body began to glow with more light.

Masen slightly smirked. "Oh yes. A keyblade master's ability to separate one's heart from their body. Well played. But can you survive long enough to ensure your safety?" Masen swung his sword at Tom.

The light created a barrier, holding back Masen's attack. "Even with my defeat, there are two keyblade wielders left in the world. The keyblades are returning. You cannot stop the inevitable." Tom's heart floated out of his body. Tom flung his hand towards his side. The heart followed suit, going in the direction his hand motioned. Tom's body slowly faded. "The light shall never lose." HIs body vanished from the spot it was at.

Masen looked at the spot in disgust. The darkness formed around his head again, changing its appearance. He put his hood over his head.

 

Leonardo, holding his left hand painfully, limply dodged left and then stepped back a few inches from the slashing claws of two Neo Shadows. He ignored the burning pain from his injuries and valiantly swung his keyblade up over his shoulder and assumed a very low stance and said defiantly to the two heartless, "Show me what you guys can do!"

The Neo Shadows, almost obeying his command surged towards him, claws flinging and mouths gapped wide open, pining, almost begging for him to submit himself and his heart. He pulled down the keyblade on his shoulder vertically to block the horizontal attack from the first Neo Shadow and pushed it backwards with a considerable amount of force. The next Neo Shadow was more agile and narrowly dodged the incoming diagonal slash from Leonardo's still up and kicking body and countered with a swift and precise claw slash that came up and caught him in his left shoulder.

Leonardo grunted in pain from the attack and found himself on the ground again, pushing with all of his strength to avoid being torn apart by the rabid Neo Shadow. He looked under the Heartless's torso to see the other Neo Shadow rise up into the air slightly and diving into the ground, causing a pool of darkness from where its prior location was.

Leonardo was desperately trying to think of a way to deal with the new situation. His thoughts lingered back to his days during survival tactics training. He slumped in the muddy trench, cursing as his instructor would yell at him while trying to get a well-aimed shot at him. "Within the field of battle, you must either adapt to the situation as it presents itself to you, or simply DIE!!!"

He jumped back to reality and rolled over, pushing with both hands on his keyblade's blade, going on top of the Neo Shadow and pressing his knees on its humanoid biceps. He shouted out a contemptuous battle cry and brought both hands to the hilt of his keyblade and slammed down onto the screaming head of the Neo Shadow. The Heartless under him lay there lifeless, limp and disappeared, heart afloat and drifting away.

He then rolled to the side to avoid the attempted drop-kick from the Neo Shadow that had finally risen from its pool of darkness and pressed his body onto the ground, raising a glowing keyblade and called out weakly, "Bli . . . blizzard . . ."

The tip of the keyblade shined with a small sapphire crystal light and shot out at the lunging Neo Shadow. The magic found its mark and froze the Heartless where it leaped. Through a sudden rush of physical energy, Leonardo got up and slashed out horizontally with his weapon, smashing the Heartless to bits.

 

Leonardo slumped forward, body still losing blood and fatigue controlling his sluggish movements. He had ran out of the energy to cast a cure spell upon himself and failed to foresee the events of the mission by not supplying himself with a potion of at the very least, a small shot of an ether. He saw in the distance the gummi ship with Crystle and Nozomi in it. He began to quickly limp and drag his keyblade, making a last ditch effort to get there. After what had seemed an eternity to him, he tripped over the ramp and began to pull himself with his right arm to the inside of the ship, not even daring to loosen his grip on his keyblade. When he finally got into it, he had gotten a small trail of blood smeared on the ramp and onto the floor of the ship. He dispelled his keyblade and lay on his back. "Not the best way to present myself to Nozomi but I guess it's a start" he sarcastically jested to himself. He turned his pounding head to Crystle and spoke low and weak, "Sorry for the mess . . . I-I'll make it up to you, heh."

 

Kawi had tears in his eyes. He was confused and now he thought he was a monster; a monster created by Masen. Kawi was looking down at the ground and his eyes turned purple.
'I don't know just what happened.' Kawi looked up and saw a mirror infront of him to see his watery purple eyes back at him. "It was Masen...he did this to me..." Kawi murmured.
He clenched his fist but his face was expressionless. He shook his head and looked towards the others, remembering that they just helped him escape Masen's clutches.
"Thanks for helping me escape. My name is Sora..."
Suddenly a flash came to his mind of Sora introducing himself but as he went back to the room, he just realized he just said Sora's name instead of his.
'My name is Kawi. My parents were light and Masen's forces killed them for no reason. I was taken and I was trapped for a year in a capsule. I don't know what Masen's done to me"
He looked down, wiping away a tear.

 

Leonardo weakly grinned at the words of Crystle who sounded indifferent to his plight. It was better than being cradled like a baby he thought to himself as he found the very small remainder of his strength and heaved himself onto a nearby seat of the Gummi Ship and painfully strapped himself in, wincing from the burning and stinging wounds he had acquired from day's mission. "I wonder what leader is gonna say to me when we get back. Probably another ear full on why I shouldn't be so hasty in my decision making. I'll just get Hooper back when he least expects it, it is what it is a guess."

Leonardo looked up at Kawi with his right eye that wasn't completely blided by his own blood and gave him a thumbs-up. "You'll be all right, we got some real good people back at base." He looked away and scoffed at his own speech seeing that he was in no particularly good shape himself as his whole throbbed from his multiple lacerations.

