Hello all. I see this is essentially dead, but lets have another battle anyways. Post a character if you dare and we shall put your skills to the test.

    Name: Ryan Selvo
    Appearance: [IMG]
Weapon: Two 9 mil pistols with 4 back up clips.
1 50 cal machine gun with auto fire and semi auto. Scope is good to fifty yards.
1 Sniper rifle with 4 backup clips, 5 shots per clip. Scope is good to 100 yards.

Good luck to the one who battles me. Setting will be in a deserted city with lots of buildings and ally's. The ground is all broken up, since this city hasn't been lived in for about 10 years.

I'll try. Nothing much to do right now :p

    Name: Slyce Vindeto
    Appearance:
Weapons: two of some kind of katars. I'll be calling them "Shredders" unless anyone knows the correct name. He also has a knife in his boot.

Looks good. Let the battle begin.

Ryan sat atop a rooftop overlooking the main street below. He'd been sent to this odd place to take out some kind of crazy lookin killer. He didn't have much more than that to go on, save for a picture, a name, and his choice of weapons. Ryan had to admit, the guy was freaky looking.

After setting up a trip wire that would sound a small klaxon if anyone tried to get through the door behind him, he settled himself against the edge of the building and peeked through his skope to get a good view of the various alleys across the street. He was known as one hit selvo, due to his unerring accuracy with the sniper rifle. He wasn't about to let that name be tarnished by some nut case with a fetish for killing people. So Ryan would wait patiently. He had all day.

Slyce walked silently inside a building looking for his hunter. He hoped that this time his enemy would be more of a challenge than the last one. As a taunt, he took out his knife and sharpened his shredders to make sounds that would let the hunter know his location. Slyce was ready: if his opponent had a gun, his sharpened shredders could easily slice a bullet and he would know where the shot came from. He smiled at the thought of cutting up another human.

Ryan heard the sound of steel on steel coming from almost directly below him. "Perfect." He said looking down. He didn't even need to bother with a bullet if the guy was gonna be this dumb. Since he could tell by reflection from across the street that the guy was inside his building, he knew that he'd something different than a gun. He put his sniper rifle down carefully, and pulled a grenade from his belt. It would be messy, but it might work. He yanked the pin and counted to himself silently. The target was near the window a few stories up, so he'd need to time the blast perfectly. Then he dropped it over the side. While the grenade was falling he ran to a plank of wood he'd placed so he could walk onto another building. This way the enemy wouldn't know were he was.

Slyce heard a grenade explode somewhere underneath him. He went to the window and saw some smoke. He hopped through the window and used his shredders to crudely slide him down the wall to the source of the boom. A fire was starting in the room. It could mean that his enemy is either hiding in here or its a distraction. It didn't matter, wandering haphazardly always worked for Slyce. He decided to go in the room and look for his enemy there. He took a big gulp of air and jumped towards the ceiling where all the smoke was. His shredders clung to the ceiling and he moved around as if he were a monkey.

Even from were Ryan was he could hear the unmistakable sound of metal slicing metal. He tracked his target in his scope but just before he took the killing shot, he vanished through a window below. "Damn," he growled. Then he took a deep meditative breath, and calmed down. It didn't matter how long this took. Eventually he would have the satisfaction of feeling his rifle push into his arm as a small piece of metal shot forward at sonic speeds and pierced his targets brain, killing him instantly. It was only a matter of time.

    >Sorry it took so long for me to get this up. Been busy this week.<

Slyce had to get out of the room because he had overestimated his duration to hold his breath. He dropped down to the floor - sure that his prey used the grenade to get away - and took off his jacket to cover his mouth from the smoke. If his opponent had hid in a different building, Slyce had to do something to hide himself. He ran and jumped out the window while still facing the building. He threw his jacket out to cover him and used his shredders to cling on to the window he just jumped out of and swung himself into a window lower.

Having been an officially recognized judge for The Arena (which hopefully still hold after so long), I'd like to voice a thought or two regarding this battle thus far. Don't take it as meaning that I'm calling a winner and a loser just yet. Merely pointing out a few matters of concern, even if minor.

The primary concern, is that the level of realism doesn't appear to have been reasonably defined by the battle as far as it has gotten; but on the same token, the original post suggests something more along the lines of realism.

I feel, right now, that Blade isn't well enough in tune with the environment in which this battle is taking place. IE- Their previous posts has Slyce jumping from a window, yet clinging to that same window in order to drop to the one below. It doesn't seem feasible, provided that the jumping is actually jumping, considered that the window was open at the time. Then again, I might have just not understood the post either. Last I checked, windows also don't make for very good gripping points for claws such as what Slyce is using. But in any case, the running and jumping while still facing the building is a rather ridiculous maneuver at that. That's all I can really pick out from your posts so far.

For Zerieth mostly, always make sure that you either provide all relevant information in the character sheet prior to the battle. You used a grenade that your character sheet never mentioned, which is something that, in this situation, makes a pretty big difference.

    >At zhy, We don't need a judge dude. This is just a for fun battle between two old friends. Thanks for trying to be helpful, and I'm sure we will both try to put your suggestions to use.<

Wish I'd saved that grenade, Ryan though to himself. It was amazing enough I even had that, considering that I last used them two missions ago. Oh well. He adjusted himself to get more comfortable. It was becoming difficult to stay alert for his target, who had apparently gotten themselves lost in the building across the street. "This is really going to be a long day."

He considered leaving, but he'd spent days waiting for his foe and wasn't about to give up the opportunity now. No, this would be done today. After that he'd be on his way home to enjoy a good lunch and dinner at his favorite restaurant instead of sitting here and eating R.R.s.

