    {{Destiny's Calling..}}

Have you ever felt like you were meant for something more?

Like the path you're on isn't for you...?

Why are you who you are?

The questions we have to answer throughout our lives that make us feel alone....but we never are. There are more of us. Hundreds. Thousands, maybe more. People who are "different", "special". People with powers that can't seem to be explained in any other way than a gift from God. For some they seem like a curse, but I'm convinced these powers are meant to do good, not evil.

There are some people who don't believe any good can come from them. They hunt us, think of us more like animals than humans. And if we don't stick together, they will take us down one by one.

So we must come together and fight back. It's the only way we can ever hope for a normal life. Don't give up because it's more than just you're life on the line.

"Goodnight Mom, Dad.." Those were the last words Aaron had said to his parents before leaving, that and he gave his little sister a kiss goodnight. He had left a note on the kitchen counter saying were he would be, what hotel he was going to, and even which airlines he was taking. Otherwise guilt would have stopped him from even leaving, which for whatever reason, he had to do. It only made matters worse when his little eight-year-old sister walked in while he was writing the note. He couldn't stop thinking of her sad little face on the flight over.
He sighed when the flight attendant came over the intercom and announced to fasten their seat belts.
"This'll be a new beginning..." He whispered to himself closing his eyes. It was a habit of his whenever a plane took off. He loved the feeling of defying the very nature of gravity and liked to live it in the moment.

"Hey, wake up sleepy head," Shane felt something cold and hard whack him in the face,"It's time to close up."
"Ouch.." Shane groaned slowly sitting up and looked up at Rebbecca.
"Keep this up and you'll be out of a job again."
He had finally gotten a job at his dojo , and had somehow fallen asleep again.
"Same time as yesterday too." he sighed, a smile playing on his lips.
Rebbecca was always giving him a hard time, and always got mad at him for stupid things, but she never could stay mad for long. She was his sensei's daughter, and no matter what crap she put him through, he couldn't be mean to her if he wanted to keep his job.
"I think I'll hang around for a while longer. Practice some stuff." Shane shrugged vaguely.
Rebbecca rolled her eyes, "Just lock up when your done."
Shane nodded, still groggy from sleep. Rebbecca turned around and accidentally knocked into a man in a black hat and brown leather coat.
"Excuse me.." The man said politely taking off his hat. Rebbecca gave a sarcastic smile.
    "You're excused."
That got a chuckle out of Shane. Rebbecca left the dojo with one last look over her shoulder, her face was an expression mixed with sarcasm, and a shadow of questioning and of fear. Once Rebbecca left, the man looked over at Shane, a few strands of his neatly combed blond hair falling into his face.
"Can I help you?" Shane recomposed himself and asked trying to put on his 'talking to a customer' voice.
"Yes, I believe you can." The man said in a low voice, a strange smile slowly stretching across his face. He reached into the inner pocket of his brown leather coat pocket pulling out a gun.

  3. Leonardo walked along the streets of the city and looked around with his hands in his pocket. He had traveling for five days and was starting to get tired. As he walked around he spotted two guys looking around the corner, obviously up to no good. He frowned and continued to walk while keeping an eye on them. After a few moments he heard a yelp. His eyes widened as he saw the men pull out a gun at the girl.

He darted across the street and leaped narrowly over a car. He bursted through the door and the man aimed at him, "What the hell?!" He fired but Leo was too quick. He dodged left and ducked under the man's attempted pistol whip. He crouched and pushed off with his feet and unleashed a strong uppercut into the man's gut. He doubled over and he hit him again, sending him down on the ground. He grabbed the gun and aimed it at his head and the man looked at him in fear and scrambled back. He looked into his eyes with hatred and prepared to pull the trigger.

Shane took a step back with eyes widened as the events unfolded. Thank God Rebbecca left...Who are these guys? he thought uneasily. A moment later Shane snapped back into reality. Before he realized what he doing he took a step in front of the blond guy, who looked about his age, reached his hand out to lower his gun.
It was the strangest sensation. Why in the world would he want to save the man who just pulled a gun to him? He had seen people die before, why would this stranger be any different?
"You don't want to do that." Shane said stolidly.
Out of the corner of his eye the man was slowly backing toward the door.
"Hold it." He said with the slightest edge of malice, dashing between the door and the man. The strange man didn't even try to stop him, he only grinned and glanced between Leo and Shane.
    "Who ARE you?"

