    Ventus Kickass Keyblader!

Heartless King and I have been discussing about the state of the roleplaying forum compared from now to 1 year ago. Here's the things we have noticed. What other things should we improve upon?

    1) Characters and events are bland. Nothing wants you to keep going like in New Dawn or in the New Organization. Here's an example. In New Organization, Demon's character took my character's shirt off and he was starting to get worried and then Demon's character said that it was an initiation for becoming immortal. This keeps people wanting to write. WE NEED TO BE MORE DARING!

    2) Some roleplays are too complex

    3) This is a problem that I possess but I will address this. Successful roleplays have had a basic storyline to keep in mind. A beginning, the turning point and the ending is needed to be planned.

    4) People have not replied as often as they did before.

    5) Lastly, rps nowadays do not feel fun. It only feels like work.

There's also the fact that people don't always follow the rules as much as they used to, but back then it wasn't all that great either. XD

I really think that Roleplaying was at it's best back then and it still should be but it isn't. Things really need to change

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

there also aren't as many unique great ideas. the best ones recently have come from Dawn but because of her camp and stuff, she can't be on as much to keep them going. the rest of the ones around right now feel like they've been done before, or aren't that interesting. we need something new that will capture the attention of the entire RP community on the site.

Not following the rules as much as they used to, KoD? That is the sort of thing you need to bring to my attention. I'm not god, so I can't be everywher at once, not should I have to babysit you guys.

And the Arena would be that 'thing' you're talking about, Shadow, but I haven't had the chance to collab with Zhy, whatever he he is doing for it.

not really. the arena is fun and all but RPs are best when they have a good story and plot to go with it. the arena doesn't have that.

    That, sir, is an opinion.

That is what you said. The arena will be "New" once the ground rules are laid down, therefore it is a perfect candidate. I implore you to find a better idea.

Sora first off, for you example, very bad example. But to keep on writing is a matter of plot twists as well.

Ok so nothing like that's going to change the entire RP, but something small such as surprising the feelings from another character. Mess with the characters emotions.

The biggest, biggest thing that really needs to be done is people need to get into their character, they need to sort of be their character, think like their character, that sort of thing. I do that for pratically every RP and apparently it must work for all the complements I get.

Next off are the rules, which a lot of the people breaking the rules are the new members who have no idea what they're doing and as Reguiem said, he can't be everywhere, before when I was mod and the rules weren't as bad, I was also an active person, more active than I am now(especially with these few weeks of camp and stuff) so I did catch everything because I was active so I was in every single RP follow all exact details and stuff. Depending on if I stay through the school year(it's up in the air) I will be trying to lend Reguiem a hand on this, this does not mean the rest of you don't need to let it slide by, talk to the people, teach them how to RP. Don't think members can't do that, I taught like 4 people before I was ever hired by staff 2 years ago to learn how to RP.

Sora's got a point with his exampe, Star. The example story he's talking about was a pretty awkward scene for me to read in New Organization but its probably the most successful RP KHP has ever seen which is surprising to me because half of us were newbies and didnt know what we were doing. But you think about it, its been a year since that RP had its last post and its still on the most viewed and most posted in list of the entire forum (being the top of most posted). It deffinately had its problems, most of which being that it had so many members who wanted to join it that the story got too complex and we would have to cut people a few times. My point isn it had a strong beginning, an interesting (though in my opinion far too long) story, and everyone was active until the very end. Funny thing is, in that RP, no one was trying to out-write everyone else like Ive seen happening alot lately (given we got too lazy and it did get its fair share of spam as I again say that was way before the rules and most of us were new at it). Fact is, no one cares how long and complicated you can make your post but they do care if you make it small and meaningless. There are quite a few pots I see lately that just go on forever about nothing and I think its so that you can find something to write about to keep up with the rule about how long a post needs to go. Frick people, its just an RP dont get so worked up and stressed out and just make a post and tell a story relevant to the stories of those around you and the plot given to you by the RP author. I can garuntee you, you'll have more fun roleplaying when you stop looking at it as a test or something and just be creative. Follow the rules, be active, be creative. Think outside the box but let your author know what your thinking so people dont get confused and just stop posting. The rules are set to help you not make you feel like you HAVE to try to outplay everyone and make super long posts that dont make any sense. I think Ive repeated myself here like three times so Ill move on.

If you want the RP section to be restored to its former glory or surpas it it shouldnt be too difficult.
-Consult the RP mods. Thats what they are there for. Contact them for help or advice, inform them of people rule breaking in your RPs. I promise Requium doesnt bite very hard.
-Be bold. Think outside the box and stop with the constant Kingdom Hearts knock offs. They are fun every once in a while but I would say about 90% of the roleplays here are that alone. I want to hear what story you can make up out of your own head, see what characters I can create without keyblades every once in a while. This is a Kingdom Hearts forum but Im sure that doesnt mean keyblades and heartless are all its members can think about.
-Calm the Heck Down. You dont have to be perfect and no one is expecting you to write a novel of a post every time especially if your still new to it. Dont do spam posts such as:
Yeah I exagerated an example of spamming a little but you get my point. Keep it intelligent I know its possible to write above six sentences without getting off topic or getting bored. But dont feel like you have to outplay the person who posted before you either. Your just going to get frustrated over something you shouldnt.
-Follow the Rules and Have fun. Im starting to think this is the KHP mod national anthem. Every one of us has said it at least once. Take it to heart.
-Help eachother out. Dawn already mentioned it once so I wont go into detail. Dont get all ticked off when a newbie roleplayer joins your RP. Give helpful crititiques and try to teach instead of get mad and kick them out or whatever. Be an artist not a crybaby. ;)

