What kind of roleplays are we lacking or want to see more of?

Remember my rp & some of you went crazy & you said it went smoothly? I think we should do some more sequal rp's, but it must also be rp's that do fantasies, based off of games taht we do & do not know, & more.

 

some anime RPs would be nice. or maybe some more original RPs

 

I'd like to see a Vampire Knight RP.

 

No. Sequel RPs tend to not do as good as the original.

What we really need are two things.

1.) Originality. We need RPs that are unique. Honestly, alot of RPs are so similar. We've got alot of KH RPs, or some RP that is based off a previously attempted RP. And we need things in RPs that we've never done. Soooooooo many times people do the same thing, just with different characters. People need to try making characters that are different than the ones they've done before. I'm guilty of this too.

EXAMPLES: Sorabrawl. I'm gonna be honest. In just about every (if not all) RP we've been in together, your characters are similar. They seem a bit effeminate when it comes to finding a relationship. They're always so nervous and shy. Occasionally you've gotta make a guy who is different. Make him/her bolder, not shy. Give him/her ambition, making attempts to get what/who he/she wants. Not just being shy and hoping that he/she gets the thing they desire.

Summonerbrandon. Your characters have a tendancy to yell and have bad grammar. And when you do an RP with a canon character, there are times you don't keep with their character. In Video Game Wars, it seems to me that you portray Ultimecia wrong. You give her bad grammar, and have her yell alot. To me, it just seems that you don't do her character properly. And there are some things that you will put in an RP post that really aren't needed. Shaving enemy's heads bald and then having your character over laugh. Seriously? Things like those just annoy people, and they seem a little too cartoonish.

Me. As Mrs. Smith once pointed out to me, my characters are all too similar. They're all kind people and always the good guys. And incase anybody hasn't noticed, I can't come up with an original name if my life depended on it.

These comments are in no way an attempt to insult you guys. They're meant to be constructive criticism. And by all means, if you guys feel other people (including me) need improvement, please speak up. We can't get better if everybody thinks everything is perfect the way it is.

2.) People who aren't new to RPing. Every new member who RPs is also new to it. There are some new members who are experienced, but alot of people are new or just don't seem to understand things. We need people to take the time it takes to learn how to do things. And we can't keep letting them get away with not learning these things.

 

I always like the mysterious archetype. But the whole powerful thing never seems to matter.

Which brings me to another point. Fighting and power.

We never have any good fights. And then when people do some superpowerful attack, the victim basically says that it barely effected them.

People will do some attack, then the target will either barely be effected, or dodge it. Summonerbrandon, it's happened to us before. It was a Naruto RP. I'd attack, and then you would always have your character dodge.

 

that really pisses me off to. there was only one time i was ok with it and that's because it was the final epic fight so everybody did a little god-mod but it still turned out great.

but doing that all the time in a regular fight scene is so annoying. people would god-mod thier character to dodge or come out unfazed and then you have to do the same just to keep it fair. i'm guilty of this myself, in fact i think its this that hurts so many RPs. its one of the hardest habits to break and it tends to be why a lot of RPs fail.

 

I know about Ultimecia replacing every 'c' with a 'k'. That isn't what I was talking about. It is just the grammar and the yelling. Ultimecia didn't yell too much in FFVIII.

And the hair cutting thing, people just find it annoying and so very unrealistic.

I'm not talking about characters that look similar to actual video game characters like what you're talking about in Psychic Academy (Hell, one of my characters looks alot like Squall). What I mean by similar characters is that there is no originality. People make characters who are similar. Nobody really tries to work off a different type of personality. And when they do try, they overtry and end up screwing it up in one way or another.

 

The yelling, I can understand. I don't know much about Ultimecia since we only see her a little bit in FFVIII ending & then there's FF Dissidia, which I don't know much about her. Still, if you don't like her yelling, just let me know & I can cut it out some more. Also, about the personality, that I understand. I always do that with the characters that I make & it's actually real easy. I think rp's like another video game or a movie in my mind & I can see it real easy, which makes me be able to make the character to be real good. Still, people should think about what personality the character is & makes sure that it'll work. Just like Kairi for KH. I have to be real careful for rp'ing her while rp'ing with the other characters. I need to make sure that she's able to have the will to fight just like in KH2. Then there's Psychic Academy. Having Yuna act like a different character in modern Japan & make her do a lot of different things than her FF virtual self, I need to cut all ties with FFX-2 & FFX no matter what.

Seeing as how we all need a new and appealing RP, why not get the whole forum in on making one?

Us in the BoCB are doing it? Why can't the rest of you?

 

Because.

Not every RPer will want to support it.

So many people will want to be in charge.

