Kingdom Hearts: The Resistance

"Nothing." Motx answered. "Just a shell of the darkness. Wandering without a purpose. That second heart of yours is something to be more interested in than myself. Although I'm also the one that saved you from Shayde. He had just about extracted that second heart of yours." Motx stood up. "Take good care of it. It has been through alot. And if you ever find Castle Oblivion, let the heart know."

 

Leonardo pushed himself up on burning biceps, triceps, shoulder muscles, and even abdominal muscles as he strained hard against the weights that he had strapped around his midsection, neck and shoulders. He wasn't wearing a shirt so his cars from previous battles were clearly visible. He kept his head up and continued to stare at the stone wall that he had placed himself in front of as he trained rigorously. He didn't do so much for the thrill of it because frankly, he wasn't in the mood, when Leonardo had gotten upset with something, he would exercise to take his mind off of whatever had upset him and it kept him from exploding...most of the time.

"Seventy, seventy-one...seventy-two, seventy-three, seventy...four..." Sweat began to bead down his face and he opened his mouth to breathe in the cold air that soothed his flaming lungs. He gritted his teeth as his body began to fatigue and he kept going at a slow and steady pace in order to get the full effect of his hellish workout, "Eighty...eighty-one...argh...two...three...four...ngh...five..." He was beginning to feel his body shake and he closed his eyes as his body began to react in it lactate stage within his muscles and he cursed under his breathe but couldn't speak because he was so tired, "Come on damn it! Ninety-seven, ninety-eight...damn it! Ninety-nine...One hundred!""

The heaviness of the weights became to much for Leonardo as he collapsed on the dirt floor and panted loudly. A wandering soldier passed by and spoke to him, "Um...Leonardo?"

Leonardo rolled his eyes in annoyance at how the soldier was speaking to him in such a compromising position, "Yeah?"
"The others you have been working with? Nozomi, Crystle and the others...?"
"Yeah? What about them?"
"They've been back for quite some time now...just telling you since you seem to be around them so much."

Leonardo breathed out loudly and tried to move but couldn't, his body just wouldn't let him. He had gotten so worked up that he didn't even notice that his friends had returned. As he heard the soldier begin to walk away back to his duties, Leonardo called out to him, "Hey!"

He heard the soldier turn on the loud gravel and reply, "Yes?"
Leonardo gestured with his head, "Help me take off these weights...and give me some ice...I want to be able to walk..."
"Of course."
Half sulking, Leonardo replied back, "Yeah...thanks..."

 

Zack hadn't been this confused in a long time. "Two hearts?" He asked Crystle.

Zack felt a little annoyance at how out of the loop he was. There were his questions about Kawi, Nozomi seemed pretty close to him and due to his suspicions Zack wasn't to happy about that. And other than a large amount of resistance work that would need to be done there were quite a few new faces that he needed to find out who they were.

"Well, I knew you were a loving person and all but two hearts? What am I missing?. Would anyone like to fill me in on what's happening."

 

Leonardo sluggishly walked up to the hallway that had contained the rooms of many Resistance members. It was a rather narrow hall with a plain look and feel to it. As he gently limped, being careful not to overly use a single muscle least he feel a terrible jolt of stiffness and soreness and placed his hand on the cold, dry wall and stepped closer to his room. In his left hand was a large bag of ice contained in an airtight bag that kept out all foreign materials from it. He had placed it on his neck (which had the highest concentration of soreness) and groaned lightly as the icy aura chilled his body in an effort to help him relax. He had been dragging himself for what seemed to be eight minutes (which would've taken the average person at least twenty seconds) when he reached an opened door that contained the following: Kawi and Nozomi. From what he could guess is that they were conversing with each other in a friendly matter. So why exactly did he feel a lite sense of jealousy towards Kawi? He pushed the thought from his mind and leaned on the edge of the door and lightly rapped on the side of the wall and weakly made himself noticed.

