Do you think the high expectations for KH3 will have negative affects?

Simple question. We all know the expectations are astronomically high for many due to the way the series has spread, evolved and lost old fans while getting new ones over the years.

Lots of story threads that even if addressed likely wont have the time to do so properly.

So with that in mind do you think the expectations for KH3 will help or hurt? I can see sales going fast at first due to the wait for some but what about after that initial boom?

I don't think that the possibly high expectations of fans will end up hurting sales, unless the reviews of the game make it out to be absolute garbage, which I doubt it will be. I think the game will probably sell pretty well, and I think KH III might bring back some of the old fans who've lost their way waiting on it to come out. As far as I know, none of the games thus far have been flops, so I doubt this will be the first. I suspect that the game might end up being pretty polarizing within the fandom, though. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Hmm...sales probably was a poor example to give..I do agree it'll likely be polarizing or at least rather dividing in some way among the fandom.

I don't see KH III's reception being much different than any of the other games, I suppose. They all were fairly well received by critics and many of the fans, and I don't see that changing. I do think some fans who have been waiting for this game since KH II was released in 2005 will have built the game up in their heads so much that it won't meet their expectations, and I won't be surprised if the game concludes in ways that not everyone will be happy about, but I think what's left of the fandom is already divided, so I don't know how much worse it could get. And I think the high expectations is a problem any long-running series on any platform experiences when the series is ending. There's just no way for the creators to make everyone happy.

From critics probably wont but I can see fans being a bit all over the place. To this day you can still see debates over whether Days sucked or not. Oh definitely. Their expectations combined with the story created by the handhelds over the past 11yrs will be a huge blow to many.
A fanbase can always get more divided sadly. I can see returning fans right now complaining about being lost and others jumping them for "abandoning" the series after Kh2.
This place has always seemed to be calm though so maybe it wont happen here. :D

It's been over a decade now and most of us are in our 20's (A few older). Would be a disaster for the game to come out only to be as average as lukewarm water.
