Simply put, this is a debate on what true human nature is.

    NO FRIGGIN' RELIGION IN

    THIS THREAD.

Keep religion and theology to the RELIGION debate, thank you!

It'll be a little hard to not bring theology in this debate. Without it, nobody can truly debate that human nature is not evil. Trust me, I had to debate this in Government class a few months ago.

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

human nature is flawed. we are overly curious and destructive. those that are too curious either get themselves killed or somehow kill others.
those that are destructive are why we have wars.

humans can never have true everlasting peace or understanding because of or own flawed natures. anytime we have peace, we start a new war. anytime we reach an understanding we go and find something new to disprove it.

Human nature can be weird. They can think up of the weirdest thing in their heads that don't even make since. Even I'm to blame for this. Every time I see Moog's av, I make fun of it & take out it's eyeballs & then think of playing ping pong with Moog's head. Then i think of Yukou dancing on top of the table & fall on right through. Seriously, human nature can have a weird mind like that.

    Your just nuts Summoner.

Human nature isn't all bad. We also have the ability to create beautiful things as well as cause destruction. Look at art. We also love and befriend, or we wouldn't get along here. Yes we don't really think about things, and it seems that the greedy get into power way to easily, but if just once we all had good leaders, well, that could change the world for the better.

Which reminds me. I never posted what my opinion is.

I agree with Mike. That human nature is not good, evil, or neutral.

I'll try to sum it up as I remember it. Human nature is not good because we do evil things. Human nature is not evil because we do good things. Human nature is not neutral because that would mean that everybody's good and evil actions balance eachother out every day.

Make a line. In the center is zero. Then 1 through 10 to the right and left. Good actions move you to the right. Evil actions move you to the left. If human nature was neutral, then our actions would bring us to the center each day.

Human nature is kind of an empty expression/distinction to me. There really is no "nature" as to how human's are except that they will typically have two eyes, two ears, some body hair, skin, mouths to feed and organs to get rid of bodily waste. These are just physical expectations, of course.

The real debate is the behavior, which as I've already said, is sort of empty as well. Your physical outcome is more likely to give you the propensity to act a certain way, in combination with your environment and the way you are raised and such. No human, imo, is born "angry" or is born a "shy guy." It is probably just the way they have learned to interact with others based on an upbringing of some kind. Or maybe they just prefer being quiet.

Biologically nothing can be "nature" in terms of what you need to do behaviorally. You have a penis? Great. It goes in a vagina. That's your nature, and it doesn't take much ingenuity to figure it out; you aren't told that's how it works by your brain and it isn't "instinct" because if you had instinct you'd essentially automatically have a form of communication. You are given the tools but it is a matter of being taught how to use things.

In the same ways, not everyone can therefore be born "smart." That's a matter of intuition and it is far more complex in terms of your imagination than anything you can mention in terms of nature (although nature is fairly complex as it is). Also in a related subject the good/evil kind of thing. I won't even really talk about it because it is so made-up. All I can really say is it is a sad thing that we had to invent an endless (endless because it is intuitively fabricated) paradox like this.

John Locke was, among many of the other 'enlightened' folk, a fairly deep individual. He made a lot of philosophical and sociological discoveries but he wasn't at all progressive. In a lot of ways he made things a lot more cataclysmic because the same problems he found solutions for are still having problems (primarily in terms of society).

Everyone's capable of loving and destroying.
Then, eating, drinking, relieving wastes, breathing, thinking, and feeling emotions - automatically come with the package.

I think that human 'nature' just comes down to the basics in terms of what we do all of the time, or most of it without really putting too much thought into it.

I think human nature is a disgusting, evil, twisted, selfish thing that should be erased. I used to always believe humans in general were good and that we were on the right side but now I see humans as evil, selfish, ignorant, cruel, greedy creatures.

I used to think of humans as beings striving for peace. But all I can see that humans truly desire is chaos. That is why if I had the power I would destroy human nature itself so that we would never do anything bad ever again.

I mean everyday someone is killed by someone else, some mother kills her child, some crazy guy bombs someplace yet people live their life like nothing is wrong. It makes me sick.

All humans are is monsters, cruel sick, twisted monsters, with no morals and no concious and I hate hate hate hate hate being a human.

I mean does it not make anyone else angry when you see on the news a child raped and killed?

Every night I stay up for hours thinking about all the little aborted babies, if only I could, I would hug everyone of them so they would know I care, I wish I could heal the sick, I wish I could give aid to the poor and the homeless. If only I had the power to do all of this I would gladly sacrifice everything else to do so.

But humans don't care about anyone else but themselves. Humans are evil and so is human nature. The only conclusion I can come to is that human beings are evil at their very core, that is the true essence of a human being, evil.

    Human nature = Evil.

    OH stop it.

Get enough money and move to somewhere else or try to get out of that state of mind.
    People die every day.
    People get killed.
    People suffer.

But even though we're capable of doing evil things, not all of us choose to.

Usually, I thought that human nature was somewhat foolish. I mean, we are greedy and we can be narcasistic. We also run on instinct which is highly unnecessary. I'm just saying what I think of course.

Yes we are all capable of doing evil things but what I want is I want to take away our capability to do evil things. I don't want us to even have the ability to do evil. I wish there was a way that I could be forced to never think, attempt, or do anything evil again. I would love to be forced to be good all the time because that would mean I have reached perfection.

How can you enjoy knowing people suffer, you don't feel any sadness at all?

We're only more intelligent animals who have stronger emotions and logical capabilities.
We all mistakes, we learn, we love, we endure, we yearn, we suffer.

We were never meant to be perfect.
    Nature is not perfect.

Sadness? Again, part of human nature. I kinda want to break the nature we are stuck in. Can you guys actually be happy having this kind of nature where you can be greedy, twisted and corrupted? Well I'm not really that happy about it. Should we really accept it?

Then let's be forced to be perfect. I'd rather throw my free will away as long as it makes me perfect, if that is what it takes to become a perfect being then fine, I will gladly give up free will.

Soul. I get what hes saying but don't be like that. We aren't perfect. Its just a false dream that we try to pursue. Its basicly Godhood, which is out of our reach. I get what he was saying.

There'd be no point in living if everything came easy, everything was always okay, and you'd never have to worry about anything. "If the stream has no stones, the stream has no song."
