Sig #1: As Demaian said, way too much going on. It's chaotic. The colors are very uncomplimentary and oversaturated, besides. The placement of the stock image is wonky, too. The general rule, as I've seen, is to mentally divide your sig into three equal parts, and the focal should fall on one of the two lines that separate the parts. Which, looking back, you may have almost done that, but the way you divided the sig into essentially two very different parts makes it look all wrong. Text is pretty terrible. Take a look at Demaian's current signature, or Malibu's, for an example.

Sig #2: Again with the chaos. And again with the random colors. Text is better than on the last sig, though where it is placed leaves a lot of "blank" space on the right. (Blank because there's no depth- my eyes just glide right over it). The render looks weird, jutting out above the rest of the sig.

Sig #3: The focus is washed out and very hard to see. There's again not really any depth to the background, and the stripes take away any flow the black dotted effect may have had. This has the opposite problem of the first one in being way undersaturated. The white brushing obscures the text in an unappealing way, too.

I notice you said you're using photoshop and fotoflexer. Why are you switching between two programs? Photoshop should be able to do anything any other program can, and then some.

Very low quality render, which takes away from the rest of the sig. You can see that it wasn't cut out well at all -there is still lots of jagged white around the image. Same problems I've mentioned before concerning the text. The double use of the render doesn't work too well for me. The yellow brushing is the start of something that could work, but it's surrounded by too much of that same black and gray background. There's also a purple brush or something that's a little out of place.

 

I don't have time for a very in-depth critique, but I will say quickly here that your renders are terrible. Very jagged edges with a lot of white. I don't even need to critique the rest of the sig- this kills it.

 

I wouldn't talk too loudly about other people's suckage. You're about on the same level here.

Planet Renders

You have to join the site (but it's free), but it is well worth it- there are tons of renders for just about everything you could be looking for, ranging from the pretty good to the great quality. All are better than the ones you are currently using. Join and start using some high quality stock. It will improve your sigs just by doing that.


This is really just a mess. Besides the poor quality render, there's no flow at all. The red brushing in particular is just every which way, and with that particular render, I think it's actually pretty easy to see how the flow should go. There's awkward render placement here, too, with the render so far to the bottom of the sig. The colors chosen from the background both have nothing to do with the colors in the render, nor are they complimentary colors.


Pretty much the same comments here. No flow. Text is really distracting. The shadowy effect doesn't work for me, particularly when the render is so poorly cut.

So yeah.