"Hey Nozomi..." he looked over at Kawi and instead of voicing out a verbal hello, nodded in his direction with a smile (although he really hated to) gesturing his silent greeting to the relatively new and mysterious addition to the already large group of freedom fighters.

He turned his eyes back to Nozomi and spoke again. This time his voice had gone from weak to a slightly a fatigued tone and he slowly rolled out, "So...how was the mission? What happened? Did you guys find anything?"

 

As Kage exited the corridor he immeadietely knew where he was. "Proof Of Existence. The old Organizations graveyard, as it were." He looked around seeing that each door was either cracked or completely destroyed. In fact most of the symbols on the floor signifying who they were were also destroyed. Then he happened to notice one was still intact. It was turned off, but intact. Kage walked over to it and saw the symbol was that of a large spiked claymore. The Neoshadow from before appeared at his side. It began pointing at the door with earnest. "In here?" It nodded in response. Hmm, then how do I get there? Perhaps I could infuse the door with a bit of power to open it up? Having no other plan he did just that. His hand became covered in a black smoke as he raised it to the door. With a small spark the door opened, glowing a very dark purple. Kage smirked and walked through. He was going to deal with the Unverse himself.

 

Kawi looked at Nozomi with tired eyes and he was about to speak to her but Leonardo interrupted.
"I'm ok."
He looked into the window and looked at the thorns growing on the walls. Disney Castle was devestated. Suddenly an idea sparked through his head like an engine thrusting to life. He stood up and smiled.
"Let's find the keyhole of Disney Castle! I'm sure I can restore it to what it once was-"
Kawi summoned his keyblade.
"-with this"
A broom bristled inside and jumped, trying to get attention. Kawi looked at it.
"Do you know where it is?"
The broom danced with it's bristles cleaning the dusty floor.
"I take that as a yes"
It suddenly dashed off and Kawi followed.

 

Leonardo's cheeks began to burn hot as he felt the soft touch of Nozomi gently guiding him, following Kawi. He could feel the spell slowly working its way through his body as he followed the steps of Nozomi (as the spell allowed him to move comfortably). As they continued onward, Leonardo looked down and spoke low, "Nozomi...about the last mission..." what he wanted to say was that he had thought of after he was almost certain of his own demise at the hands of the large Heartless. But instead he pushed away the thought and continued on in a slightly unsure manner, "I'm sorry that I got everyone in danger...I almost got everyone killed..." he looked down in shame and could feel tears slowly beginning to well its way into the corners of his eyes but he bit his lip and held back a choked voice, "I'm so stupid..."

 

Leonardo gasped slightly and he crouched down to help her up. He was glad that the spell she used on him was working because doing such a quick movement would've made him yelp out like a whipped dog from the intense soreness. He slipped on a thin sheet of slippery gravel and he hand had slipped considerably low to her thigh and he torn his hand away. "I-I'm sorry, forgive me." He closed his eyes and helped her up again, taking exceptional care to watch his footing least he wanted another compromising moment.

 

The broom stopped at a mural of King Mickey, who has disappeared since the Forgotten attacked. It stabbed it's blunt end at the painting and it rolled off it's hinges. The wall behind it suddenly brightened and revealed a yellow door with a brown handle. Kawi clutched the dry wooden handle and opened it to reveal the coliseum like room.
He looked back at Nozomi and Leonardo, who fell on a broken scrap of gravel.
"Come on guys! Hurry Up!" he told them being a usual 13 year old boy, being impatient.

 

Zack was still trying to process everything Crystle had just said when she asked the question. So he was a little surprised when she asked him. "Were have I been?" He repeated rubbing the back of his head. "Were was I.... Oh, I was rescuing you." He said finally able to pull out an answer. "Well, I was supposed to be rescuing you, I had an amazing plan set out!" Zack began. "I got myself captured and was put in prison and just as I was about to break out there was an earthquake which knocked me out, and when I woke up there was no one around. So I began looking for a way out and found your baby. The workers did a good job on her, I managed to save her from getting a paint job though." He finally said with a smile.