 

"Get up. You've had enough time sleeping. Get up now." A familiar voice echoed through a newly created Nobody. The blue–haired figure opened his eyes, standing up. He was floating in darkness. "Huh?" He asked out loud. "Oh yeah... Now I remember what happened." Flashbacks flowed through his mind of Tom's and Masen's fight. He looked at his body, garbed in different clothes than what Tom was wearing. He opened up his shirt to look at his chest. There was a wound from where Tom stabbed his keyblade. "Ooops. I guess I–" Motx stopped himself. "I guess he didn't do the ability perfectly. There wouldn't be this injury here if he released his heart properly."

Tom's heart floated through the emptyness inbetween the worlds. It had no destination. It just floated along, not even aware of its own exsistance. But its light was strong enough to keep it safe from the darkness that continually tried to eat away at it.

 

The team had been travailing home for quite some time. What little medical care was available was given to those who needed it the most. Zack was extremely ticked off at the fact that people disobeyed his orders. There would be serious consequences for it, but later. Every one had a rough time today and he was bruised and sore. And there was also the matter of the guy they had somewhat rescued. Zack wasn't sure what to think of him, at first he thought he was just another keyblade user but that thing that he did.... absorbing the heartless, he had never seen or heard anything like it. And come to think of it who was that strange guy who helped them in the castle?. Deciding it would be better to leave it until they had rested up and the team had a chance to talk about it he left it be for now. "Were almost home guys, you can all rest up soon" Zack heard Crystal say over the intercom. Zack had told her to make a small de tore before to lose any unwanted followers. And fortunately the gummi ship was still in enough working condition to take them home.

"Prepare for landing" Crystal said again. There was a small bump as the ship landed. "Everyone get yourselves fixed up and get some rest. Were having a meeting later on tonight, Nozomi I'm placing you in charge of the boy" Zack said as he prepared to leave the ship. Crystal had already gotten out and was assessing the damage done to her ship. "If you want a hand repairing it I'm always willing to help" Zack said to her. She smiled at him. Zack patted her on the shoulder as he walked away to go to his chambers to clean himself off.

 

As the ship landed, Kawi's vision blurred and his mind started to feel crushed. He tried to get upto his feet though, hoping he'd be able to walk but he fell down, holding his head and scrunching his eyes. He was squirming but he didn't want to show that he was in pain. He didn't want his friends to suspect him again. He did not know of the Cornerstone of Light but as a few minutes passed by, his mind returned to normal and his vision became clear. He was starting to worry. What did Masen do to him? Was he killing what he once was...the light? The light was starting to enfuse with him though, as he climbed back upto his feet and his left eye turned blue, while his right eye was purple. He looked back at Nozomi with a worried look on his face.
"Thanks for being kind to me but I want to know...do you really trust me? I'm turning into a monster. A monster of light and darkness."

 

Leo overheard the words of Kawi as a few medics began to unstrap him from the bloody seat and he began to speak in a low and weary voice, "Look man . . . we're all monsters with something inside us . . . trust me. What we need to understand is we're in control of our lives not the other way. We'll train you . . . I promise," he gave him another optimistic thumbs up and looked at Zack, who had a mean scowl on his face. He snickered and raised a playful thumb to his eyelid and pulled it down sticking out his tongue. "I'll do some extra coordinating since you know I hate it to cheer you up cheif, heh."

His head hit the pillow of the stretcher as he looked up to the grey sky. It rumbled and began to rain. He smiled again and whispered to the heavens, "I'm all right. I'm a lion after all..." his head turned to the side and he closed his eyes and went to sleep.

 

"The boy thinks he's a mooonster!" Kilet giggled in a sing-song tone. "He's never seen a REAL monster! Oh, wait - the one who made him was! You're no monster! You're a child!"

The Carver, against the laws of physics, was walking around on the ceiling of the ship, cackling as he went.

"Stop crying, little boy! Only stuuuupid people would hate you just for being different!"

Of course, Kilet had almost no room to talk, being a very bizarre person himself. And it is with the last statement that he left the room, walking down the wall and through the doorway of Chibi.

Kawi was glad to have found friends. He appreciated the positive advice and ever since that horrible day, he was alone and he had to suffer horrible treatment from Masen, the commander and especially Randall, the professor who tested on him. He shook his head and suddenly remembered the CD-ROM given to him by the computer back at Hollow Bastion. He reached into his pocket and shown it to Nozomi.
"This was given to me by a computer back at Hollow Bastion, as I escaped. A being called Tron gave it to me. I recolected it from my memories but it's strange....it feels like someone else's memories. It's Sora's memories." His voice slurred, as he felt uncomfortable but then shook his thoughts away and told Nozomi what Tron said.
"He asked me if I was a friend of Sora and I think he realized that I knew him. He passed me the CD through a computer drive and he wanted me to give the light this. He said he was sorry. He then pixelated away and the computers burst into flame."
The CD reflected light off it's shiny surface.
"Do you trust this...person...this Tron?"

 

Motx floated around in the darkness for a while, regaining the strength Tom spent during the battle against Masen. The wound on his chest was healing at an okay rate. "What to do what to do?" Motx muttered to himself. "First time in your life you're free to do whatever you want. And yet, you don't want anything specific. Oh, the irony." Motx stayed silent for a while. "How do I get out of here. How do I open up those corridors of darkness?"

Tom's heart floated, heading in the direction of Disney Castle. It felt the light in that direction. It sensed hearts full of light. Surely one of them would be willing to allow it to stay in their body until Tom's body was ready to recieve his heart again.
