Point of the Social Groups?

    This has just came to mind while I was strolling throughout the forum. I know that many of the social groups in the community link were made in relation to different topics, hobbies and the like, but do the social groups still hold any importance to the forums? Do we still want to keep it active or should we take it out?

    I don't think the social groups ever held any real importance to the forum. On a very active forum, I can see the reason behind having them, but with the current level of activity on this forum, I think it'd be better for us for people to just make a thread about whatever their hobby/interest is in whatever section most closely aligns with it, so we can get some new posts up in here.

    I don't know about taking the social groups out (they could be handy in the future, and who knows if you even can), but I don't think I'd want to promote them right now. That's just my opinion, though.

    Indeed. The point of social groups was mostly to have a private place to connect with people of similar interests, viewpoints, etc. on a more detailed level. Were we a booming forum, the social groups would probably be more active.

    But right now we don't need them. Frankly we should do the best we can to start posting more on the open forums; that much is the best most of us can do to help get this place back on track.