"Come on Christina hurry up!!! We'll be late if we don't leave in five minutes!!" Christina's mom roared. She was in one of her moods again, and it didn't help matters that Darren, Christina's elder brother, was about to have an interview with a some country music magazine that was interested in "their family history". She had feeling it was nothing but bull shit but her parents thought otherwise.
"Fi-," she stopped her self from saying five more minutes, knowing that would only make matters worse. Sluggishly she rolled out of bed and threw back on her best blue jeans, ( the only ones without holes), a new shirt, and her lucky key-necklace.
"I knew I shouldn't have taken a nap." She grumbled fixing a few stray curls in her dark auburn hair. She ran downstairs and grabbed a leftover slice of pizza for dinner. "We're driving down to Memphis tomorrow you know." her dad stated fixing his shirt. He knew how she hated traveling everyday.
"How wonderful. Memphis here I come!" she grinned.

  5. Leo was about to pull the trigger when he was hit by the man. He flew back into the merchandise and landed on his back. "Ah . . . bastard." he said clenching his teeth. He got up and ran at the man and held up his fist. He began to unleash a simple one-two combo to his head then crouched slightly and pounded him in the stomach, sending him back but not down on the ground. He looked at the robber trying to reach for the gun. Leo rolled over and picked up the gun and pulled the trigger. He hit the man in the leg and he bellowed in pain. "AGH AGH AGHAHAHAAAGAGAHAGAG!!! YOU LITTLE SHIT!!!" he screamed, grasping his thigh.

Shane flinched when he heard the crash of the glass over the merchandise counter and the unmistakable sound of a trigger pulled.
"Sensei's gonna kill me.." he murmured, dashing behind the strange man and placing him in a guillotine submission hold. He didn't loosen an inch until he slowly felt the man slink out of consciousness.
Shane stood up and looked at Leo. "You didn't have to pull the trigger you know. It would have only taken a few more seconds to get him under." he said surveying the damage.
"Who are you? " he said scooting the man's unconscious body into the office area.

  7. Leo looked in the man's eye defiantly and said, "Yes, such a smart move, have the man that tried to kill you live on! He's a criminal, a filthy criminal......" He looked down and looked back up. "My name Leonardo Butcher, simply call me Leo, it would make things a lot easier." He looked around at the scattered merchandise. "I'm sorry about your items. I'll fix them for you."

Shane buried his hands into his pants pockets and chuckled with his back to Leo
"Yeah, your probably right.." he shrugged.
But I have to know why he was even here in the first place....He didn't even look toward the register,so I doubt he was interested in money.. he thought pensively.
"But..I don't think that was a robber." he turned and faced Leo with the friendliest smile he could muster, which didn't really say much.
"I'm Shane, so.....what made you just bust in here anyway?" he asked slightly suspicious.

  9. Leo stopped for a minute with placing the various snacks and holiday cards in their rightful places and looked over his shoulder. "That man . . ." he began and continued to put things away, cleaning and neatening, "that man was going to pull the trigger . . . He was a murderer . . . I made promise to myself a long time ago: to never stand still and see someone else be a victim . . . It's been that way for a long time, and it'll stay that way." He finished putting things away very neatly and stood up.

He looked at Shane with somewhat dark eyes. "You might have heard of me on the news. I'm the vigilante that goes around killing criminals . . . I'm Leonardo Butcher . . . one of the most wanted by the law. I've been going from place to place, taking out criminals and making people feel safe . . . or at least I think so. I've been on the road for several weeks and I was passing by and saw the man pointing a gun at you. So that's when I decided, I would continue my serivces in this city until its people feel safe again."

Shane listened quietly as he grabbed a musty old broom from the cleaning closet. He walked over to the merchandise area next to Leo and swept up the sharp shards of glass left as the remains of the display counter.
"Sounds very noble of you..... But sometimes the intent and circumstances behind the crime is more important than the crime itself. Not all criminals deserve to die. A lot do, but some are only driven to it when its their last resort.." He trailed off.
"What if you made a mistake, and someone deemed you not worthy of living anymore only because of that mistake. Things change. People make mistakes, I know I have a huge share of them." He stopped sweeping the glass remnants and looked up at Leo.
"What if you did kill that man, what give you the right to play God on who deserves life and who deserves death?" he eyes smoldered. As much as he didn't want to admit it, he knew that he secretly was referring to himself.

  11. Leo looked over his shoulder and looked at the man with a certain hatred. "If I commited a crime, the only crime I would be guilty of is not doing what my father would have wanted me to do . . . After he died . . . I began to notice that I began to feel different . . . in the day, my hands burned, but I saw no burns. In the night, my hands froze, but I saw no freezing . . ." he looked at the ground and then back at him. His right hand glowed with black smoke and his left hand glowed with white light.

"So I figured it all out . . . the devil had my father killed . . . God saw my plight . . . and he had given me the ability to fight the devil and his comrades of lust, envy, pride, wrath, gluttony, greed, and sloth with the power of the way things are in life . . . Black and White, light and dark.

