    Main Theme:

YouTube - Dragon Quest IX Overture Theme Song

    Backstory:

(Dragon Quest IV) 500 years ago, a monster known to most as The Demon Lord rose from the underworld and sought to destroy all humans. The Land known as Gendoria was under the Demon Lord's control. Though the people of Gandoria still had hope that an ancient prophesy of a group of chosen heroes would unite and defeat the Demon Lord. Though the Demon Lord had thought it was just an old fairy tale that was used to help children fall asleep, but he was wrong. For the prophesy had come true and the Demon Lord was banished back to the Underworld before he could destroy Gandoria and all it's leaders.

(Dragon Quest VII) 300 Years later, the Demon Lord had gathered enough strength to once again rise from below, but he chose a different land. It was to the East of Gendoria and was known as Estard. The Demon Lord had been slowly dominating Estard from the underworld with the help of his minions. One by one, each kingdom in the cluster of islands mysteriously disappeared. Eventually, there was only 1 island left in the entire land. Another group of chosen heroes rose up and used the powers of an ancient ruin to go back in time and save the islands from destruction and eventually killed the Demon Lord once and for all.

    Plot:

The World was finally at peace, the Demon Lord was gone forever, his minions all dead..But not a single person had expected what was about to happen next.

Then, in the kingdom of Endor which is located near the center of Gandoria, was mysteriously attacked. People claimed that houses suddenly caught on fire, people were falling dead with no cause, gaping holes appeared in people's stomachs as if they were being impaled by nothing, the only person to make it out alive was a soldier of Endor, the last thing he saw of his city was a large ice dome forming around it. After days of traveling he made it to the ocean and payed for a ride to a Small island to the south, not part of any kingdom. Cold, isolated and had very little populace. The Island was called Berolan, the only town there had a population of about 100 people, the soldier went to the mayor of the town and explained what had happened and asked if he had any warriors with him who were willing to come investigate further with him. 40 Men volunteered to go, including the Mayor's son, Garek. The Soldier, Garek and the 39 other volunteers took the only boat and set sail towards Endor.

    Opening Post:

A young man stood on a large fishing boat, watching as several warriors walked aboard, they were going to Endor. He wasn't sure what to expect, he had a hunch that it would be life threatening. But he had to do it for the people of Endor, it was his duty to protect them. "Riechfield....Hey!" Someone said from behind. "Huh?" The young man turned around.
"Riechfield are we ready to leave yet?" The man said, he was the captain of the ship. "Soon" Riechfield replied "We need to take care with preparing for this journey...On my way here, i saw some strange creatures under the water that i've never seen before. I have a feeling there's evil about.
"If you say so..But make it quick." The captain said. Riechfield put his hand on his head as the captain walked away, things were rather stressing for him at the time. He was concerned about Endor.

"You're worried about the leviathans, aren't you?" Silva said as he walked up. He had his two sword sheathed at his waist. He was also wearing his black cloak with the the hood down. Silva's face was in a small smile. "Don't worry about them. Any lightning element attacks and they drop, I happen to have such an attack so there's really nothing to worry about." Silva went over by Riechfield and stared out over the sea. "This will be my second journey from home, and my first to Endor. Tell me, what is your kingdom like?"

"Magnificent..So full of life. Everyone there is almost always happy..What with the new casino..Who could blame them." Riechfield replied without even looking at Silva. "Endor has withstood sieges for days..Months..And yet somehow it fell within ten minutes..I still can't believe it..I hope the king is alright." Riechfield turned around "I'm not worried about the Leviathans, i've dealt with them before. What i am worried about is what happened to Endor...The last thing i saw of it was an ice dome forming around it.."

"Then the answer to that is simple; we melt the ice, get inside, and slay the cause." Silva said. He held his hands on his swords as he leaned against the railing of the ship. "Like I said, don't worry though. These sort of things must be taken as they come. Worrying only brings about fear, which impedes your judgment. A true warrior knows fear, but holds his own above it. That's something I learned during my previous journey."

