Fixing economy

Propose a plan to fix our economy, list pro's and cons.

I have recently heard that globalization and socialist ideals are sweeping the majority of people's minds (due to various factors, such as increase in technology, and a dominant Democrat government). I personally am against such ideas, heres why:
    1. Globablization implies a group of nations, or one nation, governing everything else. This "One World" type of view gives way to extinction of culture, extinction of individuality, and extinction of much American freedom. America stands as the colony that broke away. We were different, we ARE different, and by denying the rights and freedoms we enjoy as Americans because we take them for granite. When what we don't understand is that so many other countries WANT what WE HAVE!!!! Thats why they want to come here in the first place. If they thought their own country was so much better, then they would've stayed there. But what has been a problem here in America for like ever? IMMIGRATION!!
So what does that say? Really? What does it mean?! It means we have one hell of a country, so why would we want to ruin that. We the people have the power in this nation, we the people ARE this nation, and we the people are Americans. Why would you want to be anything different? Honestly, who wouldn't want to stand for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness?
    2. By entering a globalized world we basically are owned by the grouped government, we are no longer america, we are everybody else. First off, why would we want to help/back up Europe (who has been starting this "unity" trend since we beat them in the Revolution)? They are our GREATEST ENEMY!!!! We can trade with them, i'm not saying we cant do that. Trade and globalization are two different things. You can be a diplomatic nation and trade without globalization.

  2. GrandShadow

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

lol, if you think we're enemies with Great Britain then you are sadly mistaken. we've been allies for decades.

my plan to fix the economy is to do just as most econimists are saying: spend. seriously, an economy fails when people stop spending. cause then stocks fall which scares people into spending even less. to counteract it we just need to spend a little more.

i'm not saying don't save money or anything but spend a little more than normal and slowly but surely, our economy will come back stronger then ever.

That's easy to say when you have some money to spend. But if you're like a lot of us, living paycheck to paycheck, there's not a whole lot left over after bills to go spend.

    Lol Socialist Ideals?
And Globilazation has been going on for the past half century.
Globilazation is when countries start moving around in an ellipse of trade and commerce.
    Hence the 'Made In China.'

Where have YOU been in your history class?

People come here to get jobs because we're the current dominant empire.
But in the next couple of years, we're going to be surpassed by India and China.
We're only ahead because of the fact that we have the strongest military in the world, and because we've been parading ourselves around as international bullies through out the 1900's.

The Empire is about to tank, fall, and we're going to have to start learning Indian and Chinese because those two economies are radically surpassing us. Our era is ending.

I don't really know how much information your education system is allowed to give you.
But the people aren't actually in control of who's put in power. Private organizations fund campaigns, and the campaign with the most donations/money ends up getting elected. Obama only won because the media adored him because he was a radical change compared to Bush, and he had the biggest ship of donations from private companies.

    The people don't run america.
Even though we 'should,' Money's been in charge of this country for a very long time.
    Wall Street demons.

    Europe is not our enemy.
Europe has always been our ally post the revolution. We are not the best, most unified, or 'dominant' country in every area. Europe is ridiculously ahead of us in terms of serving its people properly, with technology, industry, etc.

America is a massively dependent country.
We don't make our own products. Other countries do because American companies force workers in other countries to make the things we cherish, or are common around us.

We also rely on the trends of international markets in order to spur the successes of our own.

    Um...no.
What got us in this mess was a combination of the people spending more than what they had, the country spending more than what it had, and spending over a trillion dollars a year in the war in the Middle East.

    Spending destroys us.

Not to mention that no one really HAS that kind of money to spend anymore.
Poverty rates are soaring and unemployment is more common than ever because companies don't want to hire American workers because the companies don't like or want to pay us. So they go overseas where people are forced to do it, or do it for less than a few cents an hour.

    America is in massive debt.
If China suddenly decides to stop helping us, we are FUCKED.
China makes most of our stuff, and we owe them so much money that its astronomical.
    Trillions.

America's era is going to end by 2012. To be honest, I think that's what they meant by THAT particular year signifying the 'end of the world.' It isn't necessarily the 'end' of the earth, but rather its the end of the current leader 'of' the world itself. Since America was dominant in industries, the fact that other countries are passing it up means that its going to change everything.

    Jesus christ..

America began by breaking away and fighting Great Britan. We might be their friends in the last hundred years, but before that they were our enemy.

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhm. Go Toph.

A slow globalization has been going on, but i'm talking about the radical switch, like our government making it more public. I agree with you on everything, and I think globalization has a lot to do with 2012, but my whole point is that we need to stop it. We need to preserve America. We as the people need to fight for what this country once was.

Our country grew up from slavery and the only reason 'America' exists today is because private company owners over in Britain sent their companies over here in order to expand business. We only 'broke away' from Britain when they tried to tax us from across an ocean. We never technically departed from anything. It was basically us saying 'fuck you' to a tiny country trying to tax us over the Atlantic.

Saying that Britain is our enemy is beyond retarded.
They haven't done anything to us. And this country's already 'established' our own version of a monarchy. Our president isn't a beacon of light for the free world.

