Kingdom Hearts: A New Dawn (OOC & SU)

  1. King of Darkness

King of Darkness What up Monica

In this universe there are two realms, both opposite sides of the same coin. There is the realm of light, a symbol of purity and strength for those who believe to overcome obstacles and grow to their full strength. On the other side of the coin lies the realm of darkness, a symbol of pure aggression, violence, and chaos. For a millennium these two realms have fought against one another, fighting for power, glory, land, and even souls. The dark has never satisfied it's unending hunger for power and land along with the need to conquer, the light seeking for only glory. The light’s main goal is for the darkness to always recognize that it's kind is not welcomed in the realm of light, that it has it’s place and so does the light. There have been many in the past that have asked the question as to why the two sides cannot coexist on a single plane, why there can be no medium. While the darkness has always been opposed to the idea , refusing to even think about coexisting, the light being much more opened to the idea.

It wasn't until the darkness suffered a crushing defeat that the two realms began to talk of a way to end the bloodshed, to stop the wars. The King of Light met with the Ruler of Darkness to find a truce of sort. The King of Light saw no way to definitively make it known that the two realms were united other than to have the son of the Ruler marry his daughter. After much debate, the two factions agreed and thus the children were married. The King and the Ruler had, together, carefully crafted a realm of Twilight for the couple so that the two realms could live together in peace. Surprising enough, many of the people who lived in the realm of light and darkness decided to move on into this realm of Twilight, seeing it as a chance of opportunity to engage with these almost foreign people.

27 years later, the children of dark and light have had a daughter, the first and only child born of twilight. What was once thought to be impossible and improbable had now become a reality. Current times have allowed free travel from realm to realm, creating a truly diverse atmosphere, thanks to gummi technology. It was only a matter of time before such peaceful times were to be broken. The parents of the twilight child have been murdered, leaving the child the sole ruler of her realm. The murderer's remain unknown, but the question is who to blame? Were the murderer(s) of the realm of light or of darkness? With this question looming, the realms stand upon the brink of war. A war that not only seeks out the culprit of the heinous offense, but also a war of two grandfathers biding for the love of their granddaughter. For whoever has the favor of the granddaughter, will forever change the pace of this upcoming war. The only thing preventing this war is the child's persistence in seeing the murderer(s) being found.

And this is where our story begins: A week after the death of her parents, at the funeral, where the two king's stand off against each other, prepared to declare war on the other side. Our twilight princess must do everything in her power to prevent this from happening and found out who is responsible for this offense.

    Rules and Notes:

Standard roleplay rules for this site apply
All posts must be at least 5 lines
This roleplay takes place in a universe where Sora's story never occurs, meaning no Xehanort, Organization, Mickey, or Keyblade War existed. The only exceptions being Keyblades, Heartless, Kingdom Hearts, and other elements that did not have direct impacts on the story. However, variations or likeness' of any original Kingdom Hearts character are allowed
Although Keyblades are allowed, they are limited to royals and knights, sorry close friends. Only one mercenary may have a Keyblade, but must be thoroughly explained in their bio
This roleplay is rated M for: Intense violence, strong language, blood and gore, mature humor, alcohol reference/use, and sexual content/themes
Partake in this RP with the rating in mind
Romance is allowed, but anything NC-17 is to be kept in pm's
This roleplay takes place in a modern setting, albeit, royalty lives in castles and power is solely a monarchy
The only character able to use light and darkness is the princess. There are no other characters to be born with the ability to use both, created to use both, etc.
All characters must use either light or darkness as a means for combat (Meaning that any one of the mercenaries can use either light or darkness, they do not all have to be limited to one side)

I know this is a lot of rules, but I want this to be a very smooth RP

    Needed Roles:

Child of Twilight: King of Darkness- Sophia
Supreme Ruler of Darkness: King of Darkness- Valdus
King of Light: Curtis8494- Gabriel Grady

    Name: Sophia Keeth

    Born of: Light and Dark

    Role: Child of Twilight

    Age: 17

Personality: Sophia is a bubbly, innocent, and at often times clueless young girl. However, when determined, and given a good motive, Sophia can buckle down and put her mind to do anything she wishes.

    Appearance:

    Weapon:
(Which she summons by grabbing the key on her hip)

Powers, abilities, and strengths: Born from both light and dark, Sophia possesses the unique gift of being able to use both in combat. Having been trained by her parents, Sophia only knows basic attacks, such as generating concentrated blasts of both powers and using them to make barriers to defend herself. She also possesses a third trait, which is the power of twilight, which she uses mainly for defense, but can be highly effective as an offensive weapon. While her twilight powers essentially are a more buffed version of her standard light and darkness powers, her royal armor generates power from her twilight powers. Her biggest strengths come from her great knowledge of healing spells and enchantments, which she also uses her twilight powers for.

