Breaking Comtraversities: Digimon and Pokemon

Thought I might do this, because of the following reasons.

•Some PokeFans believe that Digimon is copying Pokemon
•And other reasons I'm too lazy to place on here.

So lets begin with the purpose of Digimon and Pokemon.


The point of Pokemon was to be a game where kids could collect pokemon, train them, battle them, and catch them all! It was based off of a machine in Japan called "Capsule Monsters". It was like one of those prize machines you see in arcades. The prizes we're monsters inside of capsules, and soon, Pokemon started development, but originally it was called Capumon, until finally Pocket Monsters was the final choice in name, and Pokemon was born.

Digimon, was intended to be the boy version of Tamagotchi. Soon it was given a short movie, but then its own TV show, DIGIMON: Adventure, after so many people loved te short movie.


Now that you know the origins of both Pokemon and Digimon, lets identify the similarities and deferences.

Similarities:
•Humans can have Digimon and Pokemon as partners
•They can fight other Digimon and Pokemon
•Digimon and Pokemon are discovered ever so often, and it is still unknown how many there are.

Deferences:
•In Pokemon, Pokemon are common, and coexist with humans. Digimon live ight under our noses, only a select few know about the existence of Digimon.
•While Pokemon Trainers can collect several Pokemon, and have a team of six, Digimon Tamers only have one partner (But in the games, players can collect numerous digimon and switch partners.)
•The Digital World is infinite, and Digimon are made of data, Pokemon are organic.
•Pokemon are based off of mainly animals ((With exceptions like Gllade, Gardevoir and Landerous)), while Digimon are based off of all kinds of things.
•Digimon can digivolve and devolve to several different forms, and have different evolution paths, Pokemon have set evolution paths and cannot return to previous forms.
•Digimon have a greater number than digimon ((A total between 1,000 and 2,000)), while Pokemon has over 600 Pokemon currently, and will expand wih the release of X and Y.
•Digimon are capable of human speech, while only a few Pokemon can, most of which speak in their own language.

As you can tell, the differences outweigh the similarities. But what was the main reason for causing such controversy?

Well, the Pokemon Anime was released in 1997, Digimon Adventure was released in 1999, two years after the Pokemon Anime debuted on television.

Because of the time spans, as well as both being Animes with similar styles and concepts, its understandable why people believe Digimon was trying to be like Pokemon.
