Welcome to KHPlanet RP Arena, here warriors fight to the finish where one shall emerge in victory!

The RP Arena is not connected to the rest of the RP Area, it is, in its own way, different. The RP Arena is an area where you, a challenger, can create a thread to challenge somebody else for a battle.

Rules-
Just like everywhere else there are rules which must be followed...

Basic Beginner KHPlanet Rules- A Challenger making the thread can choose to change it to Advance, but they must make it clear that, that particular RP Battle is Advance

Basic KHPlanet Rules

No Spamming

No Godmodding- Especially here. God-Modding is when a character is so powerful nothing can defeat them, that the character itself is so powerful that it's on the same level or past the level of godly powers.

No Powerplay- Another huge no-no. Powerplaying is when somebody takes control of another character that is not their own without permission. That just would not be fair for the other challenger.

***No Unstoppable Character- this is a new rule, I've seen it happen many times in RP's and here, too. An Unstoppable character falls slightly under God-Mod but nobody seems to take it into consideration, so here it is, its own rule. An unstoppable character is a character that gets hit with lets say a nuclear missle, and it does even fall down or gets a single scratch.

Follow through all Basic KHPlanet RP Arena Procedures (see below)

Try not to post OOC posts. RP Arena thread don't have OOC threads, however does not mean you can have an ooc post. If you're interested in joining a battle PM who created the battle thread because that means they're the one in charge

Those are the rules and they MUST BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES!

Basic Set Up and Procedures-

Now below is a basic set up and procedures for a battle to take place.

Basic Set Up-
The basic set up is quite simple, set up just how you would set up a normal RP OOC thread...

~Title/ Name of the Battle- Try to make it Unique, not something boring
~Background Check- A short paragraph or two explaining why the battle is happening, or an introduction to the battle
~Battlefield- A paragraph or two MUST be dedicated to explain the battlefield where the fight will be happening at. You can create your own or an example located below.
~Rules- A simple "Basic KHPlanet RP Arena Rules" will work, if you, the creator/challenger have something else to add, do it now instead of later in the battle which arguing will break out because you're adding it because you're losing, whatever, also state if it's a private battle here (besides just the title)
~Who's In/Who's Being Challenged- Self explanatory I hope
~Set up Template/ Links to Character Profiles- Self Explanatory. Set up a template for open battles, if close battle(private) post links to Character Profiles on which characters are fighting
~Your character

Procedures-
Now some of the procedures to follow...

If the battle is open, you can't start the battle until 24 hours after the thread is made

In the first 24 hours of an open battle, all templates or any question can be asked, after that all ooc posts must be with an ic post

If an open battle is already started, anybody interested in joining must message the creator of the battle to get an ok, then you post a template WITH and IC character intro post in the battle.

All details must be evaluated carefully.

All details of a template must be set up and ready to go before a battle can just start.

It's up to the creator to check templates and assure nothing is wrong, not mods. If a problem occurs later on in the battle then mods will step in, however if whatever that problem is, is indeed mentioned in the character sign up, it will be ok to move on.

^ if there's god-mod issues suspected with a battle creator template, other members should inform RP mods(make sure it is a RP mod), after that see last point

Judging-

Now I'm not stressing this as much because RP mods will probably still be judging battles by doing the typical periodical check in. So here is, judging.

Judging will be done mainly by the RP Battle creator, however, if there's problems, and those problems get reported via "report post" or message RP mod(make sure RP mod), the RP mod will judge the battle.

Now that the main parts are taken care of, you can start battling. Remember to follow everything listed above.

KH Planet Roleplay Arena – Housekeeping Thread

*Please, do not discuss the following information on this thread. If you feel something is off with anything within this post, please direct it to either my profile, or anyone else who sees fit to take on the fielding of comments and questions. This guide will be subject to change and expansion on the basis of observations of Arena events, and contributions from members that are seen fit to include.*
Greetings fellow roleplayers! If you’re viewing this section, it probably means that you have a pungent for battling it out with words, and proving your skills against other roleplayers on the forums. You might think you’re ready to engage in combat with your friends and rivals alike, but first, there are some bases that need to be covered. As a strictly competitive form of roleplaying, Arena battles must follow the rules more closely than straight RPs. Most of this information is likely to be recap, but even a review is better than nothing.

The Rules

No Godmoding. Your character is not an invincible force of power; they are fallible, and on no account flawless. Every character, every ability, has a weak point that can be exposed. To create a character that is, or otherwise play a character as though they are, invincible and infallible, shall be strictly prohibited. In short, a character that is inexplicitly capable of surviving everything thrown at them, while being capable of throwing destructive moves around with little sweat. In addition, no character should be able to out strip the limits of plausible reality.

