Time for a Change

I'm not sure where to post this exactly...It's not quite a 'hello' and thus doesn't fit here...but it shouldn't go in General or any other section either...so here it is.

I've been tailing these forums for the past 6 years. What started out as "Square-enix-forums.com" morphed into "Finalfantasy.net" and then into KH-3.net, under previous ownership. The previous owners needed a change, and sold the site to TradeDemon, who is doing a very nice job running this place...it's doing much better than SEF and FF.net are!

But a lot has changed in my life...I'm not a teenager anymore, and thus my interests differ greatly...Not to mention, modern teenagers, believe it or not, have vastly different interests from those even 6 years ago! It's uncanny how fast times change.

I've gone through that rebellious 'I don't care about things' stage, before the death of my father which set me straight. I then focused on school, family, love, and making wise decisions regarding these things...this skill is something almost exclusively, every teenager has yet to learn. I learned them however...so I have no right to think of myself as a teenager (or anything close) anymore. My morals and gentle nature make me a bit of an easy target, in the real world and on the internet...so it's no surprise that people insinuate that I'm a pedophile, and yet I'm still starting to get particularly annoyed by all of the questions regarding my age and rude comments about me being an old man...You may not realize some of the things you say are actually rude...but such foresight comes with age.

On a related note, since I'm writing that I'm leaving anyway, I have no reason to withhold my age anymore...since I don't need to worry about friends. I'm 22 years old. Did you think I was older? Perhaps I speak and act a bit older than that.

And that's why it's easy to see that I have very little common ground with the typical KH-3.net member these days. It's almost ironic that some of the people I'd consider my closest friends on here turn out to be the youngest such members...so I wanna give a couple shoutouts to people who I've grown fond of in my time here (who have not left yet).

One area in which I participated a lot was the arcade...And so, my first shoutout goes to The Arcade Crew...everyone in there is awesome, and whenever I see you guys posting, I expect good things...and I'm rarely disappointed.

Then there are the debaters...the regulars with whom I shared the best times I've had on this forum. I feel like I intimidated a lot of people...but wrongfully so. I've learned a lot from you guys, and I hope you've learned even a small fraction from me, as I've learned from you.

I wanted to make one special shoutout...a little confidence booster (I hope).

Chocobo_Dyl: I was also delighted to see you participate...despite you being one of the youngest guys here, you would honestly be in my top 3 choices to hang out and play some video games with...you're about the age of my younger brother. Make sure you don't let people walk all over you for being young, because you've honestly earned my respect better than most members.

As usual, I probably lack the discipline to leave here entirely...I mean this is like the 4th time I've tried to leave...but this time I have a specific problem, and I think the longer I stay here, the more severe these problems will become. So I should certainly take steps to delete my internet presence from peoples' memories, little by little.



It was nice knowing everyone...I hope I've had a positive impact on you.

 

@Yukou: I had you specifically in mind when I typed up this post. We haven't talked as much lately since we've both been so busy with schooling and such.

I hope that's going well for you...remember that 'Time Management' skills are probably the most important skill to be learned in University. They set you apart both in academia, and when it comes time to go out and work. (My time management skills suck xD)

@Reisen: I explained my reasons in the post...I'm too different from the typical member here, and people fixate on my age a bit too much now. It gets cumbersome.

@LDC: Haha...really? I think the way I differ from lots of people my age is self reflection. I'm one of those people who can't sleep at night because he's plagued with, for instance, thoughts of the conversations I've had that day. "Oh man, I should have said this instead!"

It translates into good and bad properties...the bad, I doubt myself and I'm very critical and hard on myself...the good, well, I seem more mature. Haha. (I'm actually ridiculously immature xD with voice impersonations and the like. It's a bit tough to show on the net)

 

Hmm...I don't actually use AIM haha...do you have MSN by any chance? (I could get AIM if you don't)

Judging from this, I've overstayed my welcome. At least I've thought of a failsafe method of leaving: I'll change my password to gibberish.

So I guess I'll give the people what they want and just go....because I'm being such 'and fool.'