Kay I cant write anything else because I have to run off to disappear for another few days. My main point here is there shouldnt be any problem here. You all consider yourselves writers right? Well then Prove it. There shouldnt be a problem about lame, dry, overused, or spammy roleplay plots or posts if your using the rules, the mods, your own creativity, and the plots given to you to your advantage.

When I first came here roleplaying was sooo much better. Now I feel like it's a chore. It's no fun, and it's just like im in school! I feel like there is sooo much pressure to give 6 line's because of the whole beginner rp section and advanced rp section. I don't want to make a rp a beginner one because im in it! Sometimes my post's just turn into rambling. I liked the old rp section much more!

Yeah i agree, me and Sora feel the exact same way, roleplaying just doesn't seem fun anymore. Seems more like a chore, as you said.

the problem i've seen lately is that people aren't as original with stories as they were, i have seen so many cliche story lines, Ect.

I agree completely, I am at fault there. I kind of just slop something down just to see how it goes. It takes me all of 20 minutes to make a RP. IDK if that is really bad but I think I need to work harder on it.
Also I have been thinking, would anybody be in for a petition against the changes of the RP section. I was for it at first but now I have seen it and just apsolutely hate it.

    ^^I rest My case.

Look, guys. Like I said No one is expecting you to be perfect. :) You dont have to feel like your doing 'A chore' just because you have to write six sentances. Six sentances is a no-brainer compared to what some other forums will require. Mention anything in your post. Your characters thoughts, feelings, actions, words, situation, there are so many details you could add in that would make it easier for someone to post after you. Dont write just to make six sentances. Write to get your point across exactly.
And if you cant then thats why the Beginner and Advanced sections are such a good idea. Put the RPs that you make there and you wont expect any of the 'advanced'(Roleplaying Rule Nazis in other words lol) to come in and tell you you are a terrible roleplayer because they know your a beginner and they wont bother you about it. This is a way for you to improve your writing its a great opportunity. Dont get me wrong by at all thinking Im saying anyone is a bad writer but there is room for improvement in everyone and if you cant think of six sentences to write its quite ok but it does tell the RP VETS and Mods that theres room for improvement around here. :) Its not an insult. LIke I said the rules are set to help you. Use them to your advantage. ;)

As Hope pointed out, the chore feeling of things can be avoided. As I also said, become part of your character, plus you really think about it, 6 lines isn't bad, I often find myself having to cut on things in my post to not make it so long. You can add simple things to your post such as characters thoughts, emotions, actions, and more.

As for those of you who pointed out wanting original RP's, may I also point out that there are plenty of original idea RP's, but none of you who want original stories never seen to join them or anything. That or you just let the RP die.

At Hope. It's not 6 sentences it's six lines. The minumum used to be 3, and it's sometimes hard for people, im not having tooo much trouble with it but still other people might.

I think 6 lines isn't that hard as Hope pointed out the things what you can write of. I usually have no problem on doing longer posts, as I start writing, there's sometimes no end to it. Just go with the flow.

First off, I want to say this: Six lines is the minimum for the ADVANCED section, so you can quit your bitching about it. Now it's time for me to do what I do best; namely, ripping people's throats apart.

"Cliche"? "CLICHE"? If you wanna bitch about "Cliche" Then you should face the facts: NONE OF THE RPS EVER DEVISED HERE ARE ORIGINAL. And while I normally don't support blanket statements like the following, I will use it to support my argument: "There are only seven stories in the world."
So quit your bitching about cliche. You just got used to these storylines and got bored.

20 minutes is pretty quick. If you want to make a beginner RP, that's pretty much okay. But if you're actually attempting to be advanced, you gotta put effort. Although, time does not always equal effort.

And what "Changes" could you POSSIBLY be bitching about now? The ones that give the advanced RP section rules? You are such a child, wanting to throw out something the first time it inconveniences you.

Thank you Hope a very good and valid point. However, I can and will insult you guys to get my point across. Maybe you'll listen this time.

And again, another good point. Listen to these two, folks. These girls know their shit!

I still can't believe everybody is making such a big deal of 6 fucking lines.

And I would quote my favorite RP guide if it weren't for the fact that the site for it is down. So I will end with this: It's not the story that counts, it's what you do with it.

I ain't making such a big deal about those six fucking lines, darling. I'm just saying that it's actually pretty easy to write even those 6 fucking lines, as you like to address it.

I don't actually understand while people think that 6 lines is such a big deal. In my opinion it's a good rule.
