Evolution

    Micro evolution has been proved, as Shadow says. However, it's only that way because cells have much faster lives or shorter lifespans or something of the like - I forget exactly, but I believe that the rate of reproduction that cells have give them the ability to evolve at a much faster rate than macrobiology.

    And it quite clearly says in the bible that God created Man in "His own image". It also says later in the bible that "All that has been will be" and something like that.

    Humans will only grow wings and claws if nature demanded it, and only over a long period of time. Like more than two generations.

    But it's still not enough proof to me that these cells can still evolve into humans. Creating a race that's been extinct ok. Trying to make one thing turn into something higher maybe but trying to connect something to try and say that this race actually came from this race will not persuade me or move me at all and when they want to do that on the humans, then I will not accept that evolution. And how in the world can you say that nature demands it? There are a lot of people who tries to dominate over nature in many ways.

    Think of it this way.

    Cells = Lego
    Plane = Man

    you start off with 1 block of lego, then 2, 3, so on and so on...
    You build a lego plane, the plane needs an engine, you add more lego to make an engine

    This is probably the most retarded explaination of evolution I have ever written but you seem very confused brandon so it had to be done.

    This plane came from this lego block.

    why do fish swim, why do birds fly. Its due to evolution, its demanded by there surroundings.
    Another basic expaination.
    A man is on a cliffs edge, he has a tall tree next to him, he needs a bridge to cross, he cuts down the tree and turns it into a bridge so he can cross. That is a tree evolving (somewhat) into a bridge.

    ps. this post made my head hurt.

    Made me laugh at the part about legoes. Amusing. i can see where you're coming from but if they want to see where humans came from, they could've just used human cells and do many different activities on it and whatever to see which race we really came from. I don't mind the part about tadpoles turning into this or whatever. That don't bother me. It's the part about humans that frustrates me. we start off as eggs, then embryo, (Or was it fetus?) then fetus (Or was it embryo) grow for 9 months, birth and yet we still grow.

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

    yes but that's not evolution thats the human growth cycle. evolution is the change of a species into an entirely new species. lets use the chicken for example. a chicken goes from an embryo in an egg into a bird, is that evolution? no thats just the growth cycle of the chicken. now say a chicken hatches with something different about it, its feathers weigh more for example. now if this chicken lives to pass on these genes then soon enough we have new chickens with feathers that weigh more. eventually we have enough that it can be classified as a new species. thats essentially evolution. started with one then a new one came about from a single mutation.

    and the expeirament with the e.coli proves evolution because it actually shows it happening. does something like that happen to humans? yes, eventually. what you're not getting is we're complex to begin with. something simple like e.coli will evolve quicker than something complex like us. the more complex something is, the longer it will take for evolution to happen. we're already complex as it is so a random mutation might take hundreds of years.

    and i wasn't calling you a moron because you don't believe me. i was calling you a moron because you don't believe a proven scientific fact.

    Has nature ever demanded for humans to change?

  7. GrandShadow

    no, instead we used our higher intellect and adapted to the enviorment or adapted the enviorment to us.

    In essence, our minds were the things that adapted. But there is also the case I mentioned earlier with the people and the special lungs. . .

    Perhaps Man is still in His own image. And, 'all that has been will be' doesn't necessarily mean no evolution, depending on how you view it.

    Ecclesiastes 1
    Everything Is Meaningless
    1 The words of the Teacher, [a] son of David, king in Jerusalem:

    2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!"
    says the Teacher.
    "Utterly meaningless!
    Everything is meaningless."

    3 What does man gain from all his labor
    at which he toils under the sun?

    4 Generations come and generations go,
    but the earth remains forever.

    5 The sun rises and the sun sets,
    and hurries back to where it rises.

    6 The wind blows to the south
    and turns to the north;
    round and round it goes,
    ever returning on its course.

    7 All streams flow into the sea,
    yet the sea is never full.
    To the place the streams come from,
    there they return again.

    8 All things are wearisome,
    more than one can say.
    The eye never has enough of seeing,
    nor the ear its fill of hearing.

    9 What has been will be again,
    what has been done will be done again;
    there is nothing new under the sun.

    10 Is there anything of which one can say,
    "Look! This is something new"?
    It was here already, long ago;
    it was here before our time.

    11 There is no remembrance of men of old,
    and even those who are yet to come
    will not be remembered
    by those who follow.

    Chew on this, mon ami. I found the passage.

    Existentialism is always a fun subject. And I'm gonna gues that I probably did not understand the true meaning of the passage. Unless it is basically summed up in the last part.

    Although, nothing in reality can truly be proven.

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

    no offense but that is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. a lot of things have been proven. what makes you say that nothing can be truly proven?

  13. Moogle

    A kind of Existensialism, this is. For example, we could all be the imagination of some kid's minds, etc. Or, we could all be part of some massive computer game, although we don't have physical bodies and are instead just creations of the mainframe.

    That's what happens when you have way too many thinkers for friends. Weird shit happens.^

    Think about it. We can say that something has been proven. But how can you be sure that it has really been proven. And in that same sense, you can never be 100% sure of anything. In the end, it all boils down to philosophy. Metaphysics and Epistemology. Moogle's latest post kinda explains it.

    You cannot prove that this is true or not. For example: In reality I may be in a coma. And everything I believe to be real is actually a dream. Can you prove that my example is incorrect? No. Because, for all I know, everybody here on this site is all part of my imagination.

    Thinking like that is fun.

    okay, then how about this?
    we've proven how say fish can breath underwater; through their gills.
    we've proven that water is one hydrogen molecule and two oxygen molecules, H2O.
    we've proven that a bird can fly because its hollow bones and strong muscles allow it to ride aircurrents and propel itself through the skies.
    we've proven that humans can adapt to just about any situation due to our higher intellect.

    do i need to go on? saying nothing can be proven is the stupidest thing i've ever heard.

    Prove it (lol. Figure'd I'd say it for the hell of it).

    How can you say that all of those examples are proven? For all you know, it could be one giant conspiracy.

    Have you ever seen a fish breathe? Maybe they just swim with their mouths open.

    Have you seen a single water molecule? No (As far as I can guess), because atoms are too small to be seen.

    Without personal experiences, it is impossible to prove and know for sure that what you said is true.

    And in an attempt to further explain myself, I say this: Prove you exsist. Prove somebody else's exsistance. And do it while you are completely alone. Without any verification, you cannot prove you or anybody else exsists. From my perspective, nobody exsists unless I am near them.

    then you are a ver simple and close-minded individual that can never prove or disprove anything.
    i don't even see why you bother posting in a debate if thats your stance on things.

    Simple? Sure. But closed-minded? I'd say no, even though it is a possibility. People are so quick to call somebody closed-minded if that person does not agree with their perspective, or say something that normally appears to be ignorant. Don't you think that not considering a different view of things is more close-minded? Like I said before, the idea of nothing is provable is a philosophical thing.

    Should I make a debate on existentialism, if this continues? Because this is a thread on EVOLUTION.

    go ahead if you want. the thing is, evolution has been proven. the only people that don't believe in the proven scientific fact are either religious morons or those that go with existentialism.
