In the rp there was a 5 year time skip, so we could say it was taken over in the first year of that. And they were trained before it, it's only after that happened Merrick took issue with the leader

And demigods are not common among them?

Not really, You want to make a demigod go ahead, I reckon it will make the story more interesting, but overall they are few of them among the ranks of the guild