Weaknesses: While Sophia can potentially be a strong opponent, her greatest downfall comes from her innocence and being naive. While her parents taught her how to defend herself and how to fight, she has never been proficient in either category, more so heavily relying on her guards. Often clueless, she may easily walk into an otherwise obvious trap. Also, even though her armor protects her from nearly any attack, the stronger the attack used, the more likely the armor is to break and remains unusable for several hours.

Bio: Sophia is the granddaughter of the Supreme Ruler of Darkness and the King of Light, making her the first and only person to be able to use light and darkness. Although born of royalty, Sophia knows all too well of the world outside of her castle, given the friendly and positive nature of the joint realm of light and darkness that she lives in. Her closest friends, in fact, she met outside of her castle. Having grown up in such a friendly environments, her parents keeping her oblivious to the prejudice and hatred both realms still have to each other, she has developed a friendly and innocent personality. The only hint she has ever had about the tension between the two realms has been through her grandfathers, who often try to sway her into thinking poorly of the other side.

Following her the death of both of her parents, Sophia has tried her best to keep her same personality in tact, although she often breaks down, not fully understanding why anyone would kill them. Since their deaths, Sophia has finally taken notice of the true resentment that each realm has between each other, with riots breaking out daily in parts of the realm of twilight. It almost seems as though Sophia is the only one not out for blood, but for reason.

    Theme: (None yet)

Special Note: Her armor as mentioned earlier, which is activate by her pressing the charm around her neck (Said armor is only available to those able to wield Keyblades):

(Also comes with a helmet, very much like the helmets from the Keyblade armor in Birth By Sleep)

Making a run for the Head Mercenary spot. Not sure I'm thrilled about being limited to light or darkness though. I was kinda drifting towards giving him nothingness as the backdrop for his powers.

  3. W.J. Solomon

    W.J. Solomon Solomon's Reprieve

Ok, here are my two characters currently.

    Name: Will McBride
    Born of: Darkness
    Role: Friend of Sophia
    Age:20
Personality: Generally a kind and caring person when around Sophia, but he has a very cold and analytical mindset, constantly thinking and running through ideas and theories. Generally very calculated while fighting, making every move precise.
    Appearance:http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130524194827/fantendo/images/b/bc/Edward_Elric.jpg
Still wears his blue knights coat over a black shirt with jeans. No gloves. Right arm is a metal prosthetic.
Weapon(s): Either makes a blade from the top of his metal arm, or pulls a weapon from the area
Powers, abilities, and strengths: Dark Matter Transmutation: This is the main ability Will has. He doesn't use magic or anything, since he only trained with his dark matter transmutation. The concept of this ability is that he can make things into weapons, from the surrounding or his own body. Can either change the structure of his metal arm, or the surrounding materials, making them into either combat terrain, weapons, or even making offensive terrain out of it. The main point of his ability though is to pull pure darkness from the air. This is what drains him the most. He can surround his appendages with pure darkness and craft it into weapons, or shoot it into the area to erode the terrain.
Weakness: His weakness is sometimes if Sophia is involved in conflict he's not completely focused on the fight, therefore making some of his moves not make sense. Another is if he has too much active dark matter out it draws quite a bit from him. Strong light abilities burn him as well.
Bio: At a young age he grew up believing the war had been unnecessary, but couldn't simply be stopped by a joining of two different sides. As this result he joined the knight's training early, hoping that a mechanic would be useful in the knights. He took to the training phenomenally, but when they offered him a chance at being an elite at the age of 15, he jumped at it. When he went in they told him he would need to have an experimental procedure done, but he was willing to do anything, so if it came time to fight, he would be ready. They began injecting him with pure darkness, what they called Dark Matter. He took the treatment quite well except for one part. His right arm, having been broken as a child, had a bad reaction to the dark matter, completely destroying his right arm before his body finally accepted it. In this result they took him off the elite unit and told him he would need to fully rehabilitate before he was allowed back into the knights. He decided to step away from the knights after that, deciding that if they couldn't use his determination he would find a use for it elsewhere. When he left he made himself a prosthetic arm, and found himself a home in the twilight realm, spending his five years mastering his new ability and befriending Sophia. After the death of her parents, Will was determined to help her find out what was happening, in hopes he could just maybe prove his abilities were useful, that his sacrifice wasn't for nothing.
Special Note: Is actually quite a talented mechanic, repairing and maintaining his own prosthetic. Also has a keyblade but tends to constantly shift its shape.