Garek, looked out to the sea, watching the tides hit the stone walls, as he was sitting down on it. He felt the wind bluster through his hair and felt a calm breeze, which soothed his scorching red face. It was very hot and in a training uniform, it was even hotter. He had just trained with his father, Jealson, a man who was an ex high ranking officer in Endor and he also was the mayor of the small, but strong town called Berolan. Garek rose his hand, focusing on the water and as it bumped into the stone wall, he made the waves slightly higher around him. He wanted to summon the water from the ocean and onto his hands but once again he failed. He did manage to get the water upto his knees, rather than his ankles though. It was a slight improvement from last week.
"What did I do wrong? Do I have to focus more?" he asked himself. He looked away and got upto his feet, noticing that a new boat has arrived to the town. He walked upto them.
    "Greetings" he welcomed.
His father patted him on his shoulder.
"This is my son. He's coming with us" he told them. "I want him to experience adventure"
Garek turned to face him with a smile on his face but as he scanned his father's smile, he noticed that he only was sending him with them so he can be educated about warriors rather than mages. He'd be away from books and he'll be closer to warriors and swords instead.

Ryuu sat silently on the railing of the boat looking out to sea. He heard what the one person said. "A true warrior also doesn't dwell on the past and express things he might have learned." Ryuu told him not even caring to turn and look.

"Also the captain may want to buckle equipment down, there's a storm in our path that may cause some shake." Ryuu explained as he turned his head to a young boy boarding the boat. He seen the boy before around town, if his memory served correctly he was the mayor's son.

"Heh, true true. But a little good advice never hurt anyone. I'll get to work on strapping the equipment down so it stays safe." Silva chuckled but headed towards the lower decks where the items were stored. As he did he saw the mayor and his son come aboard. He gave a quick smile before he went down below and started to tie things down.

Riechfield saw that everyone who was coming was on board, it was time to go. He took a deep breath and slowly walked up to the mayor "I think we best be off, i'm anxious to get back to Endor..I'm sure you understand my concern." Riechfield turned around and saw the captain. Riechfield gave him an OK sign, meaning everything was ready to go. The captain nodded and walked off. " Something tells me we won't be in for a warm welcome...This may sound crazy but...Do you think it could be the doings of...You know..Him..The.....I can't even say his accursed name...But i'm sure you know who it is i'm talking about.." Riechfield said as he turned back to the mayor

Seaxbrith awoke to the sound of arrows firing. He listened to the current of the wind before a flurry of sharpened metal altered the speed of sound and struck something. Something with a splash.
"Damn, I missed it..." He heard a voice exclaim in frustration as two other voices laugh.
Seaxbrith wandered over to the village of Berolan, walking by the water and noticing a few soldiers mindlessly firing at the ocean with their bows and arrows.

"Hey, what are you boys doing?" Seaxbrith asked the goofy privates who lacked discipline. The soldiers looked in awe at the mere mercenary standing before them, his arms crossed with authority.
"N-N-Nothing, sir... we were just, um... err... uh... practicing... Seaxbrith." One of them stuttered.
Seaxbrith sighed and placed his attention elsewhere knowing that he did not have any authority over the three, "You boys have too much spare time." He said, walking away. Seaxbrith looked toward the docked ship as he made his way to the market, and raised an eyebrow as to why it was out in the open. Was it some sort of expedition?

"Who Malum? That old myth?" Silva said as he came back up from below deck. Unlike many of the other soldiers, Silva wasn't afraid to say his name. "Couldn't be. He's long gone. To be honest I don't believe in that old legend anyways." Silva climbed up to the crows nest and relaxed. He liked heights, to the point that his bedroom was at the top of his family tower.

