Well, somehow, there doesn't appear to be a thread like this in this section. There's a place to rant about the ones you hate the most, and a favorite villain thread, but unless I'm seriously blind, no general favorite character threads. o_O

    So, here it is.

My favorite character has been the same for ages, and that character would be Squall (FFVIII). I just love this guy. I see a lot of myself in him, because I am also a clueless, anti-social idiot. Him at the SeeD ball at the beginning of the game, propped on the wall, hitting the booze- that's totally me. I liked that he was a reluctant hero at times, but would still try his best to save the day. And while a lot of the characters in VIII were sort of brushed aside, I thought Squall had a lot of development, particularly because of Rinoa's influence.

VentusSearcher Steam is the only way....

My Favorite Charecter would have to be Lightning or Hope. They are just such good fighters and have a good background story.

I mentioned this in the "What's your Favourite FF Game", but my favourite character is Cecil. I stand by the statement that FF IV was amazing and it's really because of Cecil why I liked it so much.

Cecil was brave, courageous and he had a lovable personality. The story about his inner-conflict was also touching and I was moved by the fact that he was trying to find his identity. However, many characters were able to trick him (I always wondered how he didn't realize that people were just using him), but I felt bad for him more than anything. He was too trusting towards others and some people took advantage of that, but Cecil was still an overall great character. He was one of the most relatable ones for me by far.

On a side note, Kain had deceived Cecil many times thoughtout the game, but I actually liked him a lot too.

I've never gotten to play IV, and I'd love to because people seem to have such a high opinion of it.

It's been so long since I've played a FInal Fantasy game, but let's see if I can come up with some more favorites (the characters I hate are a lot easier to name off >_<). No one has yet topped Squall, but...

I've always had a soft spot for FFVII's Cid. He's so gruff and foul, but you know he has a heart of gold deep down. I love those sorts of characters you sometimes have to work to love. On a more practical side, he was a damn good fighter and was always in my party.

I also really liked Zidane in IX. IX doesn't usually seem very popular, but I adored it, and Zidane was a great example of what a more lighthearted hero should be like. Not to say he didn't have his own angst to deal with, but he was just a likable guy- you could see how people would end up following him.

I personally loved it, as you might have guessed, so it may be worth a try. I haven't played the PSP version of the game yet, but I'm tempted to buy it for a summer video game.

I also have a few more favourites. Cecil is my absolute fav, but there are a few characters who are right behind him.

Fran from Final Fantasy XII. I know that the mass populous doesn't seem to like this game, but I thought that FF XII was great. There were a few things that bugged me and I had to get used to the battle system, but overall it was a lovely storyline. Fran was my favourite character in XII because at the beginning she had this air of mystery to her and I found that she was useful on my team. (She was a part of my main battle formation.) Also when we got to go to the Viera village in the game, I thought that the place was absolutely beautiful. Fran's character design was very unique as well.

Auron from Final Fantasy X. For obvious reasons, he was quite mysterious in the game like Fran. Auron was a strong fighter, had great style, and he made putting up with Tidus bearable. I think that last one qualifies him as a superhero. It seems to me that I find the people of mystery alluring in video games v-v
