This RP is based off of the game series Dot Hack//G.U.

    Plot:
Welcome to the popular MMORPG The World R:2. The events from years ago are occurring again, and now new players need to solve the mysteries of what is happening and save The World. If they fail, the real world could be in serious danger.

    Classes:
Blade Brandier: Blade Brandier's wield medium-sized, one-handed, or katana-like swords in battle.

Macabre Dancer: Macabre Dancers are the expert class for status effects and parameter changes, and are very balanced casters, learning both healing and attack spells. Like Harvest Clerics and Shadow Warlocks, Macabre Dancers gain spells incredibly quickly, at a rate of almost one per job level, but learn no arts. Their weapons are Fans.

Edge Punisher: Edge Punishers excel in physical attacking, especially against armored foes; however, they are much slower than classes such as the Blade Brandier. Edge Punishers also have higher defense from the heavy armors they can equip. Their weapons are Broadswords.

Flick Reaper: Flick Reapers are very weak to long range attacks. They're the medium range, "area attack" class. They "flick" multiple enemies and push them away before they can get close enough for melee attacks, but a good Steam Gunner or Lord Partizan could overpower them by attacking from afar. Their weapons are Scythes.

Harvest Cleric: Harvest Clerics are experts in healing magic. Like Macabre Dancers and Shadow Warlocks, Harvest Clerics learn spells incredibly fast, at a rate of almost 1 per job level, but learn no arts. Their weapons are Staffs.

Lord Partizan: Lord Partizans have good medium range attacks, but don't excel at "sweeping" attacks like Flick Reapers. Their defense and physical attack stats are very high, with magical attack being their only real weakness. They're also more monster-oriented, with a lot of good armor-piercing and anti-air weapons and skills. Their skill progression for low levels is also among the lowest. Overall, this class can cause the most immediate damage. Their weapons are Lances.

Shadow Warlock: Shadow Warlocks are experts in attack magic and are allied with the dark spirits. Like Macabre Dancers and Harvest Clerics, Shadow Warlocks gain spells very quickly, at a rate of almost one per job level, but learn no arts. Their weapons are Grimoires

Steam Gunner: Steam Gunners are the physical equivalent of Shadow Warlocks. Their shots are skills that operate the exact same way spells do, but deal physical damage instead. Steam Gunners' shots have greater range than any other physical hit, and their physical attack stat has the fastest progression of any class. Their weapons are Bayonets.

Tribal Grappler: This class has the advantage of a very high attack speed, allowing it to achieve normal Rengeki extremely fast, in addition to very high HP. Their defense, however, is very low. They also have a very limited repertoire of arts. Their weapons are light gauntlet type weapons. These can range from lightweight gloves, to oversized, paw-like gauntlets.

Twin Blade: Twin Blades are extremely versatile, with more weapon types and subtypes than any other class. Their attacks are somewhat weak, but quick and easy to combo. Twin Blades have high agility and attack with two short swords. Their rapid attacks leave no opening for an opponent to counterattack. Their weapons are Dual Swords.

Dual Gunner: This class will probably not be available, since it’s not an actual class

Adept Rouge: Unlike other classes, its users do not specialize in a single weapon, or form of combat. Instead of practicing in the use of a particular type of weapon, an Adept Rogue acquires several forms through Job Extend, each of which allows him or her to use a different weapon type. At the time of creation, the user picks 2 to 3 classes using a point-buy system. They also pick freely from one of the 3 armor types. The Adept Rogue starts out in the game with their first chosen class, and must unlock the remainder through Job Extend. An Adept Rogue is given 4 points to use to choose from the following job options:
    Blade Brandier - 1 Point
    Edge Punisher - 1 Point
    Twin Blade - 1 Point
    Flick Reaper - 2 Points
    Lord Partizan - 2 Points
    Tribal Grappler - 2 Points
    Macabre Dancer - 3 Points
    Harvest Cleric - 3 Points
    Shadow Warlock - 3 Points
    Steam Gunner - 3 Points
    Armor:
Robes: The classes that use them are Macabre Dancers, Harvest Clerics, and Shadow Warlocks.
Light Armor: The classes that use them are Twin Blades, Blade Brandiers, Steam Gunners, and Tribal Grapplers.
Heavy Armor: The classes that use them are Edge Punishers, Flick Reapers, and Lord Partizans.

    Terms:

AIDA: AIDA stands for Artificially Intelligent Data Anomaly. It is a term used by the CyberConnect Corporation to refer to the anomalous "black spots" appearing throughout The World R:2 and to the creatures that emerge from them. Little is known about the AIDA. The AIDA are "natural" AIs, formed from the errors in the Internet caused by the disappearance of Aura.

Aura: Aura is the ultimate AI. She receded into The World's sea of data to sleep and leave the future of The World in the hands of the players. She currently exists as the system of The World, and wishes the players to decide their own destiny.

PK: Player Killer. Most PKs kill for sport, not for purpose.

PKK: Player Killer Killer. One who specifically hunts and kills others who maliciously kill players.

Servers: A Server is a computer system that is accessed by other computers. In The World all Dungeons, fields, Monsters, and treasure, namely every part of the game is stored on one of the games servers. At the center of each server is a Root Town, where players gather to form parties, buy, sell, and trade items, raise Grunties, and do pretty much everything that doesn't involve fields or dungeons. Fields and other servers can be accessed from the root town through the use of the Chaos Gate, usually located in a central location of the town, by using a combination of key words.