    Name: Edmund Kite
    Born of: Light
    Role: Mercenary
    Age:48
Personality: a hothead in nature, is a very cruel and sloppy fighter, but makes it work in his favor by the sheer amount of attacks he does. The only person he really respects is the head merc. Prefers to stick close to his friends.
    Appearance:http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120309175421/goldensun/images/9/9b/GSFelix.jpg
    Weapon(s): Metal Chocobo
Powers, abilities, and strengths: Light Mass Molding: Similar to Dark Matter Transmutation, Ed uses light to mold the area around him or his own personal area. He can create barriers of light around himself or fire off beams of light at the click of a finger, make light explosions, and can pull weapons from the ground as well but prefers his keyblade.
Weakness: Main weakness is that he is constantly trying to attack, sometimes making his blows sloppy and unconcentrated. Also tends to let emotions get ahold of him.
Bio: Grew up in the light kingdom, close to the royal family since his father was a knight. Growing up he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps, and became a knight at the age of 16, joining the battlefield very quickly and becoming one of the best. He gained a very large amount of power by pulling light from any dying soldiers from his side, using the abilities he gained from it to become a war hero, killing many dark soldiers, often cruelly by slowly burning them to death with light, or stabbing them through completely. He gained the name 'The Butcher' from both sides of soldiers, and was eventually dishonored by the king. Without the knight's guidance and missions, he became a blade for higher, selling his skills to the highest bidder. When he was found by his current merc group, he agreed with the leader's ideals so he stayed, continuing with them. He believes that half breeds are abominations and the dark ones are scum that need to be eradicated.
    Theme:
Special Note: Has a scar across his right eye, didn't affect his eye but is very nasty looking.

  6. Taboo Sho

Taboo Sho The Math Emperor Staff Member Moderator Content Writer

    Name: Deimos

    Age: 17

    Gender: Male

    Created from Darkness

Role: Knight of Darkness (Sophia’s Guardian)

Personality: Loyal to a fault. Deimos is an artificial human created to serve as the Guardian of the Twilight Princess. His loyalty to the Princess has never faltered, and to the surprise of his creators, he’s begun to show signs of true feelings, rather then artificial ones. There is no doubt that Deimos would give his life to protect the Princess, and, unless ordered by the Princess herself, Deimos will never leave her side, and even then, should the situation call for it, Deimos will remain by her side even if ordered away.

When in battle, his personality is nearly identical to his normal persona, but he's extremely ruthless, and will stop at nothing to eliminate any threats to his master, Sophia.

    Appearance: *Soon*

    Weapons:

    Sharpshooter
A keyblade custom made for Deimos. It allows him to remain close to Sophia, while also picking off enemies at a distance. The weapon itself is implemented in most of Deimos’s abilities, and it’s raw physical power is terrifying.

    Powers/Abilities:

    The Gauntlet of Turmoil

A powerful armored Gauntlet created by the Supreme Ruler for his knight. It grants Deimos access to the darkest and most ancient of magics.

    Pain

The darkest and most ancient of magical attacks. At the cost of his own life, Deimos can inflict a curse upon any opponent he so chooses, that will drain their life away, once it has drained nearly all the life from the body, the curse will effectively cripple the opponent in all possible ways, leaving them unable to move, fight or even speak. It takes ten days for the curse to take full effect. By the fifteenth day, the afflicted is dead.

While undoubtedly powerful, the fallbacks of the ability are far from generous. They are as follows:

    Pain Fallbacks
There is a cure for the Curse. But it must be administrated before the tenth day and can only be found in the Realm of Darkness.

The incantation required to use the move is brutally long, and thus easily interrupted. Should the incantation be interrupted, the user must begin from the start again.

While very hard to dodge, due to the ability being an invisible ball of darkness, it is very much avoidable.

Hit or miss, the ability kills the user. Once the incantation is finished the user gives up their life to inflict the curse upon the opponent.

The ability can only be used by Deimos if Sophia commands him to use it. He cannot use it on his own, and therefore, he(I) has(have) no control over its use. If Sophia decides never to use it, it will never be used.
(If the attack is still too overpowered for you guys I'll remove it. I'm just in a FFX ability mood)

    Big Bang

Deimos unleashes a massive Graviga ball that engulfs his opponents. Once they are trapped inside, he fires off two rockets that, upon impact, detonate the Graviga ball, resulting in an earth shattering explosion. Deimos must recharge after using this move.

