That sucks, I got suspended for wearing Got Jesus? Its hell without him.
You know, that Got Milk? phrase?

And I forgot about that Merry Christmas thing. Ya know what I'd say? (just joking by the way)

Since Merry Christmas is wrong, how about, Merry F***mas?

    Sorry, just being a smarta**.
    Okay, back to subject.

That is actually controlling people's rights. Hell, Santa can't say ho ho ho anymore because it offends women. Its just rediculous! Take away the ho ho ho, and he's not Santa anymore!

Oh this is a good one. I don't know where this was, nor do I have any articles to back this up. In fact my dad heard it in a truck stop so it may not be true at all, but personally, even if it isn't, I believe it would happen, so I'll tell the story anyway.

Some school was holding a contest for the "best African-American student". Dumb contest, but that's not the point. One of the nominees was a student we'll call Reggie. I don't know if that's actually his name, but I'm gonna call him that. Reggie's a great guy. A lot of people know him, he's popular. What's more, is he's actually a foreign exchange student. From Africa. So, naturally, he wins.

Some of the other black students were upset by this. They challenged it, went to the principal and the school board. Reggie was actually expelled. Why? Reggie was from South Africa. He was white. Therefore he didn't deserve the title and the fact that he got it was concidered to be racist and innapropriate.

Am I the only one that thinks this is a load of crap? As an African currently residing in America, he was probably the only person in that school who actually had any right to call themselves an African-American. None of those others had probably ever seen Africa, or had any plans on doing so. And yet he's the one expelled for being the "best African-American".

And that's another thing I want to hit on. That very term. African-American. I hate this. And not just in that case, but any time you are [insert ethinicity]-American. Grow up. You're not an African-American. You're not a Hispanic-American. An Asian-American. You're an American. In my opinion, everytime you hyphenate American, you cheapen it. That says to me that you don't really want to be here, you want to be somewhere else. You're just here for the benefits. My ancestors came from Europe somewhere. England I think, but I'm not positive. I don't call myself an English-American, or a European-American. I'm an American. Period. Now I have nothing against these other countries. The people in France, or England, or China, or wherever are proud of their countries, for the most part. They are proud to be English, French, Chinese, etc. And well they should be. And just like them, I'm proud to be American. And therefore, I'm not going to couple my nationality with that of another nationality I can't claim in any way other than the fact that someone in my family so long ago that no one living in my family could name them without doing extensive research lived lived there.

Actually, a huge problem with this right now is in public schools. My school has BANNED satanic symbols, while Christians are allowed to walk around wearing crosses and the like. Sure, I'm fine with that. I'm just pissed that my school has fallen for the untrue fact that Satanism has to do with the Christian Satan. I've actually complained once about this and nothing has changed.

And, that very contest is affirmative action. If there was a 'best white student' contest at my school, we would be sued for racism. And MANY times, in my school people have come up to me right in front of a teacher and has insulted me for being bi/atheist/geeky and the teachers don't do anything!

And a huge problem came up on Monday at my school. We watch science videos in homeroom on Mondays, and the tenth and final question on your worksheet - dare I say it - was 'Whats causing global warming'. Naturally I told my teacher that I found this offensive as I personally don't think that there's enough evidence for this to be even considered to be taught in schools. And the best part? I told my teacher that I would not answer this question because I didn't think that Global Warming was true and she LAUGHED in my face.

I told her to shove where the sun don't shine. Or at least, I wanted too.

On many accounts, I've seen security at my school putting a white student in trouble for one thing, then the moment a student that belongs to a minority does it, they don't do shit.

One time I even got chewed out for not saying and putting my hand over my heart during the pledge of allegiance. At first I kindly told the vice principal (who should already know this) that it's completely optional and that I don't believe in god and by reciting it I would contradict my beliefs, so it's unfair to make me recite it.

She said she'd give me lunch detention.

After she told me this, I told her that if she actually carries out that threat I would be sure that the school would be hounded by media vans the next day.

    She shut up.

The problem is, is that the people who are supposed to be looking out for this kind of thing do this kind of thing.

Damn your school is messed up. Either my school was a lot better or I just got lucky with my teachers, cause I never had people that taught such opinionated things like that. My teachers loved to sit there and debate things with you. I had some that would love you just to disagree just so he could have a good debate. Many of my more unorthdox religious views actually came from something a teacher had said in class that made me think.

But yes, that very contest is affirmative action. It goes back to what I said before about Gay Pride and minority specific scholarships. Hell, we even have a Black History Month. Can you imagine if someone tried to create so much as a White History Hour? Again, I don't want one, but the very fact that a minority can do this and I can't annoys me to no end.

    I've said it many times.

Gay pride parades and black history month are one step forward and two steps back. These minorities bitch endlessly about not being treated as equals, yet they purposely set themselves apart.

Such as, if I were to suddenly say WHITE POWER! I would get beaten up and arrested, amidst the cries of black people shouting BLACK POWER!

I've gotta jump into this one.
A friend of mine is an atheist, and when he brought his copy of the Necronomicon to school, he got it taken away. His parents went to pick up the book, and the PRINCIPAL threw it away!

Not just that, but people from other religions aren't allowed to wear anything signifying thier religions, however, we Christians can wear our crosses out in the open. I like that, but hate that I'm the only one who can show my beliefs. Its just wrong.

