Name: Kenshin "Ken" Yamamoto

Personality and attributes: Ken has always been undisciplined, but not because his parents didn't try. When he was punished for the things he did, he ran away from home for the time being and was always a troublemaker. Even though he's a nice guy, his appearance and infamous ties with the local criminals and "low-life" makes many evade him in the school halls and in the cafeteria.

He has a passion for DnB and hip-hop. He loves spending time around the record store down by the slums browsing and listening to old school disco recordings from the '70's and '80's. He has taste for art as well, but he rarely expresses himself without a spray can and a brick wall. He's also a great beatboxer.

Biography: Kenshi was born to a family of three, now five with his happily married parents and one older brother and a younger sister. Being one in the middle, nothing was expected of him nor was he entitled to the loving an care that his younger sister was. Although he wasn't ignored, he always felt that his siblings shared more time with their parents than he ever did or wanted to. One curious trait that often came up in after school counseling as an ice-breaker was the fact that Ken hadn't stated his parents as "Mom" or "Dad" rather than calling them by their own names. Respect towards elders was one trait that was completely wiped off from Ken's mind during his childhood most likely linking strongly to not feeling noticed or loved as a little child.

He made his first real friends outside of school and they tormented the neighbourhood after dark spraying on the walls most likely because of the adreline rush that he felt during and after. The first time he was in contact with the local police was when he was caught shoplifting from a nearby 24/7 supermarket as a 13-year-old and his parents didn't like this one bit. They had suspected Ken for the longest time that he was one of the responsible for the chaos and vandalism in the neighborhood and that settled it. Once they got home, his and his father started fighting, verbally and psychically after the incident almost on a daily basis.

He started hanging out at night clubs by the age of 14 with his posse in hip-hop events after dark by slipping by the doorman and even managing to make contacs to the local underground criminals during the year by working as a petty smuggler for some extra cash.

Now, as a 16-year-old, he is known in the school as the guy that can get what you want, for a price lower than the original. He's in constant trouble in the school for smoking and managed even once be sent home for being intoxicated but due to his uncle's influnce, who works as a right hand in the background for a vey known goverment official, he hasn't been fired more than once. During breaks from school and sometimes during classes he can usually be found from hanging out under the stadium benches around the running track next to the school.

He spends some of his time outside of school hanging out in the slums with his posse or by making hip-hop beats or by writing, rehearsing and recording lyrics at his room that he has transformed into a miniature record studio.

Dual lead vocals? Not entirely sure I comprehend. To me there's one lead vocal.

As keyboardist, I may not always doing a lot (some pieces use keyboard, some don't) and piano tends to be lead vocalist (see OneRepublic) so I can do it. But maybe for the start of it Sho's character could be lead vocal and maybe Mel comes in and takes over lead vocal from Sho's character. Could create some jealousy and interesting drama.

Also, Sho I VM'ed you, I need you to edit your post. Nobody knows who Melody is. It's her first day, and nobody should know she even existed prior to this before as she lived at a boarding performance art school, 365 days a year, only maybe coming home for holidays, but even then, she would be in her house.

 

Well there's no real dual lead. Not even with duets. One of partner is singing lead with the melody, maybe taking turns with a verse, but the chorus one is lead melody and another is harmonizing.

Even then they're not "singing together" they're not singing the samething.

There is a melody.

And there is a harmony.

Melody is on top with higher importance.
The harmony is below used to help add a layer below the melody and boost the melody some more.

Hence why harmony vocal parts in a band are considered back up vocals.

First off, you're singing along to a radio or song already. The harmony is already placed within the song if not done by another singer, it's done with auto tune by the lead vocal and software.

And for one I'm not having my character singing in perfect unison. It sounds like crap if being performed or recorded. Again take it from a music major. In fact for us musicians ( not even music major but people with musical background) if you pay attention, if in groups somebody always takes harmony. Which to be perfectly honest can be quite fun.

Now end of the argument, Vox said no, it's his RP, no is a no.

 

Well even if it were to happen, which I don't want it to. You're proposing with my character, and sorry if I then deny. Knowing the way you work you'll also want some sort of relationship or you'll come up with another story where your character falls in love with mine. This character will not permit that. This character is going to be quite a bit of a contemporary sort of character

Age: 17
Gender: Male
Personality: Generally a very quiet boy, generally speaking to only those who were also musicians or talked to him first. He generally spends most his time playing music or writing songs. Is normally introverted unless he really sees an interest in someone. Very bouncy and excitable when it comes to music. Is most collected while playing.