No Powerplaying. Your character, and your character alone, is yours to play; don’t play a character that is being played exclusively by another player. While sometimes allowed in your standard roleplay, in battling, powerplaying is not allowed under any circumstances. It may vary from person to person, but it is universally unacceptable to write out the actions of another’s character. Also prohibited is “force hitting,” or writing out an attack, AND the resulting damage as an outright success. ALWAYS give your opponent the chance to evade, or defend against an attack.

Include Everything. When creating your character sheet, it is expected that you put in all necessary information for the battle at hand. Unless otherwise agreed upon by all parties involved, there are to be no “secret powers” (powers that were omitted from the characters sheet(s), and hence, were not made known to all parties involved. The same should be applied to weapons and armor, and, for best purposes, appearance and history. If there is something that you wish to add to your character sheet after they have been presented, they must be added prior to your intro post into the battle, and with the consent of all other parties.

Limit NPC Involvement. NPCs, or non-player characters, are those characters that, while played exclusively by one person, do not represent that person in a battle thread. If the battle is meant to be one character per player, and you decide to have an NPC hanging around, then you should obligate yourself to moderating what you do with said NPC, in order to prevent the scales being unfairly tipped. An NPC’s moves must be left ambiguous, allowing the targeted player(s) to determine where, and how bad (if at all) the move hit their character. Force hits may be made on NPCs, but they may not be killed off without permission from the person playing them.

Food For Thought

So we’ve got the rules knocked out of the way, but now, how do we plan on making sure that we’re well in line? Even the most trivial of things can provide the Arena community the fair atmosphere we seek. Here are a few things that will ultimately knock off some of the rule breaking issues.

Set Conditions. When making a battle thread, be sure to make it known what manner of battle you wish to have. Define levels of power, what sorts of weapons you’d prefer, and any other limitations or conditions that might restrict characters that might not otherwise be obvious. Doing this will allow your opponent(s) to create a character that is both effective to the battle, and legal for use by any desired standards.

Detail. It might seem like the characters with elaborately explained powers, weapons, and/or equipment are “too much,” and over-powered.” This isn’t always the case. RPing, especially battling, thrives best on detail. Simply, the more detail, and thought one puts into their character, the fairer said character will be. Detail put into the combat specifications (i.e. powers, weapons, and equipment), lends itself to the provision of the widely asked for “weakness” in the character; simply, the details elaborate enough for the opponent to figure a way around things as it is, as well as bind the character itself to the established mechanics outlined. All in all, this level of thought put into the character makes any battle more fluid, and should prevent most rule breaking.

Remember. “Logical & Realistic.” Whether it pertains to your character’s weapon, their armor/clothing, or their powers even, logic and realism is the keystone to any play-by-post battle. The equipment and abilities of a character must be realistic, and must be logically explained, both in IC posts by move, and in within the character sheet.

Character Deaths

Despite it being against the rules to force consequences upon another person’s character, you will, inevitably, find your characters on death’s doorstep from time to time. Don’t fret though, if you must force yourself to forfeit a character. Unless otherwise established, character deaths do not carry over into the events of new threads. Hence, a character that dies in a ‘non-continuum’ thread can be reused in another thread.

Tournament Ruling

From time to time, people may see fit to instigate tournaments within The Arena. Tournaments are required to adhere to the primary rule of the arena, namely the rules against powerplaying and godmoding. However, further standards are left to the discretion of the tournaments manager(s). A tournament that does not make any specific alteration of a rule or guideline must, by default, adhere to them as presented on this thread.

General Etiquette

No Peanut Gallery. Perhaps you’ve bee reading a thread that’s been seeing a lot of action. Unless you have anything worth saying to the RPers, such as a judging critique, then HOLD YOUR TONGUE. If you’re not a part of a battle, and only plan on making some comment on how amazing or ridiculous it is, then you’re best off not saying anything at. If you must criticize someone, make it constructive, so as to promote improvement and understanding, rather than arguments.

Judges

These are those people who not only decide who wins and who loses, but also, whether a specific strand of moves taken by player(s) is legal according to the guidelines of battle.

Judges for battles aren’t an absolute necessity, save for in tournament settings, and cases in which an obvious stalemated dispute has arisen amongst RPers in a battle. Judges can be pulled from the RPing community, or a judge can give their input in situations that call for it. Anyone can be a judge, but it’s best to first have permission from the RPers, save for the most crucial of instances in which a judge is clearly needed to settle things. As a judge, one must be fair, and impartial in their assessment of situations.