 

As Kage appeared on the other side of the door, he looked around. in front of him was a small walkway leading to a large open area with windows for walls. He walked out wondering where was the unverse he was told of when he noticed someone else in the room. He was staring out a window and was wearing a black and red suit that looked like it was made of muscle. As Kage drew closer the man put on a helmet and turned to face him. "On of Masen's?"
"Vanitas I presume. Before I kill you and take your power to Lord Masen, I would like to know something."
"Shoot, I've got nothing to hide."
"How are you once more yourself? Last time you were around, you were put back in Ventus' heart. How did you get here?"
Vanitas turned back to the window. "Don't know for sure. I was in that wimp's heart when suddenly there was this large burst of energy and I just walked out. And what's more, I retained all the power I had before. The Unverse are back and obeying me while I have this." Vanitas held out his hand in a large flash of light a Keyblade appeared.

"This is the ultimate keyblade, the X-Blade. Whoever controls this controls Kingdom Hearts itself. You want my power for Masen, you think I'm going to let something like this go?" Vanitas snapped his fingers and multiple Unverse appeared. Kage smirked and snapped his fingers, summoning out an equal number of Heartless.
"We can let the pawns fight it out, with their endless numbers. Or we can skip the prelude and move straight to the main event. Which would you prefer?" Kage asked calmly. Vanitas laughed and snapped his fingers again, this time causing the Unverse to vanish. Kage dissmissed the Heartless with a wave of his hand and drew out his sword. "To be honest, I've always wondered how powerful that X-Blade really was. Now I'll get to see firsthand."
"Well then," Vanitas said, "come and get me!" The two charged at each other.

 

Leonardo quickly followed suit but the moment he got his head out of the door he could see the darkness creeping about the room. He sharp scowl was strewn across his face as his fist got tighter and as his teether gritted in anger. How could this have happened? Is it because of Masen? He could feel the anger within him rising even higher now as his thoughts became flooded by images of invading Heartless, bleeding people, and a grinning Masen. That bastard, he thought. I'll kill him! I swear I'll kill him! When he realized that his breathe was getting heavier as he could feel a terrible burning sensation in his chest. "Argh!" he grunted. The pain was getting stronger and stronger, he couldn't take it. He fell to his knees as he could feel his chest pushing in on itself. "What?! What's going on?!" He stared at the white ground as the light cast a shadow from his body. He stared in horror as the shadow began to reach out on its own, as if it was pulling away from him. The pain rippled through his body as he gagged on the air. He looked behind him to see Kawi then to Nozomi and his mind began to race. What the hell is going on?! Why is this...!!

The shadow had completely separated itself from his body and darkness of the room began to push back to surge into the thin silhouette of the shadow to give it depth. The pain continued to worsen as Leonardo lifted up his head to cry out but no sound came. When he looked back up he could see the shadow take for in front of him. All black, eyes glowing yellow, burning into his mind, his eyes opened wider as he stared at the shadow doppelganger of himself. The shadow hissed loudly and it lifted a black hand up as darkness swilred around its hand and took form as a Keyblade. It resembled Leonardo's Kingdom Key, but was completely covered in darkness.

The pain left Leonardo. But it was quickly replaced by terror. This was monster of his nightmares, fully animated and in the flesh.

"No," Leonardo whispered.
"No, no," his voice began to tremble.
"No...no...no..." tears of fear slowly welled up within his dark brown eyes.
"NO!!!" he shrieked.

 

Kawi stood in front of Leo, seeing him in pain. He blocked Leo's sight of his nightmare with keyblade in hand. Cracks started to emerge through the walls like a glass cup being crushed. There wasn't much time. He remembered when he absorbed the darkness on Hollow Bastion and now he must do it again, in order to save his friend and ultimately; the light. He was afraid, not knowing what will happen once he commits the act for the second time. He destroyed a world with his darkness and the ashes of the world remained prevelent in his mind but if he did not save Disney Castle now; all the worlds will eventually fade away. He immediately plunged his hand into the heartless' chest and he closed his eyes, as he saw the heartless' head faded away. Kawi screamed as hids mind felt heat oppressed and the darkness was stabbing through his mind.
"Nozomi...Nozomi" he moaned, as sweat fell down his face like blood. It started to turn black. He wanted reassurance from his best friend. He wanted to know if he'll be OK.