Biography: As a kid, Will spent most of his time with music since his parents always listened to it, so it was no surprise to his parents when he asked for a guitar. Once he received the instrument he spent a lot of his school classes doing nothing but music. Having discovered this passion at a young age he decided to dedicate a good amount of his time into it, studying everything he could find about it, often spending hours with a book in his hands and guitar in his lap. As a very bright student, he saw music as his one thing that made things simpler and was his stress reliever. It made him understand everything completely, almost like he was on top of the world. So he began taking more music classes and focusing that as his major area of study. As his classes progressed he slowly began venturing into singing as well, giving him more chances to perform since he now could be a solo act. As his skills progressed and he became a better performer he began looking for specialized schools. After quite a bit of searching he heard about a famous music club in the K-On club. After he presented the info to his parents they allowed him to switch schools, managing to start at the beginning of his 11th year. On his first day, he decides to look for the music club, hoping to meet some of the people.

Just saying here that Vox accepted my character profile, so there's no conflict about me posting into the RP.

As my character is not going to have a major part in the story but just later on as we've discussed it with Vox, I might have to do large time skips in my posts (i.e. when you're still bustling into the classrooms, my character will be sitting outside of the school whilst you're already in class, if that makes any sense). Reasoning behind this is that one, I'm currently in the-middle-of-nowhere, and two, I live in a totally different timezone than you guys, like here it's just 1PM when you're still sleeping.

But yeah, Alex makes contact with my character when he needs to, if not even earlier. I'll write my first post to the story soonish. Feel free to converse with my character, and reading the profile that I wrote might help.

 

I realize I'm a little late on this, but since the position for lead vocals is still technically open, I thought I might try for it

Name: Leliana Daehn

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Personality: If Leliana were to describe herself, she’d probably use the words quiet, stoic, and lonely. If you asked anyone that had spent an extended period of time with her to provide a description, they would most likely describe her as kind, confident, and optimistic. In reality, she was a mix between all of these. She was never really one to get up in front of a group of people to rile them up and make decisions for them. She would, however, let her opinion and thoughts be known clearly, without any of those wishy-washy word games. She knows what she wants, at least a lot of the time, and will speak up to make those desires a reality. Then again, she’s never been a bully to anyone who disagreed with her. Leliana lives with a couple philosophies, one of which is that everyone has their own trials and tribulations that nobody knows about, so there’s no reason to be mean and judgmental of others without knowing anything about them. She also lives optimistically, hoping for the best and pushing herself to make the best out of any situation no matter what happens. Although Leliana does get very emotional at times, she does her best to show off her happy face whenever she can.

It’s because of these traits that many people really enjoy her company. All of her close friends have moved away, however, so coming to this new semester of school has been tough for her. She’s always had some luck making friends doing things she liked, so she’s really hoping that some of the clubs at school will be to her liking and that she can meet people that she can open up to and show off her exciting side. As a huge fan of music and singing, and also due to the fact other clubs she might have wanted to join were full, she eventually joins the Light Music Club in order to make friends, have a place to sing, and have a good time outside of the house.

Biography: Leliana was born the second child into a normal, happy family. She has an older brother named Leon that was born two years before her (her parents are quite fond of the letter “L”) and a couple goldfish that have remained unnamed due to the fact that no one could ever agree on names for them. Leliana’s father occupied a high managerial position at a factory a town over, making enough to allow for a comfortable life style in addition to the work that Leliana’s mother did as a seamstress. There was enough money that it was saved up for Leon and Leliana’s education, and enough time between the two parents and children that the family dynamic was extremely close and strong.

The perfect household abruptly came crashing down when Leliana’s father lost his job due to the factory closing from legal charges and the death of his only brother in a freak car accident within the same week. The mental stress and psychological damage done by the close proximity of such huge events took a great toll on Leliana’s father, causing him to develop clinical depression and borderline bi-polar disorder. Due to this, Leliana’s mother had to pick up another job, and Leliana and Leon had to learn to essentially grow up without having present mother and father figures.
Living with a depressed and bi-polar father meant that Leliana was prepared to deal with pretty much any emotionally charged situation. A house filled with melancholy, anger, brief respites of a shade of happiness, and utter disappointment were common within the same week, and so the family learned to adapt. Leliana was always taught by her mother to press on and take the good things as they came while doing her best to ignore and let go of the bad. To help her get through everything, Leliana picked up many different hobbies growing up, including writing, drawing, calligraphy, and biggest of all, singing. When her father would go into angry rants and shouting matches with her mother, Leliana would throw on her headphones and sing along with her favorite songs in an attempt to escape from the tumultuous world around her. All the while, she has kept up in her school work in order to have the chance to do anything she desires, even though she isn’t exactly sure what she wants her life to end up like. Joining the Light Music club during this new school semester is the perfect way for her to explore options and take her love of music and singing to further heights than ever before.
