Halloween Bash! Zhyriad vs. GrandShadow; Antonius Saint-Saëns; Marko Sangrovic

The grounds of the mansion were as still as could be expected when Antonius had arrived. Silently, slowly, and by all means undisturbed, he walked along the front path, rustling the fallen leaves around the compacted dirt road. The combined effect of every aspect of his trek to the mansion would have been overtly obvious to anyone who could have seen it. A decrepit mansion at the end of a dirt lane flanked by bare-branched trees, and a man draped by a friar’s robes wearing his hood up over his face was the sort of thing that the cinema would have swallowed whole.

With each light stride that Antonius took, he could feel his spirit being pulled even closer, as though the house itself were a magnet. He could tell just by the exterior that it was a place that had seen better days. Such places, he knew, would almost always have a stronger tie to the spirits. The place might have seen the death of its once proud owners, and their souls still lingering between life and death. He’d be at home at such a place, if his expectations were met. And even if he was left in disappointment, he at least had a free living space for the night.

Reaching the front door, he graciously let himself in. “Hello?” he called, in a rather hoarse and tried voice. It was a simple check, banking on the idea that a person in the building who posed no immediate threat would be quick to answer the call. Otherwise, caution would be a necessity as he pressed forward.​
