Jake watched as the sun rose over the treetops. He was sitting in a cave where he had decided to go after last nights rainstorm. Well, time to go I guess. Jake grabbed his sword and headed out down a worn foot path. He was on his way to Teyos but was still close to the Monos/Attrox barrier so he kept his guard up just in case. As he rounded a hill he noticed large quanities of smoke coming from a town. "What the?!" He looked closer and saw the town was burning. He quickly started running, hoping to save anybody left.

Dirk walked through the giant castle that was known as the Attrox capital. Dirk was going to the war room to meet Seth Daigun. Dirk thought to himself walking down the quiet halls of the castle, soon Attrox will rule the four nations, then we will go for the world. all will crumble in our mits Dirk soon walked into the war room and saw Seth Daigun. "My lord Daigun, I need the battle plans for conquering Monos."

Seth looked up from a map. "Ah, Dirk. I was just going over some of possible plans." He looked back down and began pointing at various points on the Attrox/Monos border. "We have some troops scattered about there border with orders to simply cause chaos. Now even with the minor distractions, the Monos army will be impossible to defeat in a head on fight. I've been thinking of other strategies for ways to move our army around thiers without them noticing. Its been proving quite difficult."

Dirk stepped over to the map, and started thinking with Daigun. Then it finally hit him. "My lord what about the old underground city? The underground city will lead us under their border and up in front of their capital. It is infested with monsters, but nothing our troops can't handle. and even if we don't go down there, what if the enemy is thinking the same thing?"

The sound of time ticked silently inside Caedus' head. He sat there in the dark, watching his friend attempting to produce a battle plan for attacking Monos. Caedus chuckled to himself. He then overheard Dirk talking about the underground tunnel. He decided it was time to step in.

"Erhm... Excuse me gentlemen, if I may intervene..."

Caedus stood up and walked out of the shadows to Seth's desk.

"The underground tunnel can be taken care of quite easily I beleive... Our informants have already declared that the Monos' were planning to utilize it. We took care of it quite simply."

He gave them each a glance.

"We are leaving it open for them. Giving them a route like this will open up an oppurtunity to counterattack, here!"

He placed his finger on the southern side of the map, dragging it along to the Eastern side.

"We already control Lato... Which includes the entire southern sea area along with the majority of the Harbors on the continent. My thoughts are to use Lato as a base for the better of our army, keeping the steadfast ones here to defend and repel any attacks. By attacking Teyos first, whose army even compared to a small amount of ours is putrid, we can take over the entire sea-trading area of Vance."

    He looked to them both.

"Not only that, but gaining Teyos's advanced technology will ensure our victory against the troops of Monos. What do you think Seth?"

"So you've already made arrangements concerning the old city? Well then I see it's already taken care of. In that case I shall stay here and destroy the Monos troops that attack from that path. Meanwhile, Dirk. Caedus. If you will, take a small force of our most elite soldiers and execute your plan."

"Hello? Is anybody still here?" Jake was running through the town. Most buildings had already burnt to rubble. The ones left were about to collapse on themselves. As he neared the town square he noticed a few soldiers. Those uniforms... Attrox! They'll pay. Now, what do I have to work with? Jake looked around to see some sharp spikes from a collapsed building. Those'll work. Jake concentrated and the spikes silently rose into the air. With a small flick of his wrist the spikes embedded themselves in the back of each soldiers head. Jake drew out his sword incase there was more soldiers and rushed out. What he found instead was a woman holding a baby close to her chest, weeping uncontrollably. He looked closer to see the child was dead. Damn Attrox. They'll all pay for this. For everything, they'll pay.

    Caedus grinned.

"I beleive Dirk will be sufficient to lead our troops... he is quite capable himself. I have already planned to take a small... detour. I have other plans for that village we destroyed this morning on our border."

"Do as you wish. Your side plans usually yeild fruitful results. I meanwhile shall go and prepare the city for my ambush." Seth walked out and left the castle. He grabbed a horse from t
the stable and rode out of the city. After a few minutes he stopped. If memory serves correctly then the entrance should be right around here. He muttered a spell under his breath and suddenly a large chunk of the ground to his left floated up revealing a passage. "Ah, there it is." He spurred his horse on and once he was in the land fell back into place behind him.