"Alrighty then," Slyce said as he jumped down the last set of stairs to the ground floor. "We are getting nowhere with this." He poked his head out the door to check for any hiding spots. The street was all broken up so it'll be hard to move around. He glanced at the buildings to see if he can find the sniper but there were too many windows. He dived towards the closest lightpole. "Dammit, dammit, dammit," he repeated as he sprinted to a building across the street.

A movement out of the corner of his eye was all he needed. Ryan turned to see the target running across the street. "Perfect."

He brought his gun to bear, following the target in his scope. He adjusted himself for wind movement and distance, then slowly eased back on the trigger. All at once the gun went off, sending a piece of steel shooting down faster than the target would have been able to react. It hit, but only the left leg. Before he could fire again, the target was behind a building.

"So you got away with just a flesh wound, eh? Still you won't be going far on that leg." He knew from the spatter of blood that had gone up from the hit that the bone had been damaged, if not snapped altogether.

He got up and began moving to his next blind. Now that he had given himself away it was high time that he went some place else.

He reached the end of the building were the wooden plank was, then carefully lifted it up to waste height and dragged it across. He repeated the process in reverse with the other end of the building, then ran across to the next blind. He took up station quickly, and sighted out his targets location through his scope. No blood trail leading from the spot he had last seen him, which pointed to two things. Either the target had bandaged himself, or he was still there licking his wounds.

Slyce didn't dare lick his wound; he had a nasty infection the last time. He didn't have any bandages and the bullet is still lodged in his leg next to a bullet from a few fights back. He found a lighter and burned his wound to close it up. He casually stood back up, ignoring the pain. From the shot he found out where the shooter was. Although he was sure that the sniper had moved locations, he couldn't be far from that point. Slyce ran - with a small limp - towards the building where the sniper was.

When he got there, he looked for signs as to where his enemy had moved to. There was debris everywhere except for a spot that was like a path because something was dragged. "Using a plank as a bridge, huh?" he said silently. He licked his middle finger and stuck his hand out the window and flipped it hoping to taunt his enemy. The shredders were still equipped in case the sniper to shoot off the finger. At the same time, he measured the wind speed and direction to plan his next move.

Ryan saw the hand sticking out of the window but opted to wait for a little longer. In truth he'd had several shots that he could have made as the guy moved around the building, but his target hadn't presented any good shots for him. You couldn't kill someone with a hand shot, so he just waited. His target would come out soon enough. You could count on it.

The waiting game. That's what Slyce hated the most about snipers. It wasn't windy, so the sniper could shoot from anywhere. Someone had to move, and it won't be the shooter. Slyce took his hand back in and thought about his next move. He decided that he's going to run out and look for the sniper; he could use the rush. He counted down from three. When he finished, he ran out straight out to the streets. To avoid being shot, he would jump, roll, and spontaneously change speeds.

Ryan saw the guy run and had to smile. He was doing everything that a person could do to avoid being shot by a sniper. The sudden changes of speed and seemingly random movements wouldn't make his next shot easy. Not easy, but not impossible.

He sighted along very carefully noting the speed of his target, the direction, and the distance to contact. He was about to go for a head shot, but decided that something in the chest would probably work best. He sighted down slightly then up, took a deep breath, and fired. The bullet struck his target, but it was only a minor hit. It had punctured one lung possibly, but you could live for hours that way. "Damn it."

Once more he picked up his gear and prepared to move. Looking down he smiled as his target clutched at his chest. "Don't worry my friend. The pain will be over soon enough."

"Holy cra-," Slyce tried to say, but he got the wind knocked out of him. He had a bullet lodged in the just outside same lung from a previous fight, but the shot that came from this guy finally pushed it in. Luckily, the sniper's bullet sort of bounced off and the bullet inside him now was a fairly small one. "Thank God that the other person was a good shooter, too." Judging from the impact, he finally figured out where the sniper was. But his lung felt like it was on fire. He saw the gunman moving behind the windows. "Gotcha." Slyce began moving towards his target, his adrenaline numbing the pain.

    >Wonders why you would go AT a good shooter<

Ryan couldn't believe it. The guy was actually running towards his location. He didn't seem to be dodging much either. This guy suicidal or something? he thought as he stopped and took aim at the guys head. The guy must have seen him, because a look of horror crossed his face as Ryan set the cross hairs on the guys fore head. Almost got him.

Slyce felt a sneeze coming on as he ran towards the shooter. "Aw man, not now," he thought. The sniper was a few ways ahead aiming at his head. Running as fast as he could was the only way to get this over with. But if he sneezed at the right time, there's a chance he'd dodge the bullet. "Fat chance." It's all or nothing in this last attack. He pulled out his knife and threw it at his enemy, but he sneezed at the same time. His aim was to make Ryan flinch and use that time to kill him. The sneeze had definitely made him miss, though.

Ryan saw the guy sneeze just as he threw a knife. He noticed that the weapon was going to go way wide of him, so he ignored at as any trained assassin would. He centered his gun on the guys head, and fired. It was a direct hit.

Ryan never bothered with "cleaning up", and he doubted anyone would come across the body here. He hiked over back to his weapons case, and took his rifle apart. He placed it reverently back in the case, and snapped it shut. He drew his side arm, a pistol, just on the off chance that the guy was completely dead, and walked down to were his target lay in a pool of blood.

Without any emotion passing across his face, he double tapped into the guys skull. Now there was no chance he had survived. With that, Ryan began the long walk back to his jeep. Mission accomplished.
