So what is your opinion of the education system in America? Do you like it or hate it? What flaws does our education system have?

    Let's debate.

Let me begin with my opnion. Personally I believe the whole education system is horribly flawed and is giving American kids a disadvantage.

But before I go into why I believe the education system is flawed, I want to hear some of your opinions.

I think the amount of suckiness partly depends on where in the US you attend school. The schools here in Kentucky are damn ignorant. They close for like no damn reason, and it seems like pretty much all my sister (in high school) does is watch movies or go on field trips. The younger kids I am around do not seem on level as far as math and reading skills. But schools up north seem like they have more of a handle on the situation.

    To answer your questions...

Do I like the education system or hate it? Well, I always enjoyed school when I was younger. I've never been educated anywhere else, so I have no idea if I'd prefer a different system. But I'm sure our system could be improved on.

Some flaws? I think American schools are way too focused on passing benchmarks and rating their schools/kids. Teachers spend all their time teaching to some stupid test so that the kids will pass and the schools will earn money. It cuts out a lot of subjects (like science, or music, art, etc) that could interest a lot of people, because the teachers have to waste all their time on test prep, and those subjects aren't covered during the test. I also think schools spend money foolishly. For instance, the second grade son of a friend of mine does not have a reading book of his own. His entire class has to share with the class next door- for the first half of the year, his class uses copied handouts, the second half of the year they get the actual books. This is even more ridiculous since the school district here actually charges a yearly registration fee for each child. What the hell are they using the money for, if they aren't supplying kids with books? Probably, they're buying sports equipment for the high school teams, or paying to tote the football team across the state. <_<

That's enough of my Nyquil-induced rambling for now. Hopefully it makes some sort of sense. >_<

-____- you don't even want to know about education here where I live. I'm doing great in my schools & taking advanced classes, but there are those who be in the regular classes or is in the, let's say "Slow classes" instead who gets more attention & those who only be getting nothing but D's, C's, or lower gets more rewards than those in the advance & as uif they are smarter than the students who is taking higher math classes & that's not even fair. The rest, I'll just keep to myself.

There are some major problems with the education system.

    1. They base the lessons around testing. They only focus on getting you to past a test.
    2. They are trying to become the parent by teaching kids about sex and by forcing liberal ideas onto children.
    3. They don't give students the proper communication skills to use in the workplace.
    4. They are too focused on money than they are on teaching.

There are other problems to but I will begin by adressing these 4.

    1. Schools were created to prepare a child to become a productive member of society and give he/she the tools to do so. Schools were not created to teach based on testing. If schools continue to teach based on testing then we will keep failing to give our children the stuff they really needs as adults to succeed and that is what will really hurt our country.

    2. Look the schools only objective should be to teach children what they need to know to get a job and be succesful. They have no right and no place to teach children about sex or anything like that. Teaching children about sex is supposed to be the job of the parent not the school system. The parents have rights too and the right to teach their children about sex and such should be left only to the parent.

They also need to stop this whole social stuff they try to teach kids. I mean they try to tell us to be tolerate of gays, aethiest, or anyone else we don't like. If I want to pray in school I have every right to do so. If I don't want to sit with the gay kid or sit with an aethiest then I have every right to do so. My social learning and my morality comes from my God and my bible. If my bible says not to fellowship with gays or aethiest then I am not going to fellowship with them, I will help them if they need it or try to lead them to Christ but I am not suppose to fellowship with people like that.

Schools need to stop trying to be the parent.

    3. When we get a job we need to know how to interact with people at work. School does not do a very good job of this because they only focus on testing. Schools need to allow kids to be with friends and to eat with friends at lunch ect. Instead they constantly want to keep you in a class room and that is just not how real life jobs are. Adults get to eat with friends, socialize with friends, ect. The schools should do the same to allow children to develop the social skills neccessary to be with people in the work force.

    4. Honestly greed is consuming the education system. I understand everyone needs money but they are sacrificing the benefits of students for money. But this can go both ways too. Inner city schools do need money, I think it's important that we find a way to give more money to schools who need it. Of course I do not want this money to come from the government, the money needs to come from the community that way to schools are controlled by the community and not the government.

So there are just 4 of the problems I have with school.
