I know we have a wide variety of members here in different govermental sort of groups we'll call it, so what is your opinion on what Egypts new reformed government should become?

For those of you who've been living under a rock recently, Egypt has been in a mighty protest for a while over the government and mainly the president of Egypt for 35(?) years.

Egypt was basically have a Revolution fighting a war to take the president, Mubarak, out of power. Last Friday, Mubarak finally stepped down, and currently the vice president is running the country.

The people now sort of have control of the country and it's starting to lean toward democracy, however there's possible suspicion of the muslim brotherhood trying to step in and take over.

In your opinion what form of government should Egypt have and do you have anything else to share about Egypt, such as it shutting down the internet and phones, basically destroying all communication possibilities, conspiracy theories about Mubarak hiring the Pro-Mubarak Protestors, etc.

I personally believe that the internet was shut down in Egypt in order to break down communication in an attempt to stop the protest, which clearly didn't work. Hopefully, cutting the internet doesn't become the new 'mode' for other countries facing a rebelling population.

I understand how Egypt wanted Mubarak out as soon as possible, but in a sense Mubarak 'claims' that he was only staying in longer to protect Egypt from a possible Muslim invasion. This causes world wide issues because most countries don't want Muslims to take over another country, but we'll see what happens.

I think Egypt should have a government system between socialist and capitalist. Both systems have their flaws and there has been discussions about it for ages as to which is better but I think it honestly depends on the coutry in which the system is being applied to. However, geographically where Egypt is located there's a lot of socialist countries, therefore, it will most likely take on the role as well. We shall see, but hopefully it gets all sorted out soon, or atleast they should but someone else into power before another country decides to take adventage of them.

i think the government needs to take action and stop giving the people less power like ours(even though ours sucks)

Between capitalist and socialist would be more a communist sort of aspect, which I definately do not want to see.

As for internet shut down, without a doubt it was about communication. The revolution first got started on protesting on Facebook and Twitter.

what the hell? who would protest about that? especially when it ended up at this point

They weren't protesting because of it. If memory serves correctly(google can't search enough for source) it was because of a man who was too poor to own a buisness liscense selling fruit on the street to provide for his poor family when police wheeled his cart away with a fine.

And also apparently a boy(not actually from Egypt) blood beaten face caused by police circularing on Facebook and Twitter.

So basically the people of Egypt said enough is enough and stood up against Egypt's president hoping for a reform and a democracy.

i guess that makes sense, but still. it got taken too far. things happen like that to people even though it shouldn't. the world just sucks...

I was left with the impression that comminism was the more extreme form of socialism because wasn't that Russia's movement back around WWII? To be honest though, the term 'communism' is thrown around too often so I'm not entirely sure what an exact definition of it would be.

Well in order to change a system which is believe to not be working for a country, it does involve some fighting for. Sure, some people did think the Egyptians were taking it too far, but to be honest it wasn't all that bad in contrast to other pro-democracy movements taking place. It's a great thing though that Mubarak stepped down, but I don't know how long the military can run the country.

So I guess that's the end of any future Egyptian revolts. I don't see it causing any issues though since the Egyptians have won their case, but perhaps they're looking for more economic changes.

Here's something neat I read about some future steps that Egypt plans on taking:

He seems fairly straight up and friendly, well most do, but what did you hear about Mohamed ElBaradei? Then again though, a man who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 definitely seems like a great candidate to become the next President of Egypt. It seems like the country is finally taking a turn for the better. Any thoughts on this?

Also, I was looking up whether or not Mubarak hired Pro-Mubarak protestors and I couldn't find anything as of yet that seems reliable. Wouldn't surprise me if he did, but I'll look into it some more.
