Nicki Minaj and the VMAs

Okay, in case you're not caught up on the story! Nicki Minaj has been making tweets around July. About how her hit "Anaconda" wasn't nominated for (don't quote me on this) Best Video of the Year and how colored women aren't recognized in the music industry compared to other artist "white artists", so apparently, Taylor Swift made it about her (because one of Nicki's tweets could've been referring to Taylor but probably not) and she responded (I'm paraphrasing here)"how could you pit women against women", which has nothing to do with what Nicki was talking about. Anywho, Miley Cyprus the host of this year's VMAs was called out by Nicki Minaj while Nicki was accepting her awards calling Miley a bit** for talking about her in an interview. Note: Miley basically said in the interview that she didn't respect Nicki for attacking pop stars because she wasn't nominated.

It's really a mess and a whole lot of drama! But it sure was funny to watch!

Miley is a damn mess. Though i mean calling her out on national TV doesnt make it any better but you gotta do what you gotta do. personally i would have done the same, sometimes you just gotta check some folks no matter where you are.

I think Miley is pretty damn smart, actually. She's created this image that keeps her in the news and on everybody's minds, and she's laughing about it all the way to the bank. If all Miley said in the interview was that she didn't respect Nicki for acting butthurt because she didn't get nominated for an award, I agree with her. It's unprofessional behavior, as is calling Miley a bitch on national TV over it. But I suppose it's good for attention/ratings, which is probably why she did it. Hell, for all I know, this whole thing is a publicity stunt.

I haven't seen the VMAs, but I've ran across articles on this "feud" on various sites. My thoughts: 1) Anaconda is one of the most annoying songs I've heard in a while, and the video is certainly no great achievement, either. Nicki's lucky it was nominated for any awards at all, and should be grateful for what she has won. And...

I'm pretty sure the tweets were referring to Taylor. I don't know which of the other videos nominated she could have been referring to if she wasn't. Regardless...

    2) Taylor Swift is a hypocrite with her "pitting women against each other" comment, given that "Bad Blood" is apparently about some idiotic feud she has going on with Katy Perry and she's profiting like crazy from that song. Also...

    3) Everyone involved needs to just grow the hell up. It sure must be nice to have nothing serious to worry about, so that you have time to pick a bunch of immature fights with people over twitter of all things. Ah, to be a celebrity....

At least we know Kitty would handle being a celeb lol

@Vox, lol. I would absolutely hate the attention; being famous would be a nightmare to me. But that said, I think I would handle it better than some of these celebs, given that I know how to keep my mouth shut, and I would stay the hell off social media, which seems to bring out the idiot in everyone, and is constantly getting people, celebs or otherwise, in hot water over some insensitive statement or another.

Apparently Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift are besties again, so surprise!, this was all officially a big waste of time. I'm also not sure why Nicki Minaj was trying to play the race card. Out of the best video of the year nominees, only two were women, and half of them (Beyoncé) is a minority. Her comment would make slightly more sense if the nominees had been two white girls. But even if that were true, it doesn't change the fact that the song and video are both godawful. Maybe that's the reason the video didn't make the cut, hmm?

As far as the feud with Miley goes, this is what Miley actually said in the interview:
Coming from Miley, this is downright mature. And I don't really see what's offensive about it. If Nicki doesn't like it when people call her unkind, maybe she should show a little more kindness. Just a suggestion. Of course, with Miley knowing she'd be seeing Nicki at the awards, it might not have been the most prudent time to make such a comment if she didn't want to stand behind it. I think I hate that most of all- when a celebrity says something stupid, or un PC, and then backpedals when someone raises a stink about it. Stick up for your beliefs, geez!

One thing I do love about all this: Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars pointing out how idiotic this was by wanting to have their own twitter feud, as seen in this article here.

Those kinds of happenings are why I prefer to keep my finger away from the pop culture pulse. Too many characters about it that can't keep their composure; a lot of pride but relatively little dignity.

If I ever drifted in that direction as an artist, I'd want someone to pull the plug on me... or at least give me a good womping over the head.

^ I think it goes a long way if you have a strong support system, and especially, people willing to tell you NO. I think too many of these celebrities get caught up in the fame and feel like they can do whatever without consequences or thinking it through (like, for instance, that thing with Ariana Grande licking a donut in a restaurant and putting it back while spewing some anti-American BS on video) and no one tells them otherwise. But if you have people you can rely on to tell you when you're an idiot, who care about you and not just their paychecks, I think you're off to a good start.

Then again, some people just have class, and some don't. Neither Miley or Nicki, in my opinion, have much, if any.