Upon his arrival at the town market, Seaxbrith picked up some mana potions and a jar of healing herbs before someone extended their hand to touch his shoulder.
"Ah, Seaxbrith. Good morning, how've you been?" The mayor smiled, he wasn't particularly fond of Seaxbrith, but he sure seemed as if he was trying to be persuasive on this morn.
Seaxbrith turned around and faced the mayor, his eyes squinted and as blue as the seas, "...Fine." He said in a quiet, deep tone. The mayor stroked his little, white beard and motioned his fingers to follow him. There, Seaxbrith was led to the docks where the giant ship he had seen earlier was still anchored.
"Seaxbrith, would you be interested in a... transaction?" The mayor asked, acting most devious and sly.
Seaxbrith nodded, "You want a job done, or what?" He asked.
The mayor crossed his arms, "By any chance you hadn't heard, the Kingdom of Endor is in its most... dire need of assistance?" He said, trying to come up with the right words for the sentence.
"We need a Lieutenant to keep the crew straight."
"Scratch that, what're we talkin' in terms of... pay?" Seaxbrith asked.
"How about three-thousand now, and another five thousand when you return."
There was a long pause, and then Seaxbrith nodded in approval, "We leaving now?"
"Yes, just get on the ship and get yourself acquainted with the others."
Seaxbrith made his way onto the deck of the anchored ship and looked around at the soldiers on board scurrying about, preparing for the long voyage ahead. Seaxbrith wasn't very social, maybe it was because of his ego, or maybe it was because he lived in the forest, but anyway, Seaxbrith knew this would be especially hard on him. He worked alone.
"Can anyone direct me to person that's running this operation, and captaining this ship?" He asked aloud.

"That would be me.." Riechfield called out as he approached Seaxbrith "May i help you?" Riechfield asked looking up and down and the stranger, he hadn't seen him around town before..And it was a fairly small town, something about the guy seemed kind of odd.

In a large underground cave system under Endor, a shadowy figure sat alone in a corner, thinking. His eyes were closed and his head down, he was deep in concentration, suddenly it was broken by a raspy voice. "My Lord...I have some urgent news that you must hear immediately." The figure raised his head "Speak......" He said. "We have reasons to believe...He..Is coming..." The raspy voice replied. The figure raised his head and stood up, he started growling "We must do away with him.."

"My name is Seaxbrith," He said, "I'm a hired mercenary who the mayor has appointed to work with yourself and the others on this objective to Endor, Mr. Riechfield." Seaxbrith looked around at the ship, sniffing the salt in the air.
He crossed his arms, "What are your current demands, ...captain?"

The boy looked at the strong muscular men and he walked away from them, feeling very intimidated. As he turned to the back of the boat, he saw a girl with long chocolate brown hair and her perfume smelt like roses. Garek walked upto her and stood beside her, looking out at the ocean.
"It's nice huh?" the girl told him.
    Garek nodded. "Uh-huh"
"Are you a soldier?" she asked.
Garek nodded once more, trying not to embarrass himself infront of a burly crew and a lady. "I guess I am"
"What do you mean by you guess you are?"
    Garek shrugged.
"I like magic aswell. I'm a mix between a soldier and a mage, I guess"
The girl turned around to him, revealing her deep sky blue eyes. She looked at him closely and then smiled.
    "You're the mayor's son, aren't you?"
"Yes I am. How did you know?"
The girl turned back around to the ocean.
"My father and the mayor are very good friends. They used to work together as soldiers for Endor. I don't know why I haven't met you before." She turned around and showed her sparkling white teeth. "My name's Katie! What's yours?"
Garek gave out his hand. "Garek"
They shook hands. Garek felt awkward, seeing how much she was smiling but he felt happy so he did the same. "This adventure is going to get a lot more interesting" Garek thought.

The mayor looked at his son and smiled.
"He'll finally know what it will feel like to be a soldier. He knows the benefits of it already" he told Riechfield.

Riechfield looked at everyone present, there was someone missing. He looked around "Garek? Where are you?" He walked around the ship deck looking for Garek "Where is that boy." He headed to the back of the boat and saw him with some girl "Garek? What the heck are you doing? We don't have time to fool around! We need to get going soon. Now come on." Riechfield called down to him. He turned and waited for Garek to come back on board, he had a feeling this boy would wandering off quite a bit during this journey.

