I am a major fan of this FF entry. The characters are all very colorful and never bland. The music is amazing, and the story is beautiful. Not to mention the best villain in FF history, (Kefka! WOOT) is here.

So what do the rest of you think? Perhaps we could see another remake of this, similar to FFIV?

VI is one of my favorite entries as well. VI did a nice job with the characters- there was something for me to like about every one of them, though some were more useful than others. I agree that the music was amazing. I found the story very absorbing. And in keeping with that, Kefka is hands down the best damn villain ever. He made VI.

More people should play this game. It is far superior to VII, at least in my opinion.

Final Fantasy VI is hands down my absolute favorite. I played it after 7, tactics, and 5 so it wasnt the first. It was in the anthology collection for PS1, so it was kind of slow. I didnt finish it until picking up the game boy advance version. I really love the story and music in this game in particular, like first i loved the story and music in 7, but once i finished 6 i relized how much more epic they were in that installment. It kind of sucks that 6 and 7 are only in the same category because of their title because outside some minor themes in story and aerith's music sounding a bit like celes's, they could not be more different. That makes it very difficult to compare them outside of saying how much the game has left a lasting impression on you. It doesnt matter what the graphics are or what platform, if the game is good, it should transend all of that. It is safe to say that both are great games. Especially since the last handful of final fantasy games havent been so memorable. I still prefer 6 after playing the rest of the series.

I don't know that I've ever talked with anyone who's played VI and hated it. This is a game that's held up remarkably well, especially since, as you said, some of the latest games haven't been all that well received.

I haven't actually played any of the FF games in a long time, unfortunately, but I still remember VI as being in my top three or four of the franchise. It had a very engaging story and likable characters, which are always the most important aspects of a game for me. I remember enjoying the battle system, and I liked that there were a lot of characters to choose to fight with, and that they were all different and had their own special abilities (whereas, for example, VII's cast, except for limit breaks, were for the most part interchangeable).

As far as comparing VI and VII, I agree that they are both classics. I could pick them apart more, but I don't know that this is really the thread for it. I do still agree with my previous opinion that VI is the better game, though I admit I have a lot of nostalgia for VII.

The way i see it, vi is alot like a good novel, well written and very detailed full of witty dialogue...
vii is more like a summer blockbuster film, lots of scifi action and has camera angles similar to a noir film.

^ I think that's the perfect way to describe these two games. VI definitely has an epic, fantasy novel feel to it. There was a lot of depth to the story, and a lot of potential for more exploration of the world, both prior to the events of the game and after. I'm a little surprised it doesn't have a boatload of sequels and/or prequels yet.