 

Sparks flew as metal clashed against metal. The two were in fierce combat, neither paying attention to their surroundings. It was only when a stray attack broke one of the giant windows they paused. "You're stronger than you look, pawn."
Kage looked straight at Vanitas. "I am no pawn. But enough of this. It seems I must stop holding back."
Vanitas laughed. "So should I." Vanitas leapt into the air and covered himself in darkness. When he landed the darkness peeled back to reveal his change. His outfit was now black and white, and on his helmet was the Unverse symbol. With a loud yell Vanitas charged forward and started a rapid flurry of stabs at Kage. All the Forgotten could do was parry. For a few minutes it seemed like Kage would be able to hold out against Venitas' assault when suddenly a cut appeared on his arm. Then one showed up on his side, then his leg. Finally Kage jumped back out of harms way. Vanitas just scoffed and charged again.
"Fool." Kage smirked and out of nowhere a large grey veil appeared around him. Vanitas ignored it and kept up his charge, but once he was under the cover of the veil he felt strange. Kage moved forward and began his own series of attacks. Vanitas did his best but he couldn't keep up. He was slashed multiple times before Kage kicked him into the far wall and dropped his veil.

"What did you do?" Vanitas demanded. His helmet was slightly chipped, his mouth was visible.
"My unique ability. I create a simple barrier around myself that extends five feet in every direction, even below me into the ground. Anything in the barrier is given a slowed feel of time, while I continue to move at a normal pace. You entered and slowed to a snail's pace to me. A Forgotten is able to withstand time's endless flow, don't find it strange when one gains control of a small portion of it." Kage charged forward and slashed at Vanitas' head, only to be blocked by his X-Blade. That's when Kage's veil formed again.
"Shit!" Vanitas cursed and tried to jump back out of it. However the veil slowed him down enough that Kage grabbed him by his foot and slammed him into the ground in front of him. With a smirk Kage began cutting Vanitas all over his body until finally he grabbed his helmet. "I've always wondered what's under that mask. Let's find out, shall we?" Kage deactivated his veil as he ripped off the mask and let out a gasp at Vanitas' face. "Well well, that's a shocker."

"Now to take your power!" Kage grabbed Vanitas by the face and lifted him up, but before Kage could do anything else Vanitas snapped his fingers. A couple Unverse appeared and attacked Kage in the back, making him drop Vanitas.
"Don't count me out. I'll be back with more power to kill you!" A dark portal appeared and Vanitas ran through it. His Unverse vanished just after. Kage sighed and summoned out a Neoshadow.
"Find him and come straight to me. Don't tell anybody else what you're doing either." The Heartless nodded and vanished. "Well Vanitas, next time we meet... your power will belong to me."

 

His eyes went wide with terror as he felt himself plunging deeper into darkness. The heartless now faded away and Kawi was clutching his heart. He held onto Nozomi tightly, as he was trying to resist the darkness from taking over.
"Nozomi...I'm sorry...I'm so sorry"
He let go of her and collapsed onto the floor, his hands held onto the plain white floor, shaking. His face started to feel cold and his skin turned pale. He looked up and saw a keyhole in the middle of the room, sparkling with light. He crawled towards it and pointed his keyblade to the keyhole. A light beamed from within the keyblade and a blast of energy shot into the keyhole. It suddenly chimed and the castle was starting to rebuild itself. The thorns started to enflame and disappear and the cracks in the castle were sealed. The Cornerstone brightened in a deeper ferocity, being able to give the castle a lot more protection. Kawi looked down. His feet started to disappear.