"Thank you my lords, I will not fail you, but I see one flaw my lord caedus. like Daigun already said, the monos have an army that out matches ours in a heart beat. even on our own turf, we can't defeat them. A small army of elite troops, can not stand up to the technology that Teyos. And if I have all the elite troops, then won't that make the defense againest the troops of monos less odds of winning?"

    Caedus smirked.

"That would be the apparent problem... But the Monos do not know of our plan. And we need not win against Monos right now... That battle is only a facade to disguise the true fight in Teyos. They may have advanced technology... But our elite troops are more than a match for some of their weaker cities. Besides..."

He grinned, examining a greenish glow emanating from his hand.

"I think they will find the might of our armies... More than challenging enough. After all, how can they defeat what they cannot kill?"

"I guess you know a spell that can fix that? A spell that big will need a little more power, so here take some of mine." Dirk said some words to quiet to hear and a dark black and red ball appeared in Dirks hand and he threw it to Caedus. "I'll get the troops ready my lord." Dirk ran and jumped out the window and landed softly on the ground with the help of his dark magic. Dirk than ran to the barraks to round up the troops. he thought to himself, they might not be able to kill what they cannot kill, but they can drown us.

The people of Monos never seem to tire. Transporting artillery this way and that, running off to mend the wounded at every second… Vivienne had to put her frustration on hold so she could admire their energy. She expected half the country to be panicking, but after the initial shock wore off, most had accepted the situation and started preparing for the war.

Vivienne traced the details on her sword's hilt with her finger, frustration bubbling once again. For the past few days, she had done nothing but sulk. Everyone but her was busy with something. She needed to take action, and now was the perfect time to do so. If what she overheard was correct, a few of Monos' troops were going underground to ambush the Attrox soldiers. She just needed to find the underground entrance, and then…

"Attrox…" Her teeth clenched at the mere thought of them. I swear I'll kill every one of you.

Seth looked around. "Alright, everythings in place." There was crumbled buildings as well, as pillars or rock. He was in the underground city. "Thanks to my preperations, this path is the only one through this forgotten city. Now to set the traps." His hands began to glow and seals began to appear around him.

Jake had left the town and was on his way towards Teyos again. He kept walking until he reached a fork in the road. Straight ahead was the path to Teyos. To his right was the path towards the ruins of the Grand Citadel. Jake noticed that clouds were rolling in meaning that rain would come soon. He started walking towards the Grand Citadel. At least I'll have shelter from the coming rain. The walk took thirty minutes. Once there he looked at the Citadel. It was a tower made of brown stone reaching straight into the heavens. Parts of the walls and the windows were gone and the top hundred floors seemed to be missing entirely. Jake entered and looked around. There was a few rats and a spiral staircase that led up to the higher floors. Might as well look around. He took the staircase and went up checking many floors. Finally he stopped on the tenth floor. All the windows on this floor were destroyed. There was a few chairs and a table to the side. This was probably just a waiting room for guards or others while the representatives talked. I should be careful. The Citadel is the exact middle of the continent. All four countries intersect here. Attrox destroyed this place. They may use it for something war-related nowadays. Jake grabbed a chair and looked outside.

It was early morning; the sun had just risen over the mountains in the distance. Mithyl had gone to the Grand Citadel many times before, but it was the first time he had seen it in, for lack of a better word, shambles.

"The ravages of war." A hint of sadness could be detected in his voice. "The world is so beautiful...and yet there are always struggles. This just proves it: I must stop this war before it's too late."

He began to climb the steps to begin his daily ritual (after all, aerobic exercise was important to any soldier). When he reached the top, he found that his beloved lookout spot was not so much a spot, as it was...missing. The upper stories were completely destroyed and the staircase ended suddenly. Mithyl decided this was where he would say his daily prayer for peace. He removed his armour, lay down his weapons and prayed in silence on the destroyed staircase. He looked out over the land and saw the turmoil, the destructive power of Attrox. It was as if the heavens themselves wept for the land, as dark rainclouds rolled in from the west.

"My work is most certainly cut out for me..."

He began his descent and approached the tenth floor. He noticed a shadow around the corner, and put his hand on the hilt of his longsword.

