^This post in the Status Ailments thread gave me the idea for this thread. Because malboros suck. A lot.

So, which monsters/fiends do you hate the most, or find the most annoying?
    ---

Malboros are practically a given, though they are most annoying in VIII, I'd say. I'd often find my party completely screwed, especially when I first started encountering them.

Another monster that really ticks me off is the yan from FFIX. Those little punks were strong. I probably couldn't even count how many times they slaughtered me while I was trying to level up, even when my party was pretty strong to begin with. Damn things. But the EXP you gained from killing them made it worthwhile.

    Malboros, obviously.

Tonberries..... One of my favorite monsters (Below Cactars), but their strength (At least in X) is ridiculous.

And, speaking of X, any type of Bee monster. Those things are so annoying to attack, especially if they poison you.

In FFXII, in the later part of the game (Before going into the tombs under the Empire Capital), there were these cat things that I Believe were called Panthers. I hated those things like a mofo. They could cast magic and fight pretty damn well, but also stuck together in groups.

    But yeah, Marbolos too.

  4. Goldfish

    Goldfish Cats in the Cradle

Anything fast and hard to hit.
Anything that for some reason HAS to have the pre-emptive to induce some sort of really bad status (Malboros...)
Anything with Incredible stats, but the challenge is there.

As much as the Malboros are hated, I didn't find them to be much of a threat in XII, mainly VIII and previous I feared them.

In IX, I keep getting killed by iron giants, tonberries, and cactuars! I'm only level 51, and i'm in the final part of the game!

I agree. XII's malboros were easily killed with a few attacks, even when they first start appearing, and their bad breath (if I am remembering correctly) only hit one character at a time. Although, Carrot was one annoying boss.

^Yes, I'd count that, because MZ was more of a random encounter type than a boss, in my opinion.

And he was pretty annoying- ejecting my character with the enemy skill materia from the fight while I'm trying to learn Beta. And for being so annoying, I seem to remember that defeating him earns you very sucky EXP.

the worst enemy for me was, in ff 9, the cactus thing, he keeps hiding then uses a killer move when i hit

    yeah, i'm impatient

then in ff 12, the most anoying enemy was gilgamesh, he has really bad catch phrases

I think that's part of his charm. He's the exact same way in FF V. And he's really a boss, moreso than a monster. >_<

In FFIX, I remember some cat-like monsters who'd ask for a gem, and if you attacked them, went psycho with the meteor. They were annoying (especially since at first I thought it was one of the friendly monsters and wasted a diamond on it), though not especially difficult to defeat.

but, in ff 12, he is a marked monster, so, technicaly, not a boss in the game

    sorry to decieve you

Eh, all of the hunts are bosses, in my opinion. This thread is moreso about the random encounters you come across throughout the games.

Tonberries are another type of monster that annoy me, though how much varies on the game. Generally, it's the earlier games that have the more annoying versions in my opinion, though the Mega Tonberries (I think that's what they were called) in FF X-2 were both kind of creepy and a pain in the you-know-what to defeat. Catnip + Trigger Happy ftw.

Karma + a character that has killed alot = Dead

At least in FFX. Tonberries are some of my favorite monsters, but hate it when I don't kill them in one hit.

  14. dualblade

    dualblade Break!

o_O How can you not like Gilgamesh!Anyways, off that

Malboros are a givin for anyone. The damn Nekbet from XII just pisses me off for no reason, along with the human type enemy from Nabradia (cant remember there names right now, they can wield swords and guns though, and hit for pretty high damage.Weak to Ice.)

    Hecteyes annoyed me in IX.

another anoying enemy is the wolf, near the ending of the 12th game, ff XII

you can pretty much swat them without weapons and they are pretty useless by then(except for acuiring licences)

Everyone's Grudge in the earlier games works the same way and it's annoying. But, at least I know that the tonberry will counterattack if I can't kill it in one hit, so I'm prepared. And he's still far away. It's when he gets really close and starts Chef's Knifing all of the characters faster than they can be revived that the tonberry really sucks.

Which is why the ultimate armor helps. Auto Haste, Auto Protect, Auto Pheonix, and Auto Potion.

    More monsters.....

The Abysteel from FFXII. At least, I think that is what they're called. The ungodly strong bats in the Henne Mines secret area. Those are the most annoying enemy in the game. My main group is in the mid 70's, and I cannot consistently kill them. But then again, it is the secret area of the Henne Mines.......

Not all of the games have those abilities. I thought tonberries were easy in X. VII and VIII is where I found them more problematic (moreso VII, I believe).

Yes, these suck. XII had a lot of ungodly strong monsters that consistently slaughtered me- mainly in the Henne Mines, Barheim Passage (I think) and the Great Crystal. Every monster in the Great Crystal area was a pain in the ass. >_<

I found them easy enough in VIII when I was searching for the Tonberry King. As effective as Diablos is, Squall's Renzokuken kills them all.

Can't wait till I'm level 99 and going after Ultima and Omega Mk. XII

Eh, perhaps it was just the monotony of fighting so many of them- I got lazy. But I think VIII's version was still harder than X's. You could put X's to sleep and magic 'em to death before they wake up if you were too underleveled to beat them with physical attacks. VIII's were immune to most of that stuff, I think. >_<

Ultima I don't remember as being that hard. You could beat her before 99. Omega Mark XII was a huge pain though. I don't think I was quite level 99 when I beat him, though I was close, and he killed me tons before I finally won. Good luck, if you decide to face him.
