The Poseidon, a Daedalus classed vessel under the command of Major Colonel Mack Rosso, sat in a nebula and waited. It was an impressive vessel bristling with guns and beam emitters, and it simply sat as if in wait. A predator waiting to pounce. The pink gas cloud obscured it from view and small thrusters kept it in that cloud.

"Status report," Mack called and waited for a reply that he was expecting.

A crewman on the sensor stations replied without looking up, "Still nothing on short range sensors sir."

The nebula cloud that obscured the Poseidon from view also blocked her long range sensors. An enemy would have to practically run into them in order to find them and it was the same for the Poseidon.

"Could someone remind who's idea it was to sit in the middle of this cloud?"

"That was me sir," the helmsman replied stiffly. "I thought we would be able to spring a trap."

"Don't get me wrong air man, it was a good plan. The only problem is that if our probes don't see them we won't last long in a fight. Its a risky business." They couldn't even turn on their shields or the gas cloud would burst apart and give them away.

All the sudden the sensor officer shouted, "Contact. Large unidentified vessel approaching, heading 181 by 003."

Almost directly behind us! We've been facing the wrong way. "Helm, bring us about and take us out of this cloud. Charge weapons and shields and open a transmission."

The communications officer nodded to his commander just as a voice demanded, "Who are you and why are you stalking my ship."

"This is Major Colonel Rosso, United States Air Force commanding the battle ship Poseidon. Heave to and state your intentions in this region."

"No, we don't answer to you or this air force of yours."

Rosso tried to keep a growl from his voice when he retorted, "You do when you are in our air space."

The ship Rosso commanded sat just twenty light years outside of Earths solar system. They had recieved a communication about a smuggler attempting to bring alien devices to the solar system. The narcotic kind. Since Sg-1 had run into something similar and suffered near fatal results, the Poseidon had been dispatched to intercept. They'd found out the ship they faced could be formidable and so had tried to get the drop on them. Instead the enemy had almost gotten the drop on them.

    "Again, state your intentions."

"Die, Tauri." A new voice crackled and then the communication cut.

    "They are charging weapons sir."

"Fire forward rail guns, and take us on a evasive course."

    "Aye sir," both crewman replied.

The Poseidon released a blistering volley of bolts on the unsuspecting enemy. It was a goauld mother ship, no surprise since their were plenty left over from the old regime. This one must have been under the command of a goauld, judging from the response Rosso had gotten from them. Narcotic or not, their cargo couldn't be beneficial.

The enemy ships shields flared as it sustained multiple impacts, and released its own volley.

The bridge rocked and damage reports began coming in. Very little to no damage, no surprise given the state the enemy vessel was probably in. Few existed outside the Free Jaffa alliance that could actually take care of the things properly.

"Only four out of eight guns responded to us sir. Suspect the other four are out of commission."

"Strafe their shields and then focus one of our beams on the port side of their ship."

The Poseidon stopped evading. The opposing vessel at full strength might have been a worthy adversary, but in its sad state it wouldn't even make the Poseidon flinch. The earth ship launched another volley, raking the port side of the enemy and then slammed the ship with a beam. Only two guns responded and they were low power shots. A few more hits and the enemy sat disabled.

"They have life support sir, but only just," the sensor station replied to Rosso's wordless question.

"What a sad state this universe is in. We have no real work to do anymore. Hail them again."

"You Tauri bastards," A voice snarled.

"You made the aggressive move my unknown friend. If you would like we can tow you out of the system. I hear some people on Altair are just dying to meet you."

"Blasphemous filth. Low born slave sc-" The voice cut out mid rant.

"Sorry sir, but I didn't think you wanted to hear that."

"Its quite alright," Rosso was smiling as was the rest of the bridge crew. "Quite alright."

Another new ship, the Panzer, germany's first ship, had towed the enemy cruiser, the Maclah if Rosso remembered correctly, out of the solar systems edge. Rosso sat in his captains quarters throwing a basket ball at the wall out of sheer boredom. In truth no ship in those days could match anyone in the galaxy. All the evil big players vanished with the wraith. He wished he was in the bad ol days, with the Goauld and Ori breathing down their collective necks. He would have enjoyed leading his ship into a massive battle, barking orders at light speed and trying desperately to just stay alive. Now here he sat, leading a massive war ship with no real enemy to point it at. Just slavers, black marketeers, and the occasional Goauld remnant with something to prove. Little did Rosso know he was going to get his wish, and it would be very ugly.

    >A little something to alude to that rp that failed out in the rp section. Might get people to join in. The Poseidon won't play an active roll in the conflict but I'll still document their troubles for you all if you want.<
