Dr. Pepper 10 Sexist

    I should have made a thread for this a long time ago when this previewed.

    So I'm sure many of you have seen this commercial, What are your opinions on this? Why do you think Dr. Pepper did this?


    I find this commercial very, very offensive. As most of you know me, I'm not a girly girl, I'm fully into the guy stuff, if playing Kingdom Hearts, a video game, steered towards guy don't prove this perhaps the fact I hate romantic comedy and chick flicks, the color pink, hate wearing dresses or skirts, I love action movies, and I drink soda pop, I prefer coke zero over diet coke(which is also steered for a male market but does not come straight out saying "not for women"), and several other things. Not only that but no offense to guys, it is usually the women doing the shopping, especially the grocery shopping. I have to say the video link below from Ellen I agree with, and I find absolutely hilarious.

    Next there's gonna be a racist mountain dew.
    The commercial looks stupid, and doesn't make me wanna buy a Dr.pepper anyway.

    I'm somewhat curious as to why anybody cares. The commercial isn't sexist. The commercial is made to be something funny or amusing. Are you guys gonna say that Old Spice commercials are sexist for saying men shouldn't use lady scented body wash?

    Personally, I feel that being offended by this commercial is just as bad as being offended by somebody saying Merry Christmas to you when you don't celebrate Christmas. It isn't something to be offended by.

    I gotta hand it to Dr. Pepper here- way to make a commercial that really grabs people's attention. Think of all the publicity they're getting thanks to people bitching about whether it's sexist or not. They can yank this commercial off the air today and it will already have done its job. Bravo, marketing dudes.

    I'm a chick who loves action movies, but I have to say I wasn't at all offended by this commercial. I think it was exaggerated sexism to the point that it wasn't really sexist anymore. I dunno, I guess I appreciate the bluntness of the commercial. There are plenty of advertisments (and other things in media) that show a more subtle sexist view that I think are far more damaging in the long run than this one idiotic commercial. And I guess I just find it silly to be offended by something that (to me) didn't even take itself seriously. But I also think in general people get offended by the littlest things. And I think people should be smart enough to know that stereotypes aren't always fact.
