    30 years or more,
    John Coltrane did labor long,
    ¡'Til a star burst forth!

    ¡Improvisation!
In the middle of a song,—
    Teach young dogs new tricks.

    Peremptorily,
    Podium hurriedly,—¿Then?—
    Quandary,—haply.

    Hierarchy so strong,
Closer to the heart than song,—
    For High place, all long.

    Wood vibrates to strings,
    Deep enchanting male voicings,
    Dark night—cello sings.

    There's a magic wand,
    Lifted sideways becomes song,
    &, when shared,—it's love.

    Symmetry is all,
    Imperfections miniscule,—
    Differentiate.

    Sun shone down on rose,
    Sullen pink, refused to bloom,—
    Now she pouts in red.

    Everyone has dreams,
    Many happily fulfilled,—
    Life's a lottery.

    ¡Anger swelling red!
    ¡Turns another's eye to black!
    Pink the steak applied.

    Patient love, warm hugs,
White hair gives the gift of time,—
    Sunset's glowing sheen.

    Beauty doth walk soft,
When she treads upon man's heart,—
    Nothing visible.

    ¡Ah, he comes again!
    Impertinence in person,—
    ¿Impersonating?

    ¿How can love advice?
    It's a storm loos'd on the soul,—
    ¡Crash of sea on rocks!

    Flute longs for player,
Firm warm lips that would move her,—
    Hi pitched xtasi.

    Mists washed down your eyes,
As you sweetly sang a chant,—
    Moon in lowland fog.

    There's only a drink,
    Left 'tween sanity & me,—
    ¿Which one is crazy?

    ¿Was it a long war,—
    That you emerged casual?
    ¿Or, stretching mind's eye?

    Cold owns—stone house old,
    Lavender quilt filled with you,—
    Love's habitation.

    In the cold sometimes,
Two hearts cannot find true warmth,
    Like a day old fire.

    Lingering moment,
Dew quiet slipped down your cheek,
    Falling on my lips.

    Yellow moon misses,
With mist tears portions quite dark,
    Sparkling droplets's fall.

    Withered, brittle pink,
    Cannot hydrate or get drink,
    Life left in a blink.

    Wind wrapped round mountain,
    Brought down white flurries,—silent
    ¿Did the moon sparkle?

    Discarded old rag,
Could have still been used a bit,—
    Paper towel replaced.

    Down Snow Blowing Cold—Renga

    22 January 2005
    Corpus Christi, Texas

    Snowy marabou,
Thou, thy writings are for soul,
    Downy feathered soft.

    Shotgun blast on high,
Down came feathered dove in red,—
    ¿Did peace and love rend?

    Entrail vision dark,
    Forecasting from liver's mark,—
    White feathers and red.

    Two by six the hole,
They dug to put me inside,—
    It filled first with snow.

    Tickling laughter bursts,
    Concatenated coughing,
    From white feather's touch.

    In a script of white,
    Mist unseen flowing, clear line,
    Snow covers green pine.

    Snow dove, trembling branch,
    Avalanche cascades down slope,—
    From winged flutter soft.

    Doth thou doubt red drops,
Mark a bloody trail on snow,
    Where fair heart was pierced.

    Same receptors both,
Dual their purpose pain and joy,—
    Why each lives heart knows.

    Perfection's heart's love,
    Soul's dwelling, moist kisses fond,
    Leaving imprints soft.
Like autumn leaves on brown earth,
Like winter snow on clear lakes.

    Silence's not absence,—
    Presence giving full senses,
    Lenses seeing heart.

    Chains come from the mind,
Bind no more heart that finds truth,—
    Flies true to kind life.

    There's a mailbox, there,
    Somewhere, where angels read all,
    That's here in the heart.

    Love's a golden orb,
    Rises forth each morning East,
    Constant & faithful

    Poor Aida's fate,
    Ethiopian princess,—
    Leontyne Price sings.

    Fragile creations,
Little hearts blown out of glass,
    In love's hot kiln's glow,
    Molten liquid comes to form,
    Beauty susceptible frail.

    Aida's singing,
    Operatic tragedy,—
    Mesmerizing sounds.

    No lo digas mas,
El dolor viene y se va,—
    Cuando abre flor.

    Now but residue,
    Misty memory,—sweet dew,
    Endures deep in you.

    Life climbs tall mountain,
& Falls without fixed life lines, —
    Dark womb to blanched light;

A few years, then sight, —
Seed grows from earth to blue sky,
    Spreading into sun;

    Green-fresh-Spring-rains-pink,
    Budding flowers become fruits, —
    Sun angles higher;

    Dusk red & orange,
Sun's slant casts shadows stretched long, —
    Gentle as Thy kiss;

    Thou art my cycles,
My Spring, my North, my Death's end, —
    Complete, — Destiny.