    Oblivion
A powerful attack taught to Deimos by the Supreme Ruler himself, which is only usable if Sophia is critically injured.. It creates an artificial plane, which any enemy within a two mile radius is transported into. From there, Deimos unleashes a heavy barrage of shots from Sharpshooter that home in on their targets. Deimos then uses his Gauntlet to cause the artificial plane to implode damaging all within it. Deimos has been programmed to use this move immediately should Sophia sustain too much damage.

    Dark Bomb

Deimos leaps high into the air, focusing a large amount of darkness into his gauntlet that is released in a shockwave of darkness upon impact with the ground.

Strengths: Deimos is immune to most darkness infused abilities, and his Gauntlet can absorb said abilities to heal himself. His brute strength is something to be feared, and his aim with his keyblade is practically flawless. His Gauntlet can also act as a shield, as it’s made of a very powerful dark material.

Weaknesses: Deimos is loyal to a fault, though he is not easily provoked or angered, harming the princess, or threatening her, is a surefire way to piss Deimos off enough to want to kill you on the spot. He’s also naturally weak against light magic and abilities to a certain extent, though he’s been hurt by Sophia’s attacks more then once. Fighting Deimos at a distance is bound to get you killed, while immensely powerful, he’s more efficient at long range, he’s not terrible at fighting at close range, but he’s not very good at it either.

Bio: Deimos was created on the day Sophia was born. He was created to age with Sophia, so as to remain close to her at all times. As such, he’s been by her side all his life. From a young age he’s been protecting her, helping her, and just being there for her, and the few times he was absent, including the day her parents were murdered, he would make up to her with games and toys among other things.

He was initially given mere artificial feelings, but as he grew, alongside the princess, he began to develop more then just fabricated feelings, they grew to become genuine, and to the surprise of his creator, the Supreme Ruler, Deimos began developing feelings for Sophia directly.

This was the one and only time Deimos would speak out against his creator, telling the Supreme Ruler that he would not attempt to make Sophia fall in love with him just so she would have a reason to side with the Darkness. If she fell in love with him, it’d be natural, and, with a straight face, Deimos bluntly stated that the Princess wouldn’t be falling in love with him anyway, because it wasn’t her, she’s far to innocent. After he spoke, Deimos up and left, leaving the Supreme Ruler to question what just happened, because he hadn’t planned on getting involved in her personal affairs.

Deimos returned to Sophia’s side, and has remained there day in and day out for the past three years. Deimos lives to serve her, he lives to protect her. He would die for her, bleed for her, sacrifice anything and everything for her well being. That’s just who he is, he has been, and always will be, Sophia’s faithful Guardian.

    Theme: (None yet)

Other: Don’t bother trying to sleep in the same room as Sophia. If Deimos isn’t inside the room with her, he’s guarding the door. Nobody sees the princess without him knowing, and he will allow nobody, not even him, to sleep with her, unless she directly permits it.

Deimos is very protective of Sophia, and he’s also very untrusting of the Knight of Light, not because he’s from the opposite realm however, but because he doesn’t know his motives. He’s aware that he’s to protect Sophia under the King of Light’s orders, but what is the King’s motive? Until he knows for sure, Deimos will remain cautious of the other Knight.

  7. King of Darkness

King of Darkness What up Monica

    Name: Valdus Hexx

    Born of: Darkness

    Role: Supreme Ruler of Darkness

    Age: 73

Personality: Calculating, patient, ruthless, and merciless. Valdus only shows any sort of emotion for his people as a whole and his family.

    Appearance:
(Due to his prolonged exposure to darkness and lineage, his eyes are a eminence shade of purple)

    Weapon:

Power, abilities, and strengths: Despite his age, Valdus is an incredibly strong opponent. His sword's lightness and durability allows him to swiftly cut through enemies like butter. Mastering the darkness, Valdus' strongest moves are:

Black Tack Mist: The BTM is a move which engulfs a wide area, not able to be contained, in a black hazy mist. It's most effective against medium to lower tier citizens and warriors of light, as it completely blinds them. For the more trained, however, it can blur less than a quarter of vision. It's real strength is that the mist harms anyone who is in it, even those who are highly trained in using the darkness, although they resist it much more. The duration of the mist depends on the well being of Valdus.

Teleportation: On a dime, Valdus is able to instantly teleport himself anywhere within a 20 feet radius.

Dark Silencer Discs: Valdus is able to produce non physcial discs by swinging his sword, discs made from pure concentrated darkness. Theses discs have jagged spikes on its rims and can travel a distance of at least 35 feet before evaporating into nothing.

Foul Howler: Valdus's most well known move is his ability to produce a loud, glass shattering howl, used to deafen his opponents. It has even been said that his howl can break a man's blade if he howls loud enough. Through this howl, too, Valdus lets out small tack like bits of darkness. This move is also used to propel Valdus away from harm.