    Root Towns:
Δ Delta Server, with Root Town Mac Anu. This is the beginner level Root Town.
Θ Theta Server, with Root Town Dol Dona. This is the intermediate level Root Town.
Ω Omega Server, with Root Town Lumina Cloth. This is for the Arena only. There are no areas to train except for the Arena.
Σ Sigma Server, with Root Town Breg Epona. This is the expert level Root Town.

    The Arena:
The Arena has three different levels: The Demon Palace, the Holy Palace, and the Sage Palace. Each palace is a higher level than the last. Demon Palace is for low level players, Holy Palace is for intermediate level players, and the Sage Palace is for high level players. There is an Emperor for each Palace. The Emperor can change from tournaments. With tournaments, teams of three compete to win. The winner of the tournament is allowed to face the current Emperor to become the new one. The Emperor of one palace has to relinquish his title to be allowed to compete in a tournament of a higher palace.

    Guilds:
A Guild is basically a group of players with the same interests joining together. Guilds are composed of one guildmaster, members, and a grunty. The grunty looks similar to the guildmaster. Guilds can increase in rank, which makes them of a higher status. The guild’s headquarters called @homes. They are located at the Delta, Theta, or Sigma Servers based on their rank. If guilds become big enough, they receive their own Area Word location.

Events/Quests: They can be done by groups of people. I’ll occasionally come up with one. PM me if you have one you want to have done.

Job Extend Quests: These are only for Adept Rouges. Once completed, the Adept Rouge has access to the next class that was picked.

Epitaph Users: Only rare people with compatible personalities, known as "Chosen Ones", can become Epitaph Users. "Chosen Ones" have a connection emotionally to the Avatar they're compatible with. When "awoken", Epitaph Users can call forth their respective Phase and fight in Avatar Space, an extra dimension that exists outside of the perception of normal users, but parallel to and in direct interaction with the rest of The World R:2.

    The Eight Epitaphs:
    Skeith: "The Terror of Death"

    Innis:" The Mirage of Deceit"

    Magus: "The Propagation"

    Fidchell: "The Prophet"

    Gorre: "The Machinator"

    Macha: "The Temptress"

    Tarvos: "The Avenger"

    Corbenik: "The Rebirth"

Data Drain: This is an ability used by the Epitaphs. It can extract data and rewrite it. It is used to defeat AIDA and other Epitaphs. To activate, a Protect Break needs to happen.

Lost Weapons: These are weapons available only to the eight Epitaph Users. The Epitaph User needs to unlock it with enough Addler Keys, and then defeat the monster that guards it. The weapons also need to be upgraded with Virus Cores. Once fully upgraded, the Epitaph User needs to defeat a stronger version of the monster that originally guarded the weapon.

CC Corp: The CyberConnect Corporation, or CC Corp for short, is the game company that released The World, its beta Fragment, and its sequel The World R:2.

Rengeki: When an enemy takes enough hits, they will be able to be hit by a Rengeki. They allow Arts and other spells to deal more damage.

Awakening: A special attack. There are multiple types of Awakenings.

Beast Awakening: Speeds up the attack rate of the party members, preventing enemies from counterattacking.

Demon Awakening: Repeatedly casts spells at the enemy. Since the enemy is being hit by these, they can’t do anything.

Divine Awakening: Can only be used with a party containing three members. It gets stronger based on the friendship of the three party members.

Avatar Awakening: An upgraded form of Divine Awakening. Can only be used by Epitaph Users. The Epitaph User uses Data Drain, causing massive damage. If it is a monster that is hit, they release Virus Cores.

    Rules:

    NO SPAMMING!
No Mary-Sue characters. You’re all regular people, and as such they aren’t perfect.

The weapon is fine. Bayonets are meant to be used as close range and long range weapons.

How many players are we waiting for? Just a few more to fill up the epitaphs? Otherwise I can play another character w/ or w/o an epitaph.

  10. Desert Warrior

    Desert Warrior Well-Known Member

I was mainly waiting for all the Epitaphs to be taken. But you can make another character if you want.

I also just remembered to add something to the rules. It's nothing big, but might as well point it out.

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

I've got a question, will fighting be acted out as if it were some cheap graphiced game such as Runescape v.1 or would you allow the fighting to be something like what you see in cutscenes?

Ex) RS v.1 fighting style: He watched as his character made a lazy poke with his sword dealing two damage to the swamp rat.

Cutscene fighting style: He watched as his character brought down the heavy blade he wielded with as much weight as possible, cleaving into his opponent dealing three damage.

or other fighting style: He thrust his spear as hard as he could, driving it deep into his opponents gut.

A mainly the cutscene style. Although I don't think I want the whole part of dealing a certain amount of damage. I know this is based off a video game and all, but getting into stats and stuff makes it too complicated. Obviously, the characters won't be immortal. So if you've got a weak character, you can't expect to beat a character of a much higher level.

  13. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

Lol not unless you have the twilight braclet XD

And if we don't get enough people to fill the epitaph's, would you then consider having people make another character to use the left over epi's and maybe have them as antagonists?

  14. Desert Warrior

    Desert Warrior Well-Known Member

Yes. Since the Epitaphs are the main people of the story, they're kinda needed.

Although I've been thinking about the rule about each Epitaph needing to be awoken. I think I might want to change that a bit. Two reasons mainly.

  15. Haresuno

    Haresuno KH-3's Übermensch

    Such as?

And as a note, maybe one or two of us can already have epitaphs that are awoken, so that way we're all not confused about what's happening.

Oh! And I've got a second character in mind just incase you decide no on having a few of the epi's awakened already.

I thought it'd be nice to have a CC Corps. character. Ya' know like Yata or Pi not them exactly, but someone who works for CC Corps.
