Alright, in August of 1945, the United States dropped two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagisaki. The bombing officially ended World War 2. They were dropped on order of President Truman.

What are your views about it? And what is your oppinion on why Truman ordered the bombing?

I don't know the full details, but I think its something like.

Japan start invading Asian countries, America cut of Oil to Japan, Japan retaliate with the bombing of pearl harbor, America invade Iwo Jima (Okinawa) (Letters of Iwo Jima filled me in on that part, great film). Some other shit probably happened and Pow.

Honestly, it was a stupid idea and should not have been done. I think more civilians were killed than soldiers, and the majority of soldiers were forced to war due to the Japanese having a high regard for honor.

Granted what the Japanese did to the Chinese were more horrible than what Hitler done to the Jews. But the Nuclear effects still last today and spread to other regions. It even could have spread to neighboring countries. Luckily Japan is an island.

I say everything happens for a reason, although, I do not agree with how many deaths this caused.

I know it was warfare and it was 'for their country'. They had to fight as such. Although i do not believe in war for peace.

But anyway. I think it was almost an expirment to test the true powers of the atomic bomb. What scientists got from what happened is more than they could ever have learnt from simulation

Although it was a horrible way to learn :\

Not really, America never got involved in the first place it wouldn't have ended well.I could understand it (too a certain degree) if the Chinese bombed Japan.

I'd like to believe that Truman ordered the bomb drop to quickly end the war and save lives, but I wouldn't doubt it if he did it to show off to Stalin.

He probably did it for both, though more for showing off then ending. And while we probably knew many effects of the bombs,we didnt know all of them.If they wernt as bad as they were we probably would have used them more often then just that once, and better we did then Hitler. From what I know he could have ended up with nukes if he didnt go with a certain type of missle instead, cant remember its name.

V2 rockets. They were the first type of intercontinental ballistic missle or something.

    Hindsight is 20/20...

The question that plagues me is, knowing the bombs' power...would Truman STILL order the bombing?

I'd like to believe he wouldn't...but you never know

Such a terrible thing was never made by man again, nor used. It is a terrible thing that we did to Japan, if the bomb was any stronger it would've killed 'em all off, and then there'd be no Kingdom Hearts, but its how you get shit done.

I have had some debates on this where people think it was a good thing to do as it ended the war...

But, yeah. I agree with you. Fucking stupid thing to do.

It was undoubtibly the hardest decision anyone would have to make. However, if he hadn't done that, the war could have dragged on for years. Japan would have fought tooth and nail, inch by bloody inch, every single man, woman and child fighting and dying for their country. Which would have cost both countries many more lives. It might have been much more deadly at the single moment, but the lives that were lost are only a fraction of what would probably have been lost if America had to invade via amphibious landing.

And the benefits they have by not being obliterated by America back then are immeasurable.

What I meant was why do you think it happened. And what you think about the effects of it.

    Oh
Well I think it happened because the government was corrupted. And it still is.