Garek was pulled away from Katie and she waved, giggling. He ran into the fuelling station. The ship ran on steam power. As he opened the door, he saw two chubby men bustling around the room, desperately looking for something.
"Where's the lighter, Bob?" one chubby man, Pete, said with a bold head and a blonde mustache.
"I don't know Pete. Keep looking!" the other chubby man, Bob said, who had wide glasses and a top hat. They almost could be twins. As the boy walked into the small room, the two chubby men, turned towards Garek, bouncing off their bellies and looked at him with annoyed eyes
"Leave us alone! We are very busy"
Garek squeaked past the two fat men and paced up to the fireplace, which had coal placed on it. The boy then closed his eyes and a spark of fire emerged in his left hand.
    "HUH!? YOU'RE A---"
Garek stopped the fat man with the top hat from speaking with his right hand.
    "Shh....don't tell anyone"
They both nodded and Garek focused further into his hand until a ball of fire lifted from his palm. He then threw it onto the fireplace.
    "Thankyou!"
Garek, then shuffled his way out of the fuelling station, trying to sneak away but then he hit his father's strong stomach, knocking him over.
"What were you doing, son?" his father asked, with a suspicious look.
"I helped them find the lighter"
    His father turned his back.
    "Right...." he replied, sarcastically.

Riechfield noticed the boat's engines had started. "Finally...." He mumbled. "It'll be at least 5 hours before we reach Endor though...I really hope the king is alright.." He walked to the ship's railing and saw people waving goodbye to those on the ship. "I couldn't bare to see something bad happen to this town..It's so full of life..." Riechfield thought. He turned around and bumped into someone "Excuse me, i didn't see you there." He said to the person. As he walked away his head perked up, he turned around and looked at the person, it was a girl "I don't remember any girls volunteering to come..." He slowly approached the girl without trying to draw attention to himself. When the girl had finally turned around, Riechfield raised an eyebrow "What...? Can that be.........No...." He shook his head and walked off

Completely oblivious to why Riechfield had ignored him, Seaxbrith wandered off once more above deck as the ship lifted anchor and left the port. Seaxbrith made it to the lower deck where most of the soldiers were drinking up and enjoying conversing with each other before they had to go to war.
Seaxbrith found a nearby bench and with out another word took a seat on it, draping a scarf around his mouth as if to not reveal his true identity.

The girl sighed and looked at the waves bouncing off the ship. A tear fell onto the water, creating a ripple. The smell of coal being burned filled the air and this made her upset also. What she originally was thinking; was how Endor was taken over. She was there at the time of the attack. Babies were crying, buildings were being burned and people that she known and loved were being killed. She placed her head on the board, not wanting to face the world. Suddenly a hand touched her shoulder.
"Hey, are you OK?" Garek asked.
She turned around and hugged him. She needed comfort from someone. Garek blushed, as she placed her head on his shoulder, crying on it. He held her aswell, consoling her.
    "What's wrong?" Garek asked, feverishly.
"I'm sad about Endor. All those innocent people were killed...."
Garek frowned, not knowing what to say. All he could think of saying is how they would be able to get back at the villain who did this but that's revenge. That's the wrong way of thinking about these situations. Garek and Katie remained in their position and she held on tightly. His shoulder was starting to feel wet. Garek let go of her and looked her in the eye.
"Don't worry. Everything will be okay. I'll protect you"
    Katie gave a half smile.
"Thankyou...that means a lot" she replied, still sobbing.

Riechfield looked up, he noticed large birds flying overhead, circling the ship. He had never seen birds like that before..It was strange to him. He looked back down, and felt like he was almost being watched.

"They're about to leave port.." The raspy voice said.
"Bring the scouts back, i don't want them drawing anyone's attention..They are rather big." Another voice replied
    "Right away.."

Riechfield looked up again and noticed the strange creatures circling the ship suddenly flew away, to the north..Towards Endor. He noticed something in one of the creature's talons, an orb like thing..Almost like a crystal ball.

    "They're coming back.."
    "Good..."

Riechfield raised an eyebrow..He remembered something, a mage in Endor had something similar to that orb like object, he used 2 of them to spy on the enemy. Riechfield ran to one of the ship workers "Tell the captain we need to get going..NOW!" The worker nodded and walked off. Riechfield took one last look at the birds that were flying off..He knew something wasn't right with them.