When his armor is on, Valdus not only has and increase in strength, his speed and agility increase tenfold and he is given another assortment of tricks such as:

Shadow Claw: His armored hands take the form of giant armored claws, allowing him to slash at his opponents.

Shadow Walking/Jumping: Valdus is able to traverse the field through the use of shadows of other people and other objects.

Shadow Glass: Valdus' most impressive move, Shadow Glass is a move which surrounds Valdus in a clear purple glass like box and protects him from any attack, period. Although this is most commonly used against very big attacks, it can also be used to protect him from a barrage of attacks. This move only works once in a battle, and drains all the energy from his armor.

Weaknesses: With Valdus now at an older age, he is not as durable and strong as he was in his youth. Any attacks that land on Valdus take their toll more greatly than it would on a trained soldier. Besides that, Valdus' age doesn't allow him to keep a fight going for very long, meaning her will often try to rely too much on his armor and the abilities it gives him.

Bio: Born into the royal Hexx family of the realm of darkness, Valdus was born into war by default. As the oldest child of two, he was given the throne at 17 following the death of his father in combat. Although Valdus too fought on the battlefield, since he was 14, he was more of a tactician than anything else. Following his rise to the throne, Valdus grew stronger than ever, surpassing his greatest soldiers and even his late father. Valdus won many great and important battles against the realm of light in his first 10 years alone, gaining many cities and important landscapes in the realm of light.

Following an attempted assassination attempt by his own brother, Valdus began to grow as a cold and merciless individual. His natural hatred for the realm of light had grew even more when a new king of the realm of light had taken back many of Valdus' claimed lands. Valdus had found his equal. 30 years following his gaining of the throne, Valdus lost an extremely important battle on his own realm, which meant, had the war continued, the realm of Darkness would eventually have been destroyed by the light. Forced into no other option, Valdus agreed to meet with the King of Light (only their second meeting, having met a first time in battle, before Valdus' son was born) and seek a truce.

In a meeting filled with hostility and rage, most of which coming from Valdur who was usually calm and collective, the two finally came to an agreement, which had caused hours of debate when first proposed: Their children would marry, signifying to both realms that the two realms could be equal. This was only accepted by the citizens of darkness because it meant that no more Black Blood, a term used by extremely pro darkness citizens to identify themselves and their blood, would be spilled

Although initially worried, Valdus' nerves settled quickly upon seeing that his 19 year old son was genuinely happy with his wife. When the first child born of light and dark was born, Valdus tried to accept that this was the final nail on the coffin that was the war between light and dark. However, since Sophia's birth, he has done nothing but tried to win her affection, hoping that she would favor the realm of darkness more than the realm of light. This was only so that if anything were to happen between the two realms, in terms of propaganda and strength, Valdus would have an edge.

Since the death of his son and his wife, Valdus has shown no restraint in his hatred for the realm of light, claiming that they had some hand in it. Valdus is using this as an opportunity to finally end things with the realm of light, hopefully, with the help of Sophia.

Special Notes: Valdus' armor, shown in the following picture, is activated by him simply allowing his shadow to cover his entire body
    [IMG]

Oh hey, and guys, note about the mercenaries that I don't think I was clear about when I wrote it: They are the group responsible for the couple's murder. It's more so that since they are hired guns, who paid them to kill the couple. Just so you all are aware...

  8. W.J. Solomon

    W.J. Solomon Solomon's Reprieve

    Name: Gabriel Grady
    Born of: Light
    Role: King of Light
    Age: 68
Personality: A very just and caring king. He tends to be very much about his people. He has always wished the best for his granddaughter, and wants peace. As much as he wishes for peace though, he has kept his forces strong to be sure if anything happens they were ready. He tends to be very fair in his rulings, but takes no tolerance for cruelty or unfairness. Is very forceful when it comes to battle tactics.
    Appearance: http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/100/e/e/judge_gabranth___ff_xii_by_kn8e-d4vpjm6.jpg
    http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a182/photoperson17/FMA/2821.jpg
    Weapon(s): In the picture
Powers, abilities, and strengths: Light Barrier: Pretty obvious, he can create walls and barriers of light.
Breakthrough: Cast a large blast of light energy with a swing from his sword, which will knock down or break through most barriers, even stunning opponents.
Flare: Casts a blinding light that makes it hard for some to see, and will even burn those who are born of darkness.
Purify: Can grab a person and begin filling them with light, slowly using it to either shut them down or cripple them
Judgement:Slams his sword into the ground, making a light circle around him in a wide radius that he can either turn into a barrier, or use to collapse and detonate the ground.
Magic: Can use light to mimic different magic styles. Can use fire, ice, and lightning magic rather well. Can either conduct the magic into the surroundings, cast enough to affect the world, or use it to add an affect to his blade.
Weakness: Though he is swift for his age, and is fast with his blade and magic, he cannot take much punishment during a fight. He tends to keep his armor on because he can still move quite well in it, and it will keep most damage off of him, but he cannot keep a battle going like that.
Bio: For most of his early life, Gabriel grew up in the castle, being taught in all manners of schooling, but mainly in politics, battle tactics, and swordplay. He was raised to be a replacement for the current king, and at the age of 22, he became the current reigning king. During most campaigns he headed the field himself, making sure that he was always there. He would even visit wounded during the nights. The only time he really had a problem on the field was when he had to dishonor Edmund in front of an entire battalion after he slaughtered both light and dark soldiers coldly. When they finally intertwined with the dark people, he was the first pushing for peace and was happy to help make the twilight realm. He currently spends his time visiting between the light and twilight realms, and when the murder of the only light and dark relationship happened he prepared to move troops, believing the dark realm had been the one who caused it.