Many people are attention whores, so they'll want to be the main character.

And I'm sure the list goes on.

 

Long I know but worth it. This guide is meant to help people w/ their RPing abilities but a few things here will not go with the style of RP we do here. Took a few things out that don't pertain to the RPs and people here.

 

I too think we need alot more originality in our rp's truly fantastic ideas that just spring up. plenty of action as well. the quicker the action starts the less rp'rs sart to think it's a dreadfully boring rp. at least that little bit would apply to rp's hat actually have fighting in them. i have seen some not many but some rp's that are based off of living life rather than fantasy action.

I think rp characters should become more original and better played as well. i have this problem. Constantly using the same rp characters. it gets boring after awhile and then people tend to think your not creative. Also i have noticed and done this myself quite alot, that rp'rs will give their character a personality and the way they type their paragraphs, the characters personality doesn't match up with the profile.

 

??? There's something that I want to point out. Rp'ing as yourself. Enter the KH-3.net & the Our Final Fantasy: The Final Fantasy of Earth, those are the only two rp's that I know where we had rp as ourselves. In other words, don't rp as ourself in a rp unless it's involve with real time & that we can rp as ourselves.

There's something that I want to point out about being captain. When I use Ultimecia, I use ehr to show her that she's power-hungry for ruling over the timeline, but not to the extent of having her to be over Master Xehanort in the Video Game Wars. I have her fall in love with Master Xehanort & make sure that she's not the star of the Video Game Wars. Every single rp character is the star, but the main character(s) will be the one who will be important. Momo should be included too. I have her try to protect Jamie as much as possible, but then have her to the extent of wanting to be with the others, wanting to see that everyone is alright, & even go to the extent of wanting to sacrifice herself or try to die in order to make sure that everyone is alright, but not to have her steal the show. In my sequel rp, KH3: A Forgotten Mist, SummonerDeshegato is important, but I don't always want to roleplay as him in every single post. I want to leave him alone & want to show the other importances of the other characters like Xarlian & the connection between her, Zero, & Xenro maybe. Still, I don't want to have them to always steal the spotlight. It wouldn't feel right, it's unprofessional, & it makes rp'ers not to rp in that type of rp.

Now, it doesn't matter whatever rp you're in, canon or original, adventure/action, romance or sci-fi, all of us needs to have a limit on our character. Sometimes, it will revolves in our character to either die or fall into a coma for the rest of the rp. I wasn't a good rp'er because I didn't know how to have my character to act when I first joined this site & started roleplaying & having troubles in January & February. I think we should do research on our character & how they act. Speaking of acting:

Multiple personalities. I don't understand anything about that part. If that character is suppose to be power-hungry, grim, cruel, & wretched, then that's the character. That person don't just have that one personality. Their personality describes that character.

Now that it is over with, I think that romance is kind of good, but there will be people who will like to add a curseword in a rp. My rp, KH3 have cursewords here & there, but there should be more rp ratings so everyone should know that that rp is for that use only. My rp is for 13 & up & I wanted to make sure that there won't be too much confusion or any of the sorts. Romance is one of them. Sora & Kairi in love & cares about each other. That's great. -____- But don't go & make them have sex & make them produce a lot of kids like Our Final Fantasy: The Final Fantasy of Earth. EEEW! Too nasty & guests reading these rp's will look the other way if their favorite game is changed into a sexual bombardment.

This is from another site. Their entire site is basically based around RPing one specific theme. They have a system to make things flow. They've had problems with characters that were based heavily on the actual people and it only downed their RP. Don't take it too seriously

See above response to answer part of this. I post that list to help other people with RPing. If you don't do that stuff, great, but still take some tips from it.

They're saying to be creative and give your character faults. On the multiple personality thing; again they've had a lot of people making characters with more than one persona in their head. It was unoriginal and boring to read about. If you want your character to have D.I.D. go a head and give it to them, but to them it was unoriginal. Unless you can make it interesting.

Brandon, that was a bit of an over dramatic post. I left that in there because of this:

I can write a pretty gory scene, but that doesn't make it fun. It doesn't say how awesome my writing skills are. It would just be me trying to show off. Unless you know it was a murder scene. Then it'd be a bit more appropriate.

Yeah. . . I tend to take a side role in RP's often (I can't run an RP worth crap. . . Hope would know about this from the second incarnation of my Twilight Dawn - damned fusion), and my characters tend to get their asses kicked alot. Look at Symm! I also have a need to personalize most of my characters - meaning that I like variety in my designs - of course, if I make 20 different characters, odds are one has similar characteristics somewhere. . . Any chance DW will rate my style? (Other than my lack of long posts?)