As the current most powerful country, he's basically the king of an empire, and the world is technically at our feet.

We don't have much to be proud of. We aren't preserving anything from converting America into an Isolationist. We're destroying it because everything we are relies on how much we force people to work for us overseas because our company owners and CEO's are too greedy to let our own workers do labor from minimum wage.

    GrandShadow I accept your challange.

i don't even have a paycheck right now.

@autopsy: true spending what we didn't have got us into thus mess. perhaps i should've been clearer, i meant that those with thier own money should spend a little. while those of us in debt should first pay off said debts

I was speaking in general, not to you specifically. At least around here, most people are scraping together every last penny, and a lot of people are unsure as to the stability of their jobs. No one's very eager to go out and spend money that they could be saving for an emergency.

    A. the south made most of it's money off of slavery, not America as a whole.
    B. we beat Britain in a war. I dont think the people who died to make this country a reality would want us, the youth of America some hundreds of years later to want to take that for granite. We didnt just say fuck you. We said fuck you, and then we beat the shit out of them.
    C. dont call me retarded. THAT is just dumb in any debate. Dont call people names. You can say you disagree, but you complain about others calling eachother names all the time. Dont be a hypocrite.
    D. We dont have a monarchy. The Supreme Court has lost power, yes, but COngress and the President are like a fuding couple. Almost ALL the TIME.
    E. If we become isolationists, then we can fix our own problems here in America, such as the increase in unemployment, our national debt (HUGE), poverty, gang wars, drug wars, and illegal immigrant issues. We have a lot of issues for a country that does so much for the world. Some "empire" we are.
    F. And YOU shouldnt be proud that we have such reliance overseas. Its almost like you agree with it, or if i am mistaken there, then you at least accept it. We cant accept it. We need the government and the people of america to wake up and try to fix everything before it falls right in front of our face. We need to wean ourselves off of China and India, we need to get out of Foreign Relations, and we need to FIX US. How else are we going to stop ourselves from failing as a country? How? Its almost as if you have no hope Autopsy? You dont see a future in AMerica. Well....I wont give up on America. And honestly, I dont think I'm alone. There are a LOT of pissed off people out there. A lot.

If you dont even have a paycheck, then why are you talking like you know what income flow is? Do you have a job? LIke a real job? I'm guessing not. So you dont know what its like. Its easy to be an idealist when your a young teen, but once you have to rely on yourself for everything, everyone deep down is a Capatilist pig. You'll realize that soon i guess.

The Supreme Court hasn't lost power. Technically, they're the most powerful branch of the government. And I'm guessing that the word I bolded is supposed to be feuding?

Isolationism is something that would help. But we've gotten too deep into global affairs for us to get out. The world is becoming one where you cannot be isolated from the rest of it.

But there's not enough people to do the right thing. Really sad. If there were enough people like me, and we all got into the government positions, we could really change things for the better.

Gotta love how everybody seems so pessimistic about Capitalism. True, there's bad things about it. But there are positive things that nobody seems to be willing to look at (And I'm guessing somebody's gonna ask me "Like what?" about what I just said).

  12. Mythril Roxas

    Mythril Roxas New Member

you should explain them better so we dont have to assume.

The way things were originally set up was so that the Supreme Court had a lot of power, but now-a-days I dont really think they do. It seems they are slowly going away, not literally, but in importance in the government.

and we can never rule any option out. Isolationism may be radical, yes. But a slow and steady turn for isolationism wouldn't be bad. We have spread ourselves to thin, we need to bring our soldiers back out of all of these other countries, and we should fight gang wars and drug wars here in AMerica in the big cities. Because any war fought on the enemies territory IS the enemies war, because they know the terrain better. The only time we've ever fought on our own land we pwned, and that was the Revolution. Yeah, it was over 200years ago, but imagine wat we can do now compaired to what we could do then. If we become a more isolated militant country, then no one will step foot on American soil with hostility. Thats wat i believe anyway. I think we can still have free trade, and i still think we can be a diplomatic country without getting involved with odd agenda's that some European governments seem to have.

There are a lot of mad people. If we can use that hatred for good, then we can do a lot more than we could ever imagine. We are an unpredictable race. Don't put doubt on human limitation. because my hope is in the good of us, the good of humanity.

And the capatalist pig thing was a joke. I am for capatilism. All for it. You earn wat you deserve. But its funny how younger people seem to think that if everything was equal, then the world would be good and everything will be great, and there will be "peace". But when they get older, they want money to go and do things, and when they dont have that money they just seem to blaim it on the system. But really, its just their selfishness. Everyone wants to win the lottery, everyone wants to be rich. And that makes everyone wat? capatilist pigs. Cause everyone is greedy. Most people just wont admit it to themselves just yet.

-hasn't read any of the posts in this thread, but is giving opinion on "fixing the economy"-

The economy can't be "fixed." The economy's only cure is to put more fake money into the principle money already in existence. Which, at most, makes the "big crash" prolonged. Eventually it won't matter how much money we have and how much debt we've gotten rid of (it's impossible to get completely out of debt in this system, due to the Federal Reserve).

