Hi Guest, you may have noticed that we aren't khplanet.com anymore. For more information on why these changes are happening, check out our thread, Site Re-Brand Updates
What if we posted in a bunch of threads? Even if it's just forum games, wouldn't that spike up KHP results on google?
People usually come to sites like this trying to find answers for the series to someone to discuss with.
KHI and KH13 don't seem to have the best of reputations either so maybe a small spike could work?
@Become well I'm at school right now but I can try to help later. I made a lot of threads since coming here and there's lots of older ones I see too.
If double posting can be temporarily ignored I might be able to think of something to spout in a bunch of them.
RPing generates activity within the community. But it isn't a draw-in factor that can be solely relied on. That much has been noted more than enough times in the past.
@Become@Hope Sounds like rps are a stagnated wheel of older members. I wouldn't worry about it so much as I would to try and find a way to draw new in.
Going through these threads, many are a bit too old to bump huh? Hmm I've already made too many of my own as well.
What if you guys made some threads? Like your Spin-off one?
I've never been entirely sold on the stigma of 'forums are dying.' Maybe just stagnating somewhat. It mostly seems that we here have just been content to not really push ourselves to gain any headway. Part of it is the relatively narrow interest base of the majority of the community. But most of I think is just the general lack of media presence beyond the site.
The root of the issue though, was really in the previous site owner, who left us pretty much stranded for the better part of a decade in which we could have been gaining a following.
I'm unsure. Even the ones that are 'somewhat' still alive like KHI or KH13 only hold between 20 or 40 members a week. I even went through and checked them all after reading your comment today, they aren't very lively either.
At most, the KH fandom seems most alive on art sites and youtube. Outside those places, and I assume FB, it's kinda got no focus.
So the previous owner didn't do much? Well that does hold some guilt but you can only gain a following that wants to follow. If even the bigger places are dying out then there's other issues.
I don't think it's a hopeless thing, but I do think it's something that has to be admitted and then a way found to alter it.
Like, if things are in decline then why? What will make a fan go back to a forum?
In truth, it's likely a problem with all of the above factors. The domination of other social media platforms couples with the fact that a lot of the kh fan base of old has become largely disenchanted with the franchise impacts all such places. The fact that khp lagged behind for a long while only exacerbates the issue here. Even with its decline, khi is still noticeably more active than we are.
Then perhaps you can prepare and ride the wave of KH3. Whether KH3 will sink or swim is debatable since a lot of the buyers will be retuners, but you can still be here to greet them maybe.
Eh khi isn't doing as hot as it seems, trust me. Even with it's interviews and the like it never goes over 40 members active now. I was there for years and still havea friend there. It gets spikes on big events like KH3 reveal but those don't last long either.
KH13 fairs about the same as khi and I'm on KHVids and I rarely see more than 10 active at a time on that site.
So your not as far behind as you think so much as the fandom just doesnt seem to...care anymore. At least they dont care to the extent of active fandoms of old.
khi also has an elitist/toxic reputation alongside it's informative one which I think hurts them. You guys lack that so building up could go a long way.
Enough of other forums though. I think at least half of it is the fandom. How do you draw them back?
Frankly, drawing the fandom back into kh is not something we have the power to do. All we can do is keep up with leaks and official reveals leading up to kh3.
I'm not saying you draw fans back to the series. There's a reason it's hardcore fans are keeping it alive and there's reasons it's hardcore fans have....a reputation.
I meant how can you draw them HERE. Reveals on other forums aren't the issue so much as social media. YT and Twitter break news far faster than any forum.
Do you guys perhaps have a twitter or YT you can use to your advantage?
I'm pretty sure we've got both of those. But @Angel would know more about the present state of them. I can totally get behind more YT presence, and, overall, social media integration.
Then perhaps it'd be best to try there first. KH is still alive on YT even if YT has become a cesspool in the comment sections. Fair Use claims are also rampant.
Original content over KH may go a long way though.
Just shooting ideas at this point. I've been trying to find threads but most are way to old and I can't bump my own. I've already posted in your new one as well..hmm....
Then try that and social media. Heck, try adding other things too. For instance, KHvids converts your tumblr posts. Just copy the link, paste and you got a whole post.
I noticed the site and this one have the same or similar forum layout so that should be possible.
Branding and integrating into social sites would go very far.
It's not that there are no plans. It's just that we lack either the ability or the desire to actually discuss, prepare and implement things. And that's just as a staff. An issue that I've tried to work on for several years now. But... well, I can't make people do things they have no interest in doing.