Example Premade Battle Fields...

Beta Arena-

In the multi-versally famous Beta Arena, a jungle-gymlike structure appeared. It had a central 'cube' composed of eight smaller boxes (each measuring 10'-10'-10'); Then, each box outside that initial center area was 5'-5'-5'. The bars, 1 1/2 inches in diameter, are incapable of being broken by any means, non-conducive, and well insulated against temperature changes. The arena has a special field around it - a portal system, in fact. 30 feet from the main cube, the system activates (Unseen, it's just like travelling normally) that sends the traveler to the side opposite the one they had left. Fifty feet above the initial cube, a loop activates, sending the user back twenty. The sun shines precisely above the center bar of the whole structure.

(Center -> go fifty feet up, you get sent back to the bottom of the cubes twenty feet down. Same principle applies to the sides, but you get sent to the cubes of the opposite sides. The portal system only works for living beings and things currently attatched to their bodies, so energy attacks, throwing items, and the like just fly through the portal and out of the arena.)

Champion's Stadium-

Within a realm of the Omniverse that goes with no name, this massive construct seems to stand all on its own, with no corporal world to support it. The main battle field, located within the center of the stadium, is made from a fibrous material, or something similar to the AstroTurf used in some football fields, and is also roughly the same size. Underneath the soft turf field rests a floor, scattered with several trap doors into storage rooms beneath CS. When the turf is removed, and access to these rooms is gained, the battlefield can be refit with new artificial terrain, and obstacles. Lining the area along the outside edge of the battlefield is a force forged of an unknown magic, which, once touched, begins to deconstruct the material that enters it. A warrior who enters this space will have their power sapped clear from them as their existence is steadily diminished. They can escape, but recovery of their energy reserves would be needed before any innate abilities could be used again.

The stadium beyond the battlefield is a bit larger than the Cowboy's Stadium in Texas, housing over 80,000 anxious spectators. The material, and architecture of the venue is more Romanized, harking to the Colossus, or the Coliseum The audience for each battle is protected by a force similar to the outer boarder of the battlefield. Any attacks that go stray into it, automatically become negated, and broken apart. The entire stadium is an outdoor setup. But that doesn't seem to matter, since within this plane of existence, weather patterns never produce precipitation. In fact, the climate seems to disallow any adverse effects on the area. So, most likely, there is some force of sorcery afoot around the stadium itself.

An anti-gravity chamber. The chamber is a large sphere five miles in diameter. The chamber has neon red designs glowing on the walls to provide light to the combatents. Within the sphere, gravity is non-existent. Everything floats and flies around. Nothing is inside the chamber except the combatents and whatever weapons or items they have. The sphere itself is indestructable.

Dark Field-

A world of darkness. One of which all comforts of light and heat are void of. The only thing that exists within the space is are massive stone pillars and other earthen debris. There appears to be no ground for a person to stand on, and yet no matter what position a person finds themselves in they can always have traction. If they believe. Otherwise they are left floating with absolutely no way to move.

Regardless of light source a person can always see - so long as nothing is obstructing their view (i.g. a blind-fold). The range of their sight is not enhanced in any way while in this space, unless stated otherwise by a person (i.g. spell enhancements). Because this place has no heat a person must keep their own bodies warm, else be placed into a deep sleep close to death.

Within this world only the physically fit are king, as this universe sustains itself by draining any magic within or surrounding it.

Phantasmal creatures are seen now and again wondering aimlessly through the space. While these creatures all range from large to small, and vicious to docile, they are completely unaware of the events going on between fighters and are unable to interfere whatsoever.

A large crevase about a foot ball field in diamete with about a hundered pillars rising from the depths. The pillars occasionally break when to much weight is put on them, and they can be easily broken by attacks. To fall means certain death.

Dungeon Clash-

This battle site is located within the depths of a confined, underground dungeon area. The only light which shines down at such depths is given off by numerous torches that line the walls, and some hanging as lanterns from the ceiling. But the dungeons themselves aren't accessible to the combatants. The characters are confined within a single cell, fifteen feet from front to back, and thirty feet from one side to the next. Both he front and back of the cell are barred off from the rest of the dungeon, and the characters start at their own end of the thirty foot space. They are both bound by a set of chains gripping their wrists and ankles, which both extend roughly twenty feet out. These chains are unbreakable, period, as are the bars to the cells, and the chains cannot be pulled out from the walls.
