How physical is a Keyblade?

Riku was able to (briefly) take Sora's.. but still it flip flops, is a keyblade a physical object that happens to bond with a particular owner.

or is it a true manifestation of a persons heart...

    It seems to flip flop

Being that it does flip flop between users, then all evidence considered it would be a physical objects that bonds with its owner. Riku was able to wield the Kingdom Key for that period, and just the same was able to later wield his own when he fought Sora. Plus to mention the different versions of the Keyblade that can be obtained throughout the game.

I'd imagine that if the Keyblade WAS merely in outward inflection of peoples' hearts, then it probably wouldn't be nearly as much of a legendary weapon as it is. Scores more people would have one, and it wouldn't be so easily changed/upgraded, as that would require a significant change in the heart.

The Keyblade being a "man made counterpart of Kingdom Hearts". It is very much physical. As Wayward has said, the Keyblade is constantly altered depending on the Heart or Memories (Keychains). As for it changing users, I believe anyone with a strong heart is capable of wielding a keyblade even if it isn't theirs. How else would you explain Ansem's apprentice moving Aqua's armor and keyblade.

That's because the Kingdom Key was originally Riku's keyblade. When Riku took the keyblade from Sora, Riku's heart was stronger than Sora for that moment. But as he sank further into darkness, the keyblade went back to Sora... Again. Angel should be able to give a better explanation.

Aqua being in the Realm of Darkness and her armor/keyblade being in the realm of light caused them to be separated to the point where Aqua couldn't summon them would be my guess. That, or Aqua entrusted her armor and keyblade to Terra's body to protect the body.

    ???
In Birth by Sleep, Ansem finds Xehanort with no recollection of his past. He orders one of the apprentices to take Aqua's armor and keyblade inside.

oh lol i was like moving=using.. sorry...
anyways i think it's because of aqua being in the realm of darkness, although armor and keyblade were in the realm of light.
think there could be similarities with lingering will... manifesting physically through her wish of protecting her friends. just not as strong as in terra's case...