^ everyone is allowed to show their religion. It's against the law otherwise. Turbans, Yamaka (sp?), star of david, and that hindu forehead dot (i dont mean to be offensive but i dont know the name) are all symbols of your religion and are allowed to be worn. Another funny story, i got a WEEK of detention because i told this religious girl in my class that i dont believe in christianity directly when she asked me if i did. The teacher said i was being insensitive. the conversation went like this. "do you pray" (her) "no, i don't" (me) "oh, are you christian" (her) "no, i don't belive in that really". 1 week of detention for being "intolerant".

    That's BS man.
If you don't believe, that's your deal, you shouldn't get into trouble by a teacher for it. Dang.

Its in school that people have the biggest problem with religion.....

That's not intolerance it's disbelief. You don't have to pretend you're something you're not just to make someone feel better. You didn't insult anyone for being Christian. You just said you weren't. People are so touchy. You can't say anything anymore without offending someone. My mom was on a site where someone got all up in arms because someone made a flippant comment about eating disorders and everyone freaked out saying they were offended. Get a grip people. I could get upset everytime someone makes a joke about diabetics (not that it's common, but I've seen it a few times on TV shows like Family Guy). But you know what, I love it. And I make as many jokes at my own expense as the next guy. Quit looking for a way for everything to be racisit, sexist, or intolerant in some other way and just take it for what it is.

I agree. I use words that would be considered offensive near daily, but only for the sake of humor.

Sadly enough, I don't get in trouble for this. And yet I get in trouble for things that aren't bad.

How about we just all do a giant simultaneous lawsuit on our schools for being intolerant of atheism and other stuff?

^ Say something that adds to the conversation or be quiet.

And yeah. I wish it would work. The only chance we would have of changing things is if we get on national news.

  14. Beloved

    Beloved Azure's Beloved

Man, putting this stuff on national news wouldn't get rid of the problem.
Its not fair, but we've just gotta deal with it.

    Actually, it might.

Imagine the look on the politicians faces when they see a 13 year old completely destroying everything they've worked for.

"O NOEZ WE GOTTA CHANGE GAIZ!" They would cry. Mind you, if a 13 year old makes more sense that they do, somethings gotta change.

Bingo. I don't even have to argue this one, instead I'll just give my situation as an example.

Aside from any people who think inter-racial dating is taboo, people are generally ok with seeing two people of different ethnicities dating. That's my situation, I'm a White (tall!) Eastern European guy, and my girlfriend of almost three years is an Asian (very very small!) girl. First off, I don't 'feel' superior to her because of my race...infact I feel inferior! I always feel like I'm the ugly one in the relationship...haha.

But ok, I'm not posting this to brag or anything. I have a few instances of this 'reverse racism' to explain.

First, I've been told "Why do you have a girl like that? You're not even asian!" by asian guys, where the emphasis was on the fact that I somehow deserved less. This is just BS in my opinion, and just goes to show you how that so called 'azn-pride' or asian-pride can get to peoples' heads. (I personally feel that taking pride in your race is ridiculous)

Next is the scholarship issue, as EbAl mentioned. My girlfriend is applying for further studies this year, and on just about every application they've asked if she could 'attribute any unfair treatment or disadvantages' to her race. She could have said yes, that's what it's there for: minorities. Instead, she said no, and didn't indicate her race.

She got accepted...why? Because she's a brilliant girl and doesn't need special treatment because of her race: Neither does anyone. As for me...when it comes time to apply for graduate studies...haha. I might not be so lucky! I definitely know medical schools around here save about a 10th to maybe an 8th of their spots exclusively for people of native origin...which I think is ludicrous.

And then there is one more issue: I've been called racist by blacks on several occasions. Buddy, I'm from Eastern Europe...there were slaves...but they sure as heck weren't black.

I think the problem is, the 'vulnerable' populations (in particular blacks) tend to learn the word racism very early, and use it as a defense mechanism. Instead of focusing on their skills and capabilities (ie. what's the same), they're focusing on their history (ie. what's different).

In the end you get this: A race that is on average 40 IQ points below the other races, which I attribute much of to attempts to coast on this racism issue / special treatment in schools.

Note that I don't say this 40 IQ point thing as a racist remark...it's a statistical anomally found in African-Americans for some reason unbeknownst to me other than my theory above. I know some African Americans quite well, and they're either brilliant people who work hard and don't let the colour of their skin get to them, or they're lazy people who just want to coast. But you get that in every race...that's my point.

    Talk about a mouthfull. lol

That's true. Seeing as how some people are so obsessed with how their ancestors were treated, and hold grudges against others, just because of that, is quite....dumb.

I'd love to say "get over it" but I can't. And the whole insert-race-here-pride thing I've also witnessed myself. So my GF's hispanic. SO WHAT? Does it really matter of the color? No.

It may be just that they want something to hold on to for a bit of anger, but I don't really care at the moment.

well back to the whole religous discrimination almost every day at lunch one asshole turns to me and makes fun of me being an atheist or he calls me a devil worshipper because i listen to metal
so i turned to him one day and said:
"Chris shut the FUCK up, I'm an atheist, if I worshipped satan I'd be Christian."
then another guy at my table looks at me and says say it again, so I do
he grabs a notebook thinking its mine and rips it in half
then he grabs my pen and snaps in to
he threatens me again and i tell him to eat shit
i later tell the principal and he says i shouldn't have said that about his religous belief...

That's actually quite a small post for him.

And I have noticed that trend as well Mike. Though I think another reason for this is some people have managed to convince themselves that they have no chance for success, even though the way society is set up, they have a much better one at this point. And since they feel here's no point in trying, they don't. They just sit around and collect wellfare their entire life and moan about how poor they are.