The economy can be fixed, its all in the numbers, it just might take a few years of really hard work for the government. Its called "saving". Maybe you've never heard of the principle, but it can save us from this recession. Supply Side economics, if applied properly, can get us out of national debts and it could drastically decrease our deficit. So much, eventually, that we will be saving money to pay off the natinoal debt. Government needs to STOP SPENDING!! the government probably spends more than the population as a whole!!! EVERY YEAR!!!!
If they stop, if Obama would really do something right and change this country, then we can keep ourselves from falling as a nation. It all starts with saving.

Mythril, you need to understand something -

America is already a very militant based nation, and has been adopting the title of the country with the 'strongest' military over the past 10 years. If we completely adopt isolationism, then people are going to become 'obligated' to go into the military, via drafting. Then funding is cut from other organizations that support our education, environment, and infrastructure in order to build on 'war.'

War never solves anything. It only kills people, destroys the environment, and causes deep rooted prejudices to develop between opposing countries. Then it becomes nearly impossible to forge any kind of compensation, trade, or peace.

Then, not everyone's cut out to go into the military. That not only applies to physical durability and perfection, but also because not everyone can handle developing intense psychological issues because enduring war based conditions including training focuses on making everything besides your comrades into the 'enemy.' Let me expand on that. If we head into an Isolationist complex and continue emphasizing war based machinery, then we're running ourselves further into the abyss with debt, and destroying generations because going into the army destroys your developed mentality.

It heightens the lengths you'd go to survive, sure.
But at the same time, it also causes you to become brutal, temperamental, schizophrenic, aggressive, and hostile towards anyone that doesn't share your beliefs or common traits because a war-like mentality forces you to convert everyone that isn't like 'you' immediately into the enemy.

Also, I hope you know that there never WERE any 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' in the Middle East.
America has ALWAYS had WMD's as on-fire, and on hand arsenals. It's been that way since the Cold War began. We went into the Middle East because we needed a scape goat and a fake reason to start stealing their natural resources and to give war-based industries an influx in revenue. Which is basically like tossing money into the change pursues of the wealthy, because their families are connected to that.

And no one really has any money TO save, because we have to buy things that we need out of necessity, like food, clothes, books, classes, colleges/universities, and taxes. We're being driven into a never ending hole here because we can only SAVE money when we have more than ENOUGH to support ourselves. Right now, hardly anyone does.

What I think America should do is actually pass the tests & Sat's. Seriously, LOOK AT CHINA!! Those Chinese kids can be close to the 100% marks & once they get a job over there at China, they can move over here in this country & get a lot of benefits here because of the money difference of the two countries. Not saying that America is dumb ruled by dumb people but America do need to step up in education in my opinion for the economy.

Way to pull something out of your ass. How are we going to be "obligated" to join the military? Isolationism doesnt = fascism. we need to get out of other countries business. Thats what we need to do. We need to pay off our own debts, we need to get out of stupid commitments to furthering a policing of the world, and we need to focus on ourselves, and perfecting our own country before we go about trying to "fix" other countries problems. Policing the world is no one's duty/responsibility/place. No one OWNS the world. Therefore we should not act like we own it. (Dont say "we know we dont own the world, we never said we have", but ACTIONS speak louder than words. And our actions say that we think [and Europe as well thinks] we own the world). We (America) can save our economy with Supply Side economics.

I know, and I'm against this, thats why I'm against most wars. But after wars we still have bases all over the world due to American Imperialism, and THAT takes up a lot of tax dollars to spend on every year. WE ARE STILL IN GERMANY BECAUSE OF WORLD WAR II!!!!! over 60 years of tax dollars WASTED. We have bases in over 100 countries, all of that payed for with wat? TAX DOLLARS!! GOvernment spending is KILLING our economy, we need to bring all our troops home, and MILITARILY we need to become isolationist....for a long time. I really dont think there is much reason for our troops to be ANYWHERE but here in AMerica.

None of that has anything to do with isolationism. I hope you like your ranting, becuz you went no where with it. I agree with everything you said already, so wat was the point?!

I agree with this sentiment, though I'm not sure how easy it would be for the government to do this. Even before the economy started to get noticably bad, I've thought that we could do better to worry about ourselves first. America will send millions of dollars in aid to other countries, forgetting that the people here are needy, too. But the idea that we need to police the rest of the world has been around so long that people just expect us to do it. Or so I think.

Being able to pass a standardized test means nothing. Instead of drilling students on how to pass state-mandated exams (which is what pretty much most of my high school experience felt like), schools should actually train people to be successful in the real world.

I put a lot of emphasis on the military taking over the US because..have you SEEN the state of the Criminal Justice system lately?

    It's pretty much self explanatory.
And we kinda already are a fascist empire.
We've been that way for a while.

There is no way that we can become an Isolated nation because nearly all of our products that we have are made in other countries. Hello, 'Made in Taiwan, Made in Vietnam, Made in Korea, Made in China.'

All of our computers, phones, etc are made overseas.
We can't survive on our own.