"It is in peace that I come to you...show yourself!"

He then swiftly approached the figure, prepared to defend himself if need be.

(yeah the pic needs to go. its too modern)

Jake turned quickly with his hand on his sword. "The name's Jake. I'm only here to rest snd escape the coming rain. Who're you?" Jake looked over the stranger, noticing he was ready to fight as well. This may get ugly.

Mithyl decided that someone looking for a fight would have initiated one. All he needed was bloodshed or destruction on his conscience. He removed his hand from his blade...however he still felt that all the details to his identity were on a need-to-know basis. He had never met this young man (and did not know from where he hails), and wished to take every precaution.

I am Mithyl, a lowly blacksmith. I am here to say my daily prayer. A strong ally...or a powerful foe? I suppose I could use some rest as well. I have just travelled from Monos by horse.

"So you're not from Attrox? Then I guess I don't have to worry." He let go of his sword and sat back down. "I'm also from Monos. I was on my way to Teyos but then the clouds showed up and I could tell it was gonna rain. Thats when I came here. You can grab a chair if you want. I'm just gonna wait till tomorrow and then get going."

Caedus grinned as he felt the small surge of strength Dirk had given him. Hmph... Truly it was not neccessary... he thought to himself. He strode down the spiralling staircase of Valentine Castle, making his way out to his horse. He rode off on his horse for a few miles, until he came upon the entrance to the underground tunnels. It was near the Grand Citadel. He got off his horse and aimed his hands at the ground. A greenish glow emanated from his hands as power suddenly flooded from him into the ground. A few moments later, corpses of the dead and the undead rose from the ground, bearing the weapons they died with and more. A few hundred of them rose from the ground, prepared to kill. He made a motion to the entrance, and they understood.

They marched, by tens, by twenties, into the tunnel. As the last of them entered, Caedus heard a noise coming from the battle worn Citadel. It was where he was heading anyway, and the thought of running into some rebels excited him. He walked up to the enormous building, and walked inside. As he walked up the stairs, he could hear voices. He heard a few names... Jake and Mithyl... But they were of little importance. The names did not register in his mind.

He reached the fifth level, and saw the two of them sitting there... talking. He decided to watch over until they noticed him, after all, there was no use in starting a fight for no reason.

Vivienne managed to locate the underground entrance quickly enough. When she arrived, most of the troops had already descended into the opening and only the younger soldiers remained to guard the area. They didn't allow her inside, persistently warning her about monsters that apparently plagued the subterranean path, but she managed to force her way through them.

Having no sense of direction whatsoever, Vivienne worried more about getting lost than facing hordes of monster. She was surprised to see that the tunnel was a lot easier to maneuver than she expected. There were no forks—if there were any, they were somehow blocked by mountains of rocks—and there was a trail of monster carcasses left by Monos' troops for her to follow. She frowned. Everything seemed a little too simple; she didn't even get a chance to slay one monster.

I suppose I'm just lucky. She shrugged off her thoughts and continued forward, following the faint chatter of the Monos troops. The legendary forgotten city was just minutes' walk away, and after that was the exit to the Grand Citadel. Her lips twisted into a wry grin: she could almost see Attrox blood spilling right before her eyes.

"Time to start the show." The Monos army had entered the city and was going down the path that he had forced into being the only one. The front of the troops was nearly to the middle of the city. Seth quietly muttered spells and suddenly a few buildings crumble. The army ignored it, thinking it was natural for such a decayed area. Suddenly a few rocks fell from the ceiling, again looking like it was natural. A few soldiers were crushed but the army continued walking. The main of the army was at the cities middle. "Now!" Seth quickly chanted his spells and a large seal on the ground began to glow. The soldiers looked down in fear and shock as any on the seal instantly turned to stone. The remaining forces paniced and began to run wildly. Seth quietly manuevered out from his hiding place and began to punch the survivors hard in the gut. As he did he continued chanting his spells and each hit turned to stone lije the rest of the army. Soon there was no one left, the entire army was stone, their faces frozen in terror. Seth stood, admiring his work. Not bad. A grave fitting worms such as these. Suddenly something clicked in his mind. One of my sensory spells? Someone's still coming? Seth quickly hid himself so he could properly ambush the coming person.