Shane briefly widened his eyes, but then chuckled.
"If you haven't noticed, life's not exactly black and white. There's also many shades of gray......which it seems like you live in that very gray area your life resides in you just can't seem to grasp..."
Shane reached in front of him and lightly snapped his fingers. Instantly a small controlled flame appeared in the palm of his hand.
"In fact.....you're the one becoming the murderer when you kill those people....What? Did you think your the only one with special abilities? Hyped up genetics? No..."
he walked over to the open office door where the strange man lay unconscious and pointed to the limp figure.
"And honestly, I think that these powers have something to do with this man holding a gun to my head!"

  13. Leonardo ignored the words of Shane and stared at the unconscious man and spoke again, "Yes, something has given us these powers. I'm sure that there are many others like us, maybe even more of us. We should search for them. I feel something coming, something omnious." He watched as the police came into the shop and took the man and spoke again, "May I . . . may I have a place to stay?"

Shane kept a steady gaze on Leo.
"You really think I'd let you stay at my house?" he laughed silently to himself.
"Well, I can't believe I"m doing this but....sure, but first let's get this guy to the cops." He made his way to the dojo's office and warily slid open the door. "Shit..." he cursed under his breath and turned to Leo wide eyed.
    "He's gone."

    * * *

  15. Leonardo ran out of the door past Shane to see what had just happened. He saw the tracks of the man but they had disappeared. The only thing that was visible was the passing of cars and people looking at him as they past the shop. He went back inside and closed the door, looking down and speaking, "I'm sorry for what happened, I was careless. I assumed that the man had been completely out cold, forgive me." He placed his hands behind his back and looked away from Shane in shame.

Shane shook his head. "Chill dude, we both did." He stated folding his arms.
"I'll find him. After all, things around here were getting a little too boring anyway.." he grinned devilishly and started switching off the lights.
    "Comm'on, I gotta lock up."

David stumbled over a trash can as he rounded the corner of the nearest alley. The ground seemed to move underneath his feet as a vicious cough shook through him as he collapsed onto his knees. His heartbeat pounded within his head. Slowly, he slumped against one wall of the narrow alley.
"Damn kid.." He breathed, still gasping for air from the quick getaway. He shook his head and chuckled to himself.
It's my own fault. he thought, That's what I get for being too hasty. He examined his bleeding knuckles and cut forearms. One particularly nasty cut on his left forearm would need stitches. He glanced out at the nearly empty streets.
"Looks like I'm paying someone a little visit." he said between clinched teeth as he yanked a sliver of glass out of his arm. Using his less injured arm, he supported himself as he stood up, brushing off his black hat and fixing his leather coat. Based outward appearance, no one could have guess he was in any form of fight.

  17. Leonardo took one last look out into the night and turned around. His thoughts went back to the moments before he had seen his father get shot. Before the horrible incident had happened, Leonardo had the chance to shoot the man from behind his father's bedroom door with his fathers gun. If he had been less hesitant then he may have been able to see the bright smile on his mother and father's faces when they would dance about while cooking breakfast in the kitchen.

He walked past Shane and his throat lumped up. He was about to burst out crying but never wanted to show his vulnerability to Shane, it was too embarrassing.

Shane closed the door and locked it shut. The police had bombarded him with questions, as if he wasn't tired enough for one night. They finally had left to file the police report. Something in Shane's gut told him this wouldn't be the last he would hear from them any time soon.
He gave Leo a side glace.
"You okay man?" he asked popping up the hood up his jacket and shoving his hands into the pockets. He was pretty shaken up from the events of the night, but mostly through the exhilaration, not so much the fear. From time to time he would have his "adrenaline junkie" tendencies, but this was something completely new, as if he was stepping into an entirely new world.

  19. Leo swallowed the lump and waved to him, fronting a very believable but false smile. "Yes, I am fine. So where may I sleep? I wouldn't want to be a burden to you after what happened today." He was glad to have met someone he could feel slightly comfortable with. All of the killing he had been taking place with was starting to get to his head, he needed rest . . . and lots of it.

Shane chuckled as he climbed up the steps to his apartment. He had been living by his self for a while now, and his land lord was stoned half the time. A lot of the reason Shane decided to stay sober amidst a world of druggies and dropouts was because he had seen what they did to their lives.
"You'll probably need to go with the coach." He said pushing the heavy door. A few flakes of navy paint shook off as the door swung open.
"Sorry....This is kinda all I can afford." Shane said a little self conscious. He wasn't particularly used to company of any sort, especially strangers. His apartment was small, musty, yet somewhat neat. It had a main room, and tiny bedroom, and a decently sized bathroom. The gray carpet was dirty and had the occasional unidentifiable stain.
Shane tossed his bag into the corner,
" Get some rest, I donno know about you, but tomorrow I'm catching some mysterious hat guy." he said with a devilish grin.