My work thus far. I see that Curtis' merc character got accepted as the Keybearer... but I figured since I had a back story idea for that I'd pitch it anyways and see what KoD thinks; I've italicized the segment of his biography that covers that much. Still working out how I'm going to word out his personality and powers; stealing time for that as I can with final exams/projects in swing.

    Name: Nils | Faust Bage
Age: Roughly 60; appears in his mid-twenties
    Role: Head Mercenary

Personality: In the lack of a Heart, Nils is completely devoid of any sense of emotion or feeling. While he can recall the state of most emotions and replicate those states flawlessly, he relies little on such antics and pretending, preferring to stay true to his unfeeling nature. On the rare occasions that he shows a glimmer of emotion over anything, it's usually done for the purpose of rhetoric to get his point across. He is commonly witnessed as a cold and somewhat callous man, showing no empathy for the pains and tribulations of others. What he lacks in emotion is covered by pure, hard logic. He sees himself as an being unclouded by the limiting constraints of feeling, which cause the mind to drift away from "true ideals" in favor of what brings the Heart its pleasure. He believes himself to be capable of seeing past the dictations of pleasuring the Heart and seeing through to what constitutes the greater good of true moral standard.

    Biography:

    Early Life

Born of the Realm of Light, Faust was descended from two great bloodlines. From his father’s side he was the son of a long line of nobles and prior Knights of Light that had stood by the King of Light. On his mother’s side, he bore an indirect blood relation to the royal family itself; by order of succession, he would have been around the twentieth in line to take the throne. Despite the nature of bloodlines and succession pushing him further down the list as new children were born ahead of him, he was destined to reach great heights without the throne.

Faust began his rise to greatness at age 17, when he followed in the footsteps of his father’s line as a conscript in the Light King’s armies. As could be expected, he excelled in his training. By age 18 he was cleared for active service. With the realms of Light and Darkness still at war with each other, without any victory to be seen on either side, there was plenty of work to be done. As a fresh recruit from the barracks he was sent out to the front lines to battle against the forces of Darkness on the edge of the Realm of Light; there, the Dark armies were strongest and most persistent, and the Light Knights needed to leave an impression early.

    Military Rise

And leave an impression they did.

Faust became a valuable member of the team from the outset of his tour of duty, offering numerous victories in single combat and often aiding his comrades, particularly those that had been injured. Through skill, strength and pure willpower, Faust managed to survive slew after slew of combat. Impressively, the young warrior managed to survive over the course of years battling on the outer worlds against some of the most powerful and massive armies of Darkness. By age 22, Faust was both up for promotion to the Rank of Lieutenant Captain and scheduled for a reassignment. The long story short of both events: Faust received his promotion and was moved to his new assignment.

His new station was the world of Traverse Town, a fortified city so close to the Darkness that it was caught eternally amongst a starry night. Being a significant military garrison, it was under an almost constant siege by the armies of Darkness, which had, on several occasions, managed to breach the gate into the town's First District. The battles that followed proved to be the most grueling and disturbing of Faust's military career. On more than one instance he witnessed the near demise of the garrison, before valiantly staving its attackers off. The tolls of lost comrades had an even harsher effect on him; only a month into his stay, he was fighting in the name of more and more fallen brethren.

It was during this stay in Traverse Town that Faust would come into possession of a most valuable asset to defeating the Darkness: A Keyblade. When the locally stationed Keybearer was upon his deathbed, mortally wounded from a rare breach into the Second District, he called upon the young officer, and passed his Keyblade onto him, ensuring that the next warrior to wield it was both young and skilled enough to make good, long term use out of the weapon. This event marked the next great period for Faust's career; as the resident Keybearer in Traverse Town, he became the rallying point for many of the future battles.

The next several years would see the new Keybearer receiving a string of promotions, in a steady effort to keep the most inspiring figure in the Traverse Town Armies in noticeable position to boost morale. From his promotion to Captain to fill his predecessor's place, he was later promoted to Lt. Colonel, to Colonel and so on. By age 26, Faust Bage was entitled as "General Officer of the Traverse Town Defensive," or simply "General Bage." It was this rank that he would hold for several years to follow. It was also after this promotion that the Darkness seemed to lighten its offensives, taking a series of glancing blows against the town, but ultimately steering clear of open conflict on any large scale; the fame of General Bage, the Keybearer of Traverse Town, had leaked into the enemy lines, prompting a period of war of attrition.

    Defense of Traverse Town

This all came to a head four years later, when, after surmising the new General's assets and prowess, the Dark Armies made the move that Faust had been waiting for: an all out assault on the Traverse Town garrison. It was the largest invasion force Faust, or anyone on the world, had seen on the horizon, numbering in the tens of thousands. With only several thousand troops at his disposal, Faust put in a call to his superior off-world to send reinforcements, stressing Traverse Town as a crucial stronghold to keep the Darkness from freely entering the Realm of Light. "Its fall would provide the Dark Armies a mature garrison directly over the boundary between the two Realms," he wrote. "If we're to make any stand, we must do so here and now."

His response from the General Commander was less than pleasing: “We cannot, at this time in the war, sacrifice more of our ranks for a lost cause.” Receiving provisions but no additional support, Faust was left to lead his forces into battle against an enemy that outnumbered his own ten-to-one.

The ensuing conflict was, by far, the most vicious that anyone stationed on Traverse Town had witnessed first hand. Faust’s army of fewer than five thousand mounted its most impressive defense, maintaining the outer walls against several waves Heartless and human soldiers double their size. Two waves of attack saw the defenses persist. However, by the third wave of the invasion finally broke walls and smashed through the gate into the First District. With his numbers halved by the previous waves, Faust called for a retreat into the Second District, where his army, once more proved itself resilient, springing back from a morale deficit. But the damage had been dealt, and the third wave’s momentum allowed it to break through the gate into the Second District. Again, Faust’s army was halved in numbers.

He called for retreat a second time, pulling back into the Third District, where the bulk of his army prepared to stand ground, intending to use the small space to restrict the effectiveness of the Dark Army’s size. Meanwhile, Faust ordered a detachment to the alleyways leading into the Second District in an attempt to ambush the enemy from behind. Both strategies proved useful. With the aid of a small contingent of a citizen militia joining from the evacuation zone in the Zero District, force in the Third District toppled their clustered enemies; the ambush unit’s efforts managed to keep the enemy’s rear guard surprised long enough to break through to join the main force.

Strategy, it seemed, was about to win the day for the Armies of Light.

    Last Ditch Effort

The battle against the enemy’s third wave ended in victory for Faust’s army. Through his army’s resilience and strategy, the day was won. However, one look beyond the walls and the broken gate revealed that a fourth wave was preparing to mount the final assault on the town. Had Faust’s army been larger, he would have stood ground and defended Traverse Town from Third District and Zero District. But that wasn’t in the cards. With less than one thousand troops left at his disposal, and the militia evacuated in the lull after the third wave, Faust resolved to take the battle into a final a stand.

He moved his forces to the First District, setting up his last line of defense at the broken gate. There, his force, then consisting of five hundred warriors, used another bottlenecking tactic, meeting the Dark Army as it moved to enter the town. All the while, they maintained position just inside of the wall in effort to force their enemy’s hand into only sending so many troops in at once. But the overwhelming tide against them pushed the small unit back into the district, allowing more invaders to flood in.

At that point, the battle was resolved as a lost cause. Yet, as Faust ordered, the Army of Light took “as many of them with them as they could.”

    Death and Rebirth

At the end of the day, Faust Bage was the last man standing amid the slew of standing foes and fallen comrades. Within his Heart, Darkness had formulated from his rage and frustration at his commander for having left him against such odds, costing the lives of an entire world’s worth of military. This proved to be his final downfall. As he continued to stave off the invasion single-handedly, he took blade to his Heart. The Darkness within him welled up. He tried to use that Darkness for his own gain, to try and take an upper hand. But his Light could not support the Darkness that had grown within. After one, last, howling blast of power, Faust Bage fell to the ground. His Heart tore out of his body, surrounded by the very Darkness that had taken it.

    He was dead…

    Or was he?

Not long after his apparent death, Faust found himself floating through a void, feeling strangely… empty. He heard a voice in the distance, disembodied yet somehow still resonating through the space, or lack thereof. “You’re Nobody now, Faust Bage. And as such, you work for me.”

After some time drifting through that void, he was spat out of that void, and into the Realm of Darkness. Different in appearance and lacking his Heart, his memories remained in tact. He was unaware of the cruel irony that his King had heard of his plight and sent reinforcements to aid him; they had arrived shortly after his defeat, flushing out the Dark Army and retaking Traverse Town. His thoughts only drifted towards one thing: Exacting justice; upon the Realm of Darkness for their greed, and upon the Realm of Light for their lack of urgency that left his entire army dead. Adopting the moniker of “Nils” in expression of his practically non-existent nature, he scoured the Realms of Light and Darkness in search of recruits to aid him in his exacting of justice.

Weapon: Touch of the Void - When Faust's Heart was consumed and taken by the Darkness, something went wrong. The Darkness was able to rip the Heart from his body. What it couldn't seem to do was take the Heart unto itself. In the final seconds of his fall, Faust's Heart managed to formulate a defensive measure, gathering the very essence of his Light. Encased in and filled with this Light as a protection, the Heart has persisted, drifting through parts unknown.

Somehow, Nils has managed to reestablish some connection to his old Heart, which is, in itself, reaching out for its former owner. Through this connection, Nils is able to continue the summoning of a Keyblade. The Keyblade, however, has changed in form and on many accounts function. Now taking a form inherent of the Realm of Nothingness, Touch of the Void stems many of the old magic an abilities, channeling them through the Realm of Nothingness, imbuing and amplifying traditional applications with the the essence of Naught.

    Powers & Abilities:
Rendered by the Realm of Nothingness to carry with him the essence of Naught itself, Nils stands as an antithesis to existence. With the powers of Light and Darkness being the prominent essences of existence or the root natures of life, Naught is then the essence of non-existence and the nature of death. Expressed as a neutralized force or energy, Naught functions as null against the elements of existence; as Darkness meeting an equal amount of Light will result in a cancellation, so too would a matched exertion of Nothingness serve to undo a force of Light, Darkness or any other energy or force projected against it.

Nils, as the product of a Realm and essence to which notions of time and space have little to no meaning, is unbound by such forces. He is ageless (thus his young appearance despite his actual age) and is unaffected by such magic as relating to time. He is able to freely travel throughout the Realms almost instantaneously, even without the use of actual portals. As of now, he is the only person understood to have access to enter the Realm of Nothingness.

Nils projects this power in many of the common forms, in particular using projectiles of a sort of anti-energy and as fields, shields and base forms of telekinesis. To take a blast of Nothingness or meet a shield of it directly is to subject oneself to direct unraveling as its power results in the negation of the existent forces that bind the physical energy and material of the Realms together.

Weakness: Nils is working against the clock these days, even with his timeless nature. The Realm of Nothingness is being slowly phased from the cosmic makeup of the universe. Because of the formation of the Realm of Twilight, in which the forces of Light and Darkness have been able to coexist peacefully without actually negating each other and rebuffing the void, the Realm of Nothingness is losing ground and power. Nils alone is aware of this fact. The stronger the Realm of Twilight grows, the weaker the Realm of Nothingness becomes. Nils' ability to stem his Realm's power fluctuates based on this condition. As with the Realm of Darkness in the old days, the Realm of Nothingness needs sustenance to continue on. When Nils renders something or someone unto Naught, it assimilates into that Realm, thus providing it power proportional to that which was undone. Nils must be at constant work to maintain himself and his Realm, or otherwise see it and himself fade away.

The perfect character for the head Merc role. Obviously accepted Wayward, and everyone. Curtis, could you put up an alternative picture for Gabriel? One without the armor? Besides that, great characters guys. Just so everyone knows, what with a Merc of light, a Merc over reign of Naught, I believe it'd be only fitting for one of darkness. Just letting that be known to anyone considering the role.

Would be greatly appreciated Curtis, and thank again Abyss for saying you'd change it :D And Sho, your character is "royalty" but he's a creation, so I can't see how Kaldus made you a Keyblade when he himself does not own one. Or how anyone made a Keyblade for you.

I've actually been thinking about that ever since you posted Valdus without a Keyblade. I've come up with a few solutions, the most prominent being that he just found it on a dead body and took it as his own. Honestly, I may take his keyblade away altogether if I can't think of some viable way he could have one.
